USER MUST READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS MACHINE. Before operating this machine
(including any attachments), renter agrees to fully read, understand, and follow all safety warnings and instructions set forth
below, which can be found on Rug Doctor’s website (www.rugdoctor.com).
USING THE MACHINE

Locate the Clean Water Tank: It is the tank located on the left of the machine and is labeled Clean Water Tank.

Push the Clean Water Tank Release Button and pull the tank in an outward motion to release tank.

Unscrew the Easy Measure Solution Pour Cap from the Clean Water Tank. Fill the Clean Water Tank with HOT tap water until it
reaches the fill line.

Follow the directions on the back of the Rug Doctor cleaning solution and fill the Easy Measure Solution Pour Cap with the
recommended ounces of solution. Clean Water Tank holds .75 gallons of water.

Tightly screw the Easy Measure Solution Pour Cap onto the tank. Securely place the full Clean Water Tank back onto the
machine. You will hear a “Click” sound when the tank has locked into place.

The Motorized Upholstery Tool is easily lifted from the machine front while the Tool Handle is easily slid out from the Tool
Handle Holster on the back. Unwrap the Hose from the Tool Hose Wrap on the back of the machine.

Once separate from the machine, connect the Motorized Upholstery Tool and Tool Handle. Press the two pieces together
firmly to assure proper connection.

Plug in the machine to a properly grounded outlet. Turn on the machine: Press the Power Button to “On” on the top of the
machine. The Tool Brush will spin when power is turned on.

To start cleaning, squeeze and hold the Cleaning Solution Trigger while slowly moving the tool back and forth over the stain,
releasing the Cleaning Solution Trigger when complete. Excess solution can be removed by making additional passes with the
tool without squeezing the Cleaning Solution Trigger. This may permit faster drying.

Emptying Dirty Water Tank: Locate the tank on the right of the machine. Push the Dirty Water Tank Release Button and pull
the tank in an outward motion to release tank.

Remove Dirty Water: Unscrew the Wide Opening Lid on the back of the tank, remove the Dirt Water Tank Float and pour out
the dirty water. (Dirty water should be poured into toilet or outside.)

Rinse out the Dirty Water Tank with warm water and screw lid back on tank. Securely place the Dirty Water Tank back onto
the machine. You will hear a click sound when the tank has locked into place. Continue cleaning until finished.

When cleaning is complete: Leave the machine running for 15 seconds after cleaning to allow for all of the dirty solution to
be collected in the Dirty Water Tank. Then switch the machine OFF.

Clean and Rinse out both tanks with warm water, remove lint and hair from the tool brush roll, and wipe down the machine.
After rinsing and drying both tanks, replace tanks and lock in place.

Disconnect the Motorized Upholstery Tool Head from the Tool Handle and place into Motorized Upholstery Head Pocket on
front of machine.

Wrap the Tool Hose around the Tool Hose Wrap and replace Tool Handle in the Tool Handle Holster.

Wrap the Power Cord around the Rotating Cord Wrap.

using this machine, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

•Use the machine only as described in this guide and user manual. Use only Rug Doctor’s recommended attachments and cleaning
solutions.
•For indoor, household use only.
•DO NOT leave machine unattended when plugged in or while powered on. Turn off all controls before unplugging. Unplug the
machine when not in use and before cleaning or servicing.
•Use only Rug Doctor® cleaning products intended for use with this machine.
•DO NOT immerse. Only use machine on surfaces moistened by the cleaning process.
•
•DO NOT submerge machine, expose to rain, place machine in standing water, or try to clear flooded areas with machine.
•Use caution when using hot tap water. DO NOT boil or microwave water to be used in this machine.
•DO NOT allow the machine to run dry. When the Clean Water Tank runs out, stop using and follow directions to refill.
•DO NOT allow this machine to be used as a toy. Close attention and adult supervision is necessary when used by or near children
or pets. This machine is not intended to be used by children age 12 and under. DO NOT allow children or pets to place their body
parts in or near openings or moving parts.
•DO NOT use with damaged cord or plug. If this machine or any associated attachment is not working as it should, has been
damaged by dropping or has been left outdoors; stop using immediately, return machine to your rental location, and notify Rug
Doctor at (800) 784-3628. Do not attempt to repair a damaged or broken machine under any circumstances.
•DO NOT pull by cord, carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, nor pull cord around sharp edges or corners.
•DO NOT modify earthed plug.
•DO NOT run machine over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
•DO NOT clean over floor electrical outlets.
•DO NOT handle plug or use this machine with wet or sweaty hands. Wear rubber-soled shoes when using the machine.
•DO NOT unplug by pulling on the cord. Unplug by pulling on the plug from the wall outlet.
•DO NOT put any objects into opening. DO NOT use machine if any opening is blocked. Keep openings free of dust, lint, hair and
anything that could reduce air flow.
•Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
•Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all body parts away from openings and moving parts.
•Turn off all controls before unplugging.
•Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
•DO NOT use to pick up flammable or combustible materials such as gasoline, lighter fluid, or paints. DO NOT use in areas where
these may be present.
•DO NOT use to pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches or hot ashes.
•DO NOT place in or pick up anything with this machine that is a caustic or toxic material, such as bleach, ammonia, toilet bowl
cleaners or drain cleaners.

•DO NOT pick up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
•DO NOT use an extension cord. Failure to follow this instruction may expose the user to the possibility of electric shock, personal
loss or injury and/or death.
•DO NOT operate without tanks or in any manner inconsistent with the above warnings or the operating instructions included
with the machine.
•Always turn off this machine before connecting or disconnecting hoses, wands or motorized nozzle. The attachments hose
contains electric wires. DO NOT use or repair a damaged hose. DO NOT use when the hose is cut or punctured. Avoid picking up
sharp objects.
•Examine the attachment hose periodically for visible deterioration, such as abrasions, cracks, splits and the like.
•The attachment hose is to be used only for indoor household cleaning.
•DO NOT use this machine as a vacuum.
•Always ensure float is properly installed before any wet pick-up operation.
•Machine is designed to clean normally soiled carpets in one cleaning pass. Two passes can be used for heavily soiled carpets but
not on Berber, multi-level, or looped carpets. Do not use more than two cleaning passes on any area of carpet. Failure to follow
this instruction may result in over-wetting and permanent staining of carpet. If spots are not sufficiently clean, allow to dry
completely and clean again using only one pass.
•Do not use or place machine on wood, laminate, or natural fiber floors.
•Do not use or place machine on natural fiber, silk, wool, sisal, jute, hand-loomed, or braided carpets and rugs.
•Do not use machine to clean the following fabrics: silk, Haitian cotton, velour, velvet, corduroy, leather, fabrics with cleaning
code S or X, or any non-colorfast fabrics.
•Do not use bleach, dye, laundry detergents, cleaning powders, harsh solvents or chemicals or any non-Rug Doctor products with
machine as permanent damage to your property may result.Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. See “Grounding
Instructions.”
WARNING
Improper connection of equipment-grounding conductor can result in the risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or
service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the machine—
If it will not fi t the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This machine is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit
and has a grounded plug. Make sure that the machine is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No
adapter should be used with this machine.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS:
This machine must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric
current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This machine is equipped with a cord having an equipment grounding conductor and
grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all
local codes and ordinances.
