Assembly Instructions
Rutland workbench with
back board

Before you commence the assembly process we recommend that you read these instructions
thoroughly beforehand to familiarise yourself with the assembly process and to also check that you have
the correct components. If for any reason you need assistance, you can find our contact details on the
final page of these instructions.
We highly recommend that any assembly is carried out on a flat, level surface if possible and that you
use another person to assist you if necessary.

4 x Spacer blocks
65mm screws
M8 Coach screws
Tools required
10mm socket or spanner
Electric screwdriver with No2 Pozidrive bit
Or No2 Pozidrive Screwdriver
1 x Bench top
1 x Bench shelf
2 x Front legs
2 x Back panel legs (1435mm) (1)
2 x Back panel rails (2)
6 x Back panel slats (3)
2 x Back panel dividers (230mm) (4)

Ensure that you have all of the correct parts as listed
on the front page of these instructions, including any
fixings.
Layout the Back panel legs (marked 1 above) as
shown, on a flat surface and then attach them to the
back panel rails where indicated by the arrows above,
using the pre-drilled holes and 65mm screws
provided.

Now place the back panel slats (marked 3) as shown
making sure that the top edge is flush and everything
is square before screwing into place along the dotted
lines as shown.
Turn the assembly over and space both of the back
panel dividers (marked 4) equally across the back
panel before securing into place from behind the
panel with the screws provided.

Step 6
Lay the Bench shelf on a clean, flat surface taking care
not to damage it. Place a spacer block under each
corner as shown to raise the shelf ready for the legs
to be attached.
With the leg flush to the floor, attach it to the front of
the shelf using 2 of the coach screws...

...and then repeat for the other side.
Now get an assistant to hold the back panel in place
as shown before attaching it in the same way as the
front legs with, 2 coach screws through each leg.

Now place the bench top in place as shown making
sure that the front is flush with the front legs and the
rear is raised up to be flush with the underside of the
back panel. Attach it to the uprights and legs with 2
coach screws in each corner and repeat for the other
end.
Finally, remove the spacer blocks from under the
workbench and ensure all of the coach screws are
fully tightened.

Now add the rear diagonal braces, positioning them
as shown, so that the ends are flush a) with the
outside edge of the leg and b) the underside of the
back panel. Please note: Depending on the model
you have purchased the braces may be shorter than
those illustrated. The fixing method however
remains the same.
Holding the brace in position, fix the lower end in
place using 2 of the coach screws.

Now secure the top of the brace to the underside of
the back panel using another coach screw as shown.
Repeat Steps 9 & 10 for the remaining brace.
Your Rutland workbench is now complete.
