GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING
When using battery operated tools, basic safety
instructions should always be followed to reduce
the risk of fire, leaking batteries and personal
injury including the following. Read all these
instructions before operating this product and
save these instructions for future reference.
■Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas and benches
invite injuries.
■Consider work area environment. Do not expose
power tools to rain. Do not use power tools in damp
or wet locations.
■Keep work area well lit. Do not use power tools
where there is risk to cause fire or explosion.
■Keep children away. Do not let visitors touch the
tool. All visitors should be kept from area.
■Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery, they can be caught in moving parts.
■Use safety glass. Use face or dust mask if the
cutting operation is dusty. Also use ears protection to
reduce the risk of induced hearing loss.
■Stay alert. Watch what you are doing at all times.
Use common sense. Do not operate tool when you
are tired or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
■Store batteries or idle tools. When not in use, tools
and batteries should be stored separately in a dry,
high or locked up place, out of the reach of children.
Ensure that battery terminal will not be shorted by
other metal parts such as screws nail etc.
■Secure work. Use clamps or vice to hold the work.
It is safer than using your hand and it frees both
hands to operate the tools.
■Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance
at all times.
■Do not force the tool. It will do the job better and
safer at the rate for which it was intended.
■Use the right tools. Do not force small tools or
attachments to do the job of a heavy duty tool.
Do not use tools for purposes not intended.
■Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp
and clean for bet ter performance. Follow instructions
for lubrication and changing accessories.
■Inspect tool cord periodically and if damaged
have it repaired by an authorized service facility.
Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
■Check damage parts. Before further use of the tools, a
guard or other parts that is damaged should be carefully
checked to determine that it can operate properly and
perform its intended function. Any parts that is damaged
should be properly repaired or replace by an authorized
service center unless otherwise indicated in this
instruction manual. Have defective switches replaced by
an authorized service facility. Do not use the tool if the
switch does not turn it on and off.
■Avoid accidental starting. Be sure that the switch
trigger is in the locked or OFF position after use.
Do not carry the tool with a finger on the switch.
■Disconnect tools. Where the design permits,
disconnect the tool from its battery pack when not
in use, before serving and when changing accessories.
■Disconnect charger. To reduce the risk of electric
shock, unplug the charger from the wall outlet before
attempting any maintenance or cleaning. Turn off the
controls will not reduce this risk.
■Disconnect battery pack. Disconnect battery pack
from tool before making any adjustments, changing
accessories or storing the tool.
■Charger maintenance. Do not disassemble the
charger. Take it to a qualified serviceman when
service or repair is required. Incorrect assembly may
result in risk of electric shock of fire.
■Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry
the charger. Keep cord away from heat, oil,
sharp edges, or moving parts. Replace damaged
cords immediately. Damaged cords may create a fire.
■A battery operated tool with integral batteries or a
separate battery pack must be recharged only
with the specified charger for the battery.
A charger that may be suitable for one type of battery
may create a risk of fire when used with another
battery. Use battery only with charger listed.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES

designated battery pack. Use of any other batteries
may create a risk of fire. Use only with battery pack
with battery pack listed.
■Do not abuse the supply cord (if fitted).
Never carry the tool by the cord or yank it to disconnect
it from the socket. Keep the cord away from heat, oil
and sharp edges.
■ACCESSORIES: Only use accessories that are
recommended by the manufacturer of your model.
Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may
create a risk of injury when used on another tool.
WARNING
The use of any accessories or attachments,
except those recommended in this instruction
manual and from other recognized accessory
suppliers, may present a risk of personal injury.
■Ensure the battery pack is correct for the tool.
Ensure the outside surface of battery pack or tool is
clean and dry before plugging into charger.
Ensure that batteries are charged using the correct
charger recommended by the manufacturer, incorrect
use may result in risk of electric shock, overheating or
leakage of corrosive liquid from the battery.
■Have your tools repaired by a qualified person.
This electric tool is manufactured in accordance with
the relevant safety requirement. Repairs should only
be carried by qualified persons using original spare
parts otherwise this may result in considerable
danger to the user.
■If under abusive conditions, liquid is ejected from
the battery, avoid contact. If this accidentally
occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes
additionally, seek medical help.

UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS
Your screwdriver has been shipped completely assembled.
■Carefully remove the screwdriver, and accessories
from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the
packing list are included.
■Inspect the screwdriver carefully to make sure no
breakage or damage has occurred during shipping.
■Do not discard the packing material until you have
carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the tools.

This tool has been shipped in low charge condition to
prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should charge
it overnight prior to use.
Note: Batteries will not reach full charge the first time
they are charged. Allow several cycles (drilling followed
by re-charging) for them to become fully charged.
Note: Only use the charger provided.
■Connect charger to the tool by inserting charger plug
into input jack. Make sure the power supply is normal
household voltage, 230V, 50Hz, AC only.
■Connect charger to power supply.
■The charge indicator light (LED) will light up when
charger is properly connected power supply.
■After normal usage, a minimum charge time of
3-5 hours is required to recharge a completely
discharged battery.
■The charger housing and the tool handle will become
slightly warm to the touch while charging. This is
normal and does not indicate a problem.
■DO NOT operate driver while it is connected to the
charger. The driving ability will not increase.
■DO NOT place charger in an area of extreme heat
of cold. It works best at normal room temperature.

The torque is adjusted by rotating the torque adjustment ring.
The torque is greater when the torque adjustment ring is
set on higher setting and less when set on a lower.
Rotate the adjustment ring to the desired setting.

To remove the batteries ensure that your driver is
disconnected from the charger.
■Drive out the four screws that connect the gearbox
housing and handle housing and pull off the gear box.
■Loosen the two screws that connect the handle to the
motor housing.
■Loosen the three screws holding the handle housing.
■Open the handle and take out the battery for disposal.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
Upon removal, cover the battery terminals with
heavy duty adhesive tape. Do not attempt to
destroy or disassemble batteries or remove any of
its components. Nickel-cadmium bat ter ies must
be recycled or disposed of properly. Also never
touch both terminals with metal objects and/or
body parts as short circuit may result. Keep away
from children. Failure to comply with these
warnings could result in fire and/or serious injury.
BATTERY DISPOSAL
To preserve natural resources please recycle or dispose
of the battery properly.

MAINTENANCE
WARNING
When servicing, use only Ryobi replacement
parts. Use of any other part may create a hazard
or cause product damage.
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts.
Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various
types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by
their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, carbon dust, etc.

Do not at any time let brake fluids, petrol,
petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc.

DO NOT abuse power tools. Abusive practices can

All Ryobi products are guaranteed against manufacturing defects and
defective parts for a period of twenty four (24) months from the date stated
on the original invoice drawn up by the retailer and given to the end user.
Deterioration caused by normal wear and tear, unauthorised or improper
use or maintenance, or overload are excluded from this guarantee as are
accessories such as battery packs, light bulbs, blades, fittings, bags, etc.
In the event of malfunction during the warranty period, please take the
NON-DISMANTLED product, along with the proof of purchase, to your
retailer or nearest Authorised Ryobi Service Centre.
This warranty in no way affects your legal rights concerning defective
products.
