Importantsafetyinstructions

6.Unplug the radiofromthe ACpoweroutletbeforecleaning.
Useonlyadampclothforcleaning the exteriorofthe radio.
7.Donotplacethe radioon an unstablecart, stand,bracketor
table.The radiomayfall,causing seriouspersonalinjuryand
damage tothe radio.
8.Ventilation:Thisradioshouldbe situated sothatitslocation or
position doesnotinterferewithitsproperventilation.
Forexample,the radioshouldnotbe used on abed,sofa,rug
orothersoft surfacesthatmayblock the ventilation openings.
It shouldnotbe placed inabuilt-insituation likeacabinetthat
mayreduceairflowthrough the ventilation openings.
9.Powersources:The radioshouldbe operated onlyfromthe
type ofpowersourceindicated on the marking label.If you are
notsureofthe type ofpowersupplytoyourhome,consult
yourradiodealerorpowercompany.
10.Powercords:The powercordshouldbe positioned soitisnot
walked on,pinched,oritemsplaced on top ofit. Payparticular
attention tocordsatplugs,conveniencereceptacles,and the
pointwheretheyexitfromthe unit. Unplug the powercordby
gripping the powerplug,notthe cord.Operatethe radiousing

onlythe correcttype ofpowersourceindicated.If you arenot
sureofthe type ofpowersupplytoyourhome,consultyour
dealerorlocalpowercompany.
11.Donotoverload wall outletsorextension cords.Thiscan result
inarisk offireorelectricalshock.Neverinsertobjectsofany
kind intothe radiothrough opening.
The objectsmaytouchdangerousvoltage pointsorshortout
parts.Thiscouldcauseafireorelectricalshock.
12.If the radioisleft attended and unused forlong periodsoftime
,unplug itfromthe wall outlet.Thiswill preventdamage
caused bylightning orpowerline surges.
13.If the radioisleft unattended and unused forlong periodsof
time,removethe batteries.The batteriesmayleakand
damage furnitureoryourradio.
14.Donotattempttoservicethe receiveryourself. Removing the
covermayexposeyou todangerousvoltage,and will voidthe
warranty.Referall servicing toauthorized servicepersonnel.
15.Objectand LiquidEntry–Neverpushobjectsofanykind into
thisradiothrough openingsastheymaytouchdangerous
voltage pointsorshort–outpartsthatcouldresultinafireor
electricshock.Neverspill liquidofanykind on the product.
16.The applianceshouldbe serviced byqualified service

Batteryoperation
1.Removethe batterycoveron the rearofthe unitbypushing the
catchesinthe direction ofthe arrows.
2.InsertfourUM-1(Dsize)batteriesintothe spaceinthe
compartment.Takecaretoensureall batteriesareinserted with
the correctpolarityasshowninside the batterycompartment.
Replacethe batterycover.
3.Reduced power,distortion and a‘stuttering’ sound areall signs
thatthe batteriesmayneed replacing.
4.If the radioisnottobe used foranyextended period oftime,it
isrecommended thatthe batteriesareremoved fromthe radio.
Wewouldrecommend foreconomythatthe PR-D2(V)isused
on the mainspowersupplywheneverpossiblewithbattery
operation foroccasionalorstand-byuseonly.
Batteryreplacement
1.The batteryindicatorwill appearinthe displayfor7seconds
afterthe radioisswitched on oroff.The indicatorwill show
when the batteriesarefresh.The batteryshouldbe replaced
when the indicatorshoworthe batterypoweristoo weak
toturnon the radio(will flashfor7seconds).
Afterremoving the batteriesyou haveapproximately3minutes
toreplacethe batteriesafterwhichthe clock and memory
information will be lost.
Mainspoweroperation
Placeyourradioon aflatsurface.Plug the mainslead intothe
mainssocketlocated on the rearofyourradioensuring thatthe
plug ispushed fullyintothe socket.The batterieswill be
automaticallydisconnected .
The ACcordshouldbe disconnected fromthe mainssupplywhen
notinuseforlong periods.

Setting theclock
1.The clock will startrunning when the batteriesareinstalled or
when the radioisconnected tothe mainssupply.The display
will show0:00 (PR-D2)or12:00 (PR-D2V).
2.Ensurethatthe radioswitched off.
3.Press the Band (TimeSet/ST.MO.)button,the hoursdigitswill
flashinthe displayfollowed byabeep sound.
4.Press Tuning up/downbutton tosetthe required hours.
5.Press the TimeSetbutton,the minutedigitswill flashinthe
display.
6.Press the Tuning up/Downbuttonstosetthe required minute.
7.Press the TimeSetbutton tocompletetimesetting.
Operating theradio
Yourradioisequipped withfourtuning methods-Scan tuning,
Rotarytuning,Manualtuning and Memorypresettuning.
Scantuning
1.Press the Powerbutton toturnon the radio.
2.Selectthe required waveband byrepeatedlypressing the Band
button.Forthe FM/TV(PR-D2V)band fullyextend the
Telescopicaerialand setitatan angleof45 degrees.
3.Press and holddowneitherthe Tuning up orTuning down
buttonsformorethan 0.5secondstocommercescan tuning.
4.The radiowill scan selected waveband and stop automatically
when itfindsastation ofsufficientstrength.The tuning indicator
will appearinthe display.
5.Torecommencescan tuning,press and holddowneitherthe
Tuning up orTuning downbuttonsformorethan 0.5seconds.
6.When the waveband end isreached,the radiowill beep and
continue tuning fromthe oppositewaveband end.
7.Rotatethe Volumecontrolclockwisetoincreasethe volumeand
anticlockwisetodecreasethe volume.Setthe Tone controlto
the desired setting.
8.Toturnoff the radiopress the Powerbutton.6

Manualtuning
1.Press the Powerbutton toturnon the radio.
2.Selectthe required waveband byrepeatedlypressing the Band
button.Forthe FM/TV(PR-D2V)band fullyextend the
Telescopicaerialand setitatan angleof45 degrees.
3.Asinglepress on eitherthe Tuning up orTuning downbuttons
will change the frequency inthe following increments:
FM50 or100 kHz(PD-D2),
100 kHzor200 kHz(PR-D2V)
MW9kHzor10 kHz(PR-D2V)
TV1channel(PR-D2V)
4.When astation iscorrectlytuned,the tuning indicatorwill
appearinthe display.
Note:when the waveband end isreached,the radiowill beep
and continue tuning fromthe oppositewaveband end.
5.Rotatethe Volumecontrolclockwisetoincreasethe volumeand
anticlockwisetodecreasethe volume.Setthe tone controlto
the desired settings.
6.Toturnoff the radio,press the Powerbutton.
Rotarytuning
1.Press the Powerbutton toturnon the radio.
2.Selectthe required waveband byrepeatedlypressing the Band
button.Forthe FMwaveband/TV(PR-D2V),fullyextend the
Telescopicaerialand setitatan angleof45 degree.
3.Rotatethe Tuning controltochange the frequency inthe
following increments:
FM50 kHz
MW1kHz
TV1channel(PR-D2V)
4.When astation iscorrectlytuned,the tuning indicatorwill
appearinthe display.
Note:when the waveband end isreached,the radiowill beep
and continue tuning fromthe oppositewaveband end.
5.Rotatethe Volumecontrolclockwisetoincreasethe volumeand
anticlockwisetodecreasethe volume.Setthe Tone controlto
the desired settings
6.Toturnoff the radio,press the Powerbutton.

Storing stationsinpresetmemories
Thereare5memorypresetsforeachwaveband.
1.Press the Powerbutton toturnon the radio.
2.Tune tothe required station using one ofthe methodspreviously
described .
3.Press and holddownthe required presetforuntil the radio
beeps(greaterthan 2seconds).The presetnumberwill appear
inthe displayand the station will be stored underthe chosen
presetbutton.
4.Repeatthisprocedureforthe remaining presets.
5.Stationsstored inpresetmemoriesmaybe overwritten by
following aboveprocedure.
Recalling stationsfrompresetmemories
1.Press the Powerbutton toturnon the radio.
2.Selectthe required waveband byrepeatedlypressing the band
button.
3.Momentarilypress the required Presetbutton,the preset
numberand station frequency will appearinthe display.
Setting theradioalarm
When the radioalarm isselected,the radiowill turnon and play
the laststation listened to.The radioalarm will sound forone hour
unless turned off bypressing the Powerbutton.Press the Power
button whilstthe alarm issounding will cancelthe alarm for24
hours.
1.The radioalarm timecan be setwiththe radioswitched off.
2.Press and holddownthe alarm radiobutton (presetno.5)until
the hourdigitsand alarm symbolflashinthe display
followed byabeep tone.
3.Setthe required hourusing the Tuning up/downbuttons.
4.Press the alarm radiobutton,the minutedigitswill flashinthe
display.
5.Setthe required minuteusing the Tuning up/downbuttons.
6.Press the alarm radiobutton,displaywill flashalarm lasting
time(from1hourto4hours)tobe setforradioalarm.Using
Tuning up/downtoselectrequired alarm lasting hoursthen
press the alarm radiobutton againtocompletealarm radio
setting.
7.Topermanentlycancelthe alarm radio,press the alarm radio
button until symbolisremoved fromthe display.8

Setting theHWS(HumaneWake System)alarm
Abeep tone will sound when using the HWSalarm.The alarm
beep will increaseinvolumeevery15 secondsforone minute
followed byone minutesilencebeforerepeating the cycle.The
HWSalarm will sound forone hourunless turned off bypressing
the Powerbutton.Pressing the Powerbutton whilstthe alarm is
sounding will cancelthe alarm for24 hours.
1.The HWSalarm can be setwiththe radioswitched off.
2.Press the HWSalarm button (Presetno.4)until the hourdigits
and alarm symbolflashinthe displayfollowed byabeep
tone.
3.Setthe required hourusing Tuning up/downbuttons.
4.Press the HWSalarm button,the minutedigitswill flashinthe
display.
5.Setthe required minuteusing the Tuning up/downbuttons.
6.Press HWSalarm button tocompletealarm setting.
7.Topermanentlycancelthe alarm,press the HWSalarm button
until the symbolisremoved fromthe display.
Snooze function
1.Whilstthe alarm issounding,press anybutton (exceptthe
Powerbutton)will activethe snoozefunction.The radioorHWS
alarm will be silenced for5minutes.
2.The displaywill flashboththe snoozesymboland the
alarm symbol.The snoozefunction can be repeatedlyduring
the 1hourthatthe alarmsareactive.
