The only way to turn the power
off completely isto disconnectthe
AC adapter
Connect only Sartoriusaccessoriesand
options, asthese are optimally desi-
gned for use with your balance/ scale.
Protect the AC adapter fromcontact
with liquid.
Do not open the balance/ scale
housing. If the seal isbroken, thiswill result
in forfeiture of all claimsunder
the manufacturer'swarranty.

Warranty
Do not missout on the benefitsof our
full warranty. Please contact your local
Sartoriusoffice or dealer for further
information. Complete the warranty
registration card, if available indicating
the date of installation, and return the
card to your Sartoriusoffice or dealer.
Storageand Shipping Conditions
Do not expose the balance/ scale to
shocks, vibration, moisture or extreme
temperatures.
Unpacking theBalance/ Scale
After unpacking the balance/
scale, check it immediately for
any visible damage asa result of
roughhandling during shipment.
$If yousee any signof damage,
proceed asdirected in the chapter
entitled Care and Maintenance,
under the section on Safety
Inspection.
Save the box and all partsof the
packaging until youhave successfully
installed your balance/ scale. Only
the original packaging providesthe
best protection for shipment. Before
packing your balance/ scale, unplug all
connected cablesto prevent damage.

Installation Instructions
Your balance/ scale isdesigned to
provide reliable weighing resultsunder
normal ambient conditions. When
choosing a locationto set up your
balance/ scale, observe the following
so that youwill be able to work with
added speed and accuracy:
Set up the balance/ scale on
a stable, even surface
Avoid placing the balance/ scale
in close proximity to a heater or
otherwise exposing the balance/
scale to heat or directsunlight
Protect the balance/ scale
fromdraftsthat come from open
windowsor doors
Avoid exposing the balance/ scale
to extreme vibrationsduring
weighing
Protect the balance/ scale from
aggressive chemical vapors
Do not expose the balance/
scale to extreme moisture over long
periods
Conditioning the Balance/ Scale:
Moisture in the air can condense
on the surfacesof a cold balance/
scale whenever it isbrought into a
substantially warmer place. If you
transfer the balance/ scale to a
warmer area, make sure to condition it
for about 2 hoursat roomtemperature,
leaving it unplugged fromAC power.
Information
on Radio Frequency Interference
Warning!
Thisequipment generates, usesand
can radiate radio frequency energy
and, if not installed and used in
accordance with the instruction
manual, may cause interference to
radio communications. It hasbeen

Insertthe right-angle plug into the jack
The AC adapterrated to Class2 can be plugged
into any wall outlet without requiring any
additional safety precautions
The ground isconnected to the balance/ scale
housing, which can be additionally grounded
for operation.
Using a Non-Rechargeable/ Rechargeable Battery
(notfor modelsBL210S, BL120S, BL60S, BL150S,
BL1500S, GC503, GM1502)
$A non-rechargeable or rechargeable battery isnot
included with the equipment supplied
!Use only a commercially available non-
rechargeable or rechargeable 9-volt battery
!When using a rechargeable battery, alwaysuse
an external charger to recharge the battery
Lay the balance/ scale onitsside
Open the battery compartment:
Lift the compartment cover
Insert the 9-volt (rechargeable)battery
in the compartment
$Make sure to connectthe positive and negative
polescorrectly
!All used batteriesare classified aswaste
that requiresspecial handling (not household
waste). Dispose of rechargeable batteriesin
accordance with the applicable special waste
disposal regulations.
Close the battery compartment:

Calibration/ Adjustment*
Alwayscalibrate/ adjust the balance/ scale after setting it up in a new location.
AvailableFeatures
Calibration/ adjustment can only be performed when
there isno load on the balance/ scale,
the balance/ scale istared,
the internal signal isstable.
If these conditionsare not met, an error message isdisplayed.
The weight required for calibration/ adjustment isdisplayed (see Accessoriesfor
calibration weights; for model GC503 see EquipmentSupplied).
On Basiclite balances, calibration/ adjustment can be performed
with any of three weight units: g, kg* * , or lb (menucode 1.4.x)

With the Counting programyou can determine
the number of partsthat each have approximately
equal weight.

Weigh Averaging
Purpose
Use thisprogramto determine weightsunder
unstable ambient conditions. In thisprogram, the
balance/ scale calculatesthe weight asthe average
value froma defined number of individual weighing
operations. These weighing operationsare also
known assubweighing operationsor subweighs.

The measured resultdisplayed isthe arithmetic
mean shown in the selected weight unit;
a triangle indicatesthat thisisa calculated value
