TOW BALL BICYCLE CARRIER - 2 BICYCLES

Thank you for purchasing a Sealey product. Manufactured to a high standard, this product will, if used according to these
instructions, and properly maintained, give you years of trouble free performance.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. NOTE THE SAFE OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, WARNINGS & CAUTIONS. USE
THE PRODUCT CORRECTLY AND WITH CARE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE DAMAGE AND/OR
PERSONAL INJURY AND WILL INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY. KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS SAFE FOR FUTURE USE.
1. SAFETY
8DO NOT use the cycle carrier if any parts are missing or damaged as this may cause failure or possible personal injury.
WARNING! Due to the variety in design of vehicles & cycles, it is the users full responsibility to ensure no damage occurs whilst
using this cycle carrier. Correct attachment of carrier to a vehicle is therefore critical and is beyond control of the manufacturer,
distributor, or supplier.
WARNING! The user must secure the carrier and any cycles to be carried properly, checking the security frequently when in use.
9Use strong, good quality tie restraints for securing cycles to the carrier. DO NOT use string, or elasticated straps.
WARNING! The locking mechanism is spring loaded, operate with care.
9If your vehicle lights and/or number plate are obscured by your bikes, you are required BY LAW to replicate them with an
auxiliary lighting kit.
Avoid damage caused by hot exhaust fumes do not position cycles directly next to the vehicle’s exhaust, especially the bicycle
 tyres.Ifnecessarytanexhaustdeector.
9Ensure that bicycles do not come into contact with the vehicle bodywork and provide protection as required.
WARNING! Remove any loose objects from the bikes i.e pumps, bottles etc.
WARNING! Avoid any protrusions beyond the side of the car as these may present a risk of injury to passers-by.
8DO NOT use the cycle carrier for any purpose other than for which it is designed.
8DO NOT strap any other items to the carrier, only bicycles.
WARNING! Drive carefully - Be aware of cross winds, sudden braking or hard cornering, reduce speed accordingly when using
carrier.
WARNING! This carrier is designed for temporary use only, remove when not in use or before going through a car wash.

2. INTRODUCTION

provisionforanti-theftlock(notincluded).Foldsdownatforstorage.
3. ASSEMBLY
3.1. Foldoutthecyclesupporttubes,seeg.1.1.Securethroughtheuprighttubeswiththumbscrew,seeg.1.2.
3.2. Fitlockoutbarusingcrossheadscrewsandlocknuts,seeg.1.3.
3.3. Fitthefourcyclestirrups.Finaltighteningofthescrewsneedtotakesplaceoncethecarrierhasbeenttedtothecar,seeg.1.4.
3.4. Fitthefoampads.Usethecleaningclothtocleanthestirrup,thenstickthefoampadsontothefourstirrups,seeg.2.
4. FITTING TO CAR
4.1. Remove the lockout bar hand wheel. Note: press down with one hand on the lock out bar whilst undoing lockout bar handwheel, see
g.1.
4.2. Carefullypulllockoutbaruptoallowjawsoftowbarlocktomoveapart,seegs.1and3.
4.3. Positionthecyclecarrierontothetowball,seegs3and4.
4.4. Press down on the lockout bar until the latch clicks in its locked position.
4.5. Check that the carrier is securely clamped onto the tow ball and that it is vertical.
4.6. Retthelockoutbarhandwheel.Refertog.1whichshowshowtoapplypressuretothelockoutbarwhilsttighteningorundoingthe
handwheel.

Environmental Protection
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories and packaging should be
sorted, taken to a recycling centre and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with the environment.
When the product becomes completely unserviceable and requires disposal, drain off any fluids (if applicable)
into approved containers and dispose of the product and the fluids according to local regulations.

5. LOADING BICYCLES
5.1. When placing cycles on the rack:
 •Avoidpositioningthetyresclosetotheexhaust.
 •Whencarryingtwocycles,placetheminoppositedirectionsonthecarrier.
 •Ensurethatthecyclesarewellbalanced.
 •Makesurethestirrupsarecorrectlypositionedforthesizeandtypeofcyclebeingcarried.
5.2. Check the that all of the screws are tight.
5.3. Secure cycles on the carrier using the stirrups supplemented by suitable ties.
5.4. Ensure that cycles are not in contact with the vehicle bodywork and provide suitable protection to prevent damage.
5.5.  Manymodernvehiclesarettedwithtowingeyeswhicharesuitableforattachinganti-theftcablestosecurethecyclescarried.
5.6. When carrying cycles drive with extra care, particularly in high winds or over uneven surfaces.
5.7. If your vehicle lights and/or number plate are obscured by your bikes, you are required BY LAW to replicate them with an auxiliary
