INSTRUCTIONS FOR: INFRA-RED
PROPANE TOWER HEATER
Models: LP451R & LP452P
Thank you for purchasing a Sealey product. Manufactured to a high standard this product will, if used according to these instructions
and properly maintained, give you years of trouble free performance.
1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. NOTE THE SAFE OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, WARNINGS AND
CAUTIONS. USE THIS PRODUCT CORRECTLY AND WITH CARE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY
CAUSE DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY, AND WILL INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY. PLEASE KEEP INSTRUCTIONS SAFE FOR FUTURE USE.
pWARNING! Disconnect the heater from the gas supply before changing accessories, servicing or performing any maintenance.
4 Keep the heater clean and in good working order.
4Check that the heater is in sound condition and not damaged. Take immediate action to repair or replace damaged parts.
4Use recommended parts only. Non recommended parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
4Store gas cylinders in accordance with regulations applicable to such appliances.
4Follow instruction to ensure there are no leaks in the gas connections. DO NOT use naked flame to check for gas leaks.
4Ensure nothing is standing or passing immediately in front of the heater.
4Use the supplied pressure regulator only.
4Maintain a minimum distance of 540mm from walls, windows and other objects.
4For outdoor use only, or in well ventilated areas. The heater operating area requires a minimum air volume of 260 cubic meters which
must also have adequate continuous ventilation.
4Should the heater not work correctly immediately turn of the heater and ensure the gas valve is closed. Check the heater according
to instruction manual. If you are unable to resolve the problem contact your local service agent. DO NOT attempt to dismantle or make
any adjustments beyond that mentioned in these instructions. To do so may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
8DO NOT use the heater if damaged. Take immediate action to repair or replace damaged parts. Use authorised service agent only.
8DO NOT use heater in closed rooms, living areas, basements or below ground level or in area without adequate ventilation.
8DO NOT allow untrained persons to ignite the heater.
8DO NOT use a naked flame to try and ignite the heater.
8DO NOT use the heater near flammable material, liquids, solids, or gases or in areas where spray painting is carried out.
8DO NOT place any object less than 540mm distance from the heater.
4Ensure the heater is correctly turned off when not in use.
4When not in use store the heater in a safe dry area, out of reach of children.
pWARNING!
If the heater is used for prolonged periods at its maximum power, ice may form on the propane cylinder. This is due to excessive evaporation.
In such a case DO NOT use another heater to de-ice the cylinders. Allow the ice to melt naturally.
These heaters are for use out of doors or in large well ventilated indoor spaces. Heaters use Propane
gas to generate infra -red heat rays from the upper heat unit which is reflected onto locate areas by
a conical stainless steel plate inside the head shield. The radiant heat produces a warm area covering
approximately 25 m2 depending on location conditions.

3. CONTENT & ASSEMBLY
3.1. Model LP451R
Remove all pieces from packing and carefully lift the case which houses the gas bottle in order
to remove parts enclosed. Before assembly check parts according to the list below ensuring
they are complete and undamaged. Should you experience a problem contact your supplier immediately.
3.2. Content: Aluminum reflector (11), Burner (5), Centre support post (2), base (1), screws, washers,
nuts, bolts, pressure regulator, gas pipe.
3.3. Assembly
3.3.1. To ensure the unit is stable when in use the base (1) must be weighted. To do so locate the plastic plug in the
base and remove it. Fill the base with a dry heavy substance such as sand or fine shingle, then replace the plug.
3.3.2. Fix the centre support post (2) to the supporting bracket by means of the screws, washers and bolts included.
3.3.3. Place the gas bottle case (4) over the centre support and over the case support brackets.
3.3.4. Push the gas hose (fig1.D) onto the brass connector (B) at the bottom the the burner unit (A) and tighten the hose clip (C).
Whilst holding the burner unit carefully, pass the gas hose down through the centre support post until it protrudes from the bottom
and into the gas bottle case (To perform this task you may find it easier to lay the heater carefully on its side ensuring you do not
damage or scratch the unit).
3.3.5. Place the burner unit into the upper end of the centre support post and fix it with the bolts and washers provided.

4. HEATER LOCATION
Your Sealey heater will generate radiated heat to a maximum area of approximately 25 M2(depending on conditions). It is therefore very
important to locate your heater correctly in order to achieve maximum heating benefits whilst avoiding any potential hazards.
The heater may be used outdoors or in well ventilated areas. To use in large indoor areas (the heater operating area requires minimum air
volume of 260 cubic meters) ensure that continuous ventilation is provided. A ventilation opening must run to the outside of the premises
where the heater is to be operated.
The following location instructions must also be observed:
4.1. Ensure the surface on which the heater is to stand is level, smooth and flat. Avoid any surface that may cause the heater to topple.
4.2. Ensure the heater is located at a minimum of 540mm from fixed objects such as wall, doors, panelling etc and not in the same
building as flammable liquids, solids and gases.
4.3. Other feature that will assist to enhance the comfort of the heated environment and reduce gas consumption:
a) Placing heater under sun or rain awning when used outside.
b) Protecting the area for heating against breeze, draughts and winds.
4.4. Ensure the location of the gas heater does not contravene Health and Safety, Fire, or any other local rules, legislation or regulations.
5. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Note: Ensure you have read and understood the safety instructions in Chapter 1.
Before you first use the heater, we recommend that the heater is placed in the open air as the unit will give of a light smoke. This is caused
by the burning off of the appliance surface protective lubricant which will disperse after a short time. You may also experience a slight irregular
flame at first which will gradually settle once all air has been eliminated from the gas piping system. It is also normal to experience a short
term irregular flame operation caused by air in system each time a gas bottle is changed.
5.1. To turn heater ON.
5.1.1. Check heater for possible gas leaks by opening the gas bottle valve and brushing a soapy water solution over each connection in the
system. WARNING! DO NOT use a flame to test for leaks. If bubbles develop in the solution this indicates a leak which must be
corrected before the unit is ignited. Immediately turn the control tap off and re-connect any suspect joint and re-check for leaks.
5.1.2. When you are sure there are no leaks open the gas bottle valve.
5.1.3. Press the control switch (main illustration item 6) in and turn to the Ignition Y symbol position (fig 2.2).
5.1.4. Continue to hold the control switch in for approximately 5 seconds (one minute for new gas bottles).
5.1.5. Whilst holding control switch in repeatedly press the red ignition button (fig 2.3) and watch for the pilot flame
inside burner head to ignite.
5.1.6. When the pilot flame is on, continue to press the control switch in for a further 30 seconds.
5.1.7. Release the control switch and check that the pilot flame remains alight.
5.1.8. If flame goes out turn control switch and gas valve off. Leave heater to stand for one minute, and then
repeat steps 5.1.3. to 5.1.6.
5.1.9. To ignite the heater turn the control switch to the position marked with a large flame (fig 2. 4) for full heat,
or the the small flame (fig 2.5) for low heat output.
5.2. To turn heater OFF.
5.2.1. Turn the control switch to the Ignition Yposition (fig 2.2).
5.2.2. Press the control switch in and turn to the OFF lposition (fig 2.1).
5.2.3. Turn the gas bottle valve off.
5.3. Storage.
When not in use store the heater in a safe, dry, childproof area. If being stored for long periods, i.e. during the summer, ensure
the gas bottle is stored according to appropriate regulations. Remove the aluminium reflector from the heater and store to avoid
the risk of damaging or dulling the surface. Cover the remainder of the heater unit with a tarpaulin.

3.3.6. Remove the six nuts from the bolts protruding from the burner unit (5). Stand the unit upright and place the aluminium reflector
disk (11) over the three bolts and fix with the nuts accordingly.
3.3.7. Connect the gas bottle regulator to the gas hose and tighten the hose clip.
3.3.8. Connect the regulator to the gas bottle (the gas bottle has a left handed thread).
3.3.9. Place the gas bottle in its base case and the heater is ready for testing.
3.4. Model LP452P
As model LP451R but having all parts inside packing and the addition of base gas holder, chain, and wheels.
3.5. Assembly
3.5.1. Insert the angled centre support post (2) into the upright of the base gas holder (1) and push the locking pin (3) in place.
3.5.2. Push the gas hose (10) up through the hole in the centre post until the end is exposed at the top. Connect hose to the burner
unit as in 3.3.4. and fig 1.
3.5.3. Place the burner unit (fig1. A) in the supporting cup located at the top of the centre support (fig 1.E) whilst drawing the hose (10) out
of the hole in the centre support, and secure the burner unit with washers and bolts provided. Stand the unit upright.
3.5.4. Place the aluminium reflector disk as in 3.3.6.
3.5.5. Weight the base as 3.3.1. Stand the gas bottle (8) in base sitting tightly back in the support arm and secure with chrome chain (9).
3.5.6. Fix the gas regulator to the gas hose and tighten the hose clip.
3.5.7. Connect the gas regulator to the gas bottle (the gas bottle has a left handed thread), and the heater is ready to test.
