1. SAFETY
1.1. Electrical Safety
WARNING! It is the user’s responsibility to check the following:
Check all electrical equipment and appliances to ensure that they are safe before using. Inspect power supply leads, plugs and
all electrical connections for wear and damage. Sealey recommend that an RCD (Residual Current Device) is used with all electrical
products. You may obtain an RCD by contacting your local Sealey dealer.

Electrical safety information, it is important that the following information is read and understood.
9Ensure that the insulation on all cables and on the appliance is safe before connecting it to the power supply.
9Regularly inspect power supply cables and plugs for wear or damage and check all connections to ensure that they are secure.
9Ensure that the voltage rating on the appliance suits the power supply to be used and that the plug is tted with the correct fuse - see
fuse rating in these instructions.
8DO NOT pull or carry the appliance by the power cable.
8DO NOT pull the plug from the socket by the cable. Remove the plug from the socket by maintaining a rm grip on the plug.
8DO NOT use worn or damaged cables, plugs or connectors. Ensure that any faulty item is repaired or replaced immediately by a
qualied electrician.
This product is tted with a BS1363/A 13 Amp 3 pin plug.
If the cable or plug is damaged during use, switch the electricity supply and remove from use.
Replace a damaged plug with a BS1363/A 13 Amp 3 pin plug. If in doubt contact a qualied electrician.
Class II products are wired with live (brown) and neutral (blue) only are marked with the Class II symbol;
A) Connect the BROWN live wire to the live terminal ‘L’.
B) Connect the BLUE neutral wire to the neutral terminal ‘N’.
C) After wiring, check that there are no bare wires and ensure that all wires have been correctly connected.
Ensure that the cable outer sheath extends inside the cable restraint and that the restraint is tight.
DO NOT connect either wire to the earth terminal.
Sealey recommend that repairs are carried out by a qualied electrician.
1.2. General Safety
9Disconnect the gun from the mains power before changing accessories, servicing or performing other maintenance.
9Maintain the hot air gun in good condition, use an authorised service agent.
9Use recommended accessories only. Unapproved accessories can be hazardous and will invalidate your warranty.
9Wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment. Work gloves and eye protection are mandatory. Protect long hair and remove
loose fitting garments and jewellery. Maintain correct balance and footing and wear non-slip shoes.
9Evaluate your work area before using the hot air gun. i.e. ceiling, floors and enclosures may contain flammable materials.
9Keep the work area clean, uncluttered and well lit. Use the hot air gun only in a well ventilated area.
9Ensure that small or irregular shaped objects are secured in a vice or clamps before you work on them.
9Stay alert! Always pay attention to the work in hand when operating this hot air gun.
9Guard against electric shock by not contacting grounded surfaces, i.e. pipes, radiators, etc. when using electric hand tools.
9Keep the hot air gun handle dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Clean any paint or varnish from the nozzle after use.
9Allow the hot air gun to cool before storing (only store when cold). Store the gun in a safe, dry place out of the reach of children.
8DO NOT direct the hot airflow at yourself, others, animals or plants and DO NOT allow children to operate the hot air gun.
8DO NOT use the hot air gun in rain or in a wet environment, or in areas of high humidity and damp (i.e. bathrooms, steam rooms, etc.).
8DO NOT obstruct the hot airflow by blocking or covering the air outlet.
8DO NOT touch the nozzle during, or after, use as it becomes extremely hot.
8DO NOT leave the hot air gun running unattended. Always turn off the power supply.
8DO NOT use the hot air gun on a task it is not designed for.
8DO NOT use the hot air gun in combination with chemical strippers.

8DO NOT operate the hot air gun when you are tired or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating medication.
▲DANGER! DO NOT USE THE HOT AIR GUN AS A HAIR DRYER.
LEAD PAINT WARNING! Paint once contained lead as a traditional ingredient. Paint particles, resulting from the removal of such
paint, are toxic and ingestion/inhalation must, therefore, be avoided. The following action must be taken before using this tool:
9The operator must determine potential hazard relating to age of paint to be removed (modern paints do not have lead content).
▲DANGER! Keep all persons and pets away from the work area. The following are particularly vulnerable to the effects of lead paint
dust: Expectant women, babies and children.
9We recommend personal protection by using the following safety items: Paint Spray Respirator, PE Coated Hooded Coverall, Latex
Gloves.
9Take adequate measures to contain the paint dust, flakes, and scrapings.
9When task is complete continue to wear safety equipment as in 1.3.3. and thoroughly clean all areas. Ensure paint waste is disposed
of in sealed bags or containers.
WARNING: The warnings, cautions and instructions discussed in this instruction manual cannot cover all possible conditions and
situations that may occur. It must be understood that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but
must be applied by the operator.
2. INTRODUCTION
Features three speed and temperature control. Suitable for paint stripping, soft soldering, removing sticky labels and defrosting frozen pipes.
Supplied with 4 nozzels and a scraper, making various tasks possible. Gun is designed to stand vertically, allowing use as a safe Bunsen
burner alternative. Fitted BS approved 3-pin safety plug

4. OPERATION
4.1. Preparing the hot air gun for use
4.1.1. Before plugging into the mains ensure the gun switch is in the ‘Off’ position.
4.1.2. When ready to start work, set power switch to the required temperature setting I (low), II (medium) or III (High). Allow time to heat up.
NOTE: When new, the hot air gun may generate smoke which will decrease with use.
WARNING! KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM THE IMMEDIATE NOZZLE AREA. IF LEAD PAINT IS BEING REMOVED FOLLOW THE
SAFETY WARNING AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS MANUAL. ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES AND EYE PROTECTION.
4.2. Paint and varnish removal
The easy removal of paint and varnish requires practice. Follow these simple working techniques to achieve the required result.
NOTE: The heat gun is designed to remove both oil and latex based paints and varnishes from surfaces. It will not remove stains or
primer coats that have impregnated the surface.
4.2.1. Attach the required nozzel.
4.2.2. Switch the hot air gun on and allow it to reach its operating temperature.
4.2.3. Always test on a small non-critical area first.
Hold the hot air gun nozzle 3” (75mm) to 4” (100mm) from the paint to be removed.
4.2.4. After a short time the paint will soften and begin to blister.
8DO NOT overheat the paint as this will cause it to burn which makes it more difficult to remove. Wear eye protection, especially
when stripping paint from overhead. If lead paint is being removed, refer to the warning at the beginning of this manual.
4.2.5. Begin scraping the paint off. Work from top to bottom. Use a scraper with smooth even strokes, warming the surface in front of the
scraper by moving the gun slightly from side to side.
4.2.6. If the correct temperature has been applied to the paint, thick, even layers can be removed in a single pass (paint should be removed
in strips equal in width to the scraper blade). Scrape paint as soon as it becomes soft, as it will re-harden very quickly.
4.2.7. Keep the scraper blade edge clean and sharp to prevent paint peelings from building up.
4.2.8. After softening, shaped or profiled surfaces may be stripped by using a wire brush.
4.2.9. To protect surrounding surfaces from the heat, cover with a non-flammable material.
8DO NOT concentrate the heat gun on glass as the glass may crack.
5. MAINTENANCE
5.1. Unplug the hot air gun from power supply before performing any maintenance.
5.2. Keep the air intake and outlet openings clean and free from dirt and peelings.
5.3. Use only a damp cloth and mild household cleaning agent to wipe the hot air gun clean. DO NOT use turpentine, paint thinner,
gasoline or similar substances to clean the hot air gun.
5.4. Check the hot air gun, power lead and nozzles for damage before storage.
5.5. Store the hot air gun in a safe, dry, childproof area.

Environmental Protection
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories and packaging should be
sorted, taken to a recycling centre and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with the environment.
When the product becomes completely unserviceable and requires disposal, drain off any fluids (if applicable)
into approved containers and dispose of the product and the fluids according to local regulations.
WEEE Regulations
Dispose of this product at the end of its working life in compliance with the EU Directive on
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). When the product is no longer required, it must be disposed
of in an environmentally protective way. Contact your local solid waste authority for recycling information.
