The AK2952 torch is portable and lightweight, suitable for heating, soldering, shrinking and many other applications. Powered by butane gas
(lighter fuel), the torch has slide switch ignition and automatic flame selection to give quick and clean operation.
AK2952 Kit comprises: Torch, Soldering Head, Solder Tip x 3, Hot Air Nozzle, Deflector Nozzle, Probe, Hot Knife, Stand and Sponge, Safety Cap.

3Familiarise yourself with the application and limitations, as well as the potential hazards, peculiar to the tool.
3Replace or repair damaged parts. Use genuine parts only. Unauthorised parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
8DO NOT repair the torch yourself, use an authorised service agent.

WARNING! Use and handle the butane gas (lighter fuel) in accordance with the instructions supplied with the fuel.
3Butane gas is highly flammable, so keep an appropriate fire extinguisher close to hand.
3Ensure there are no flammable or combustible materials near the work area.
3Keep the work area clean, uncluttered and ensure there is adequate ventilation and lighting.
3Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the working area.
3Remove ill fitting clothing. Remove ties, watches, rings and other loose jewellery, and contain and/or tie back long hair.
3Point the torch away from yourself and others when igniting flame.
3Keep hands and body clear of the torch head when operating as it becomes very hot.
3Secure unstable workpiece with a clamp, vice or other adequate holding device.
3Always use the integral stand when torch is not in use.
8DO NOT get the torch wet.
8DO NOT use torch where there are flammable liquids, solids or gases such as paint solvents and including waste wiping or cleaning rags etc.
8DO NOT use the torch for any purpose other than for which it is designed.
8DO NOT use accessories other than those supplied with, or manufactured specifically for use with, the torch.

WARNING! DO NOT touch the torch head during, or immediately after, use. Allow the torch to cool naturally before handling.
8DO NOT cool the torch in water.
8DO NOT point the torch at yourself, others, or animals.
8DO NOT operate the torch when you are tired, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating medication.
8DO NOT allow untrained persons to operate the torch.
8DO NOT operate the torch if any parts are damaged or missing as this may cause failure and/or personal injury.
8DO NOT touch the workpiece close to the heated area as it will be very hot. Allow to cool.
8DO NOT leave the torch, after use, until it has cooled.
3When work is complete, allow the torch to cool. Clean the torch and accessories, return to case and store in a safe, dry childproof location.
8DO NOT store in direct sunlight or where the temperature could exceed 104OF/40OC

DANGER! The flame is invisible in sunlight - be extremely cautious.

WARNING! Ensure you have read and understood the safety instructions in Section 1 before using the torch.
Note: The torch is supplied without butane gas. Before use it must be fuelled as follows:
3.1. TO FUEL THE TORCH
3.1.1. Use only high quality butane gas (lighter fuel) to fill the torch.
3.1.2. Ensure the On/Off switch is in the Off position. See fig. 1, On/Off Safety Switch.
3.1.3. Follow the instructions on the butane fuel can.
3.1.4. Apply the can filler tip to the torch base filler valve (figs. 1 & 2). Use a pumping action for best filling results.
3.1.5. Once full, allow gas in the torch to stand and stabilise for a few minutes before use.

2. INTRODUCTION

3.3. TO USE AS A HOT IRON (for shrink wrapping etc.)
3.3.1. Screw the hot air nozzle (fig. 4.A) onto the torch burner head.
3.3.2. Fit the deflector (fig. 4.B) if required.
3.3.3. For ignition follow steps 3.2.3. to 3.2.7. above. The torch is now ready for use as a heat
source for shrink wrapping etc.
3.4. TO USE AS A BURNER (with naked blue flame for burning or heating)
3.4.1. Unscrew the hot air nozzle or soldering head (if fitted). No attachments required for this mode.
3.4.2. Ignite the torch as in 3.2.3. to 3.2.4. above.
3.4.3. Adjust the flame with the flame control (fig. 1). Recommended flame length 10 - 25mm.
3.4.4. Apply flame to workpiece. Only use the minimum flame necessary. Too large a flame is less stable and will waste fuel.
3.5. TURNING OFF THE TORCH
3.5.1. When the job is complete move the flame control fully to - and the On/Off switch to Off.
3.5.2. Once the torch has cooled down, fit the transparent safety cap over the head to prevent accidental damage to the tip or head.
WARNING! The hot air nozzle or soldering head, if fitted, will be very hot. Allow to cool before handling.
3.6. GENERAL INFORMATION
1) Approximate operating time on one gas filling (8ml) - 40 minutes.
2) Keep the torch clean and store safely in case provided.
3) For spare soldering/heating tips and parts contact your local Sealey dealer.
3.2. TO USE AS A SOLDERING IRON or POLYFOAM CUTTER

CAUTION: ENSURE ALL PARTS ARE COOL FROM ANY PREVIOUS USE BEFORE PROCEEDING.
3.2.1. Screw the required soldering tip, cutter or probe (fig. 3) to the threaded soldering head.
3.2.2. Screw the soldering head onto the torch burner head (fig. 1) as far as it will go.
3.2.3. Turn On/Off safety switch to On position and move flame control (fig. 1) towards + until the gas can
just be heard hissing.
3.2.4. To ignite the flame, slide the ignition switch (fig. 1) forward until a sharp click is heard. Hold switch in this position for approximately
two seconds after ignition.
3.2.5. Allow the soldering head to heat up for about five seconds in order to heat the ceramic element which is inside. Observe the element
through the air hole (fig. 3.C), it should glow red.
3.2.6. Turn the flame control (fig. 1) to adjust the gas flow to the minimum which will sustain the ceramic glow.
3.2.7. Allow the torch to stand for about 2 minutes in order to achieve maximum output.
Note: If you cease working and intend to restart, allow all parts to cool before following above procedure again.
The torch will not ignite. No fuel.
Too high or too low gas pressure.
Air holes blocked.
Damaged torch/piezo fault.
Refill with butane gas.
Adjust the flame control.
Check that all holes are clear.
Contact Service Agent/ignite with external flame.
Tip does not heat up. Ceramic element is worn or
damaged.
Poor gas pressure.
Replace.
Re-fill with gas or allow cold gas to warm up - shake gently to assist warming.
