General Description
The SKM 1030 is a hand-held transmitter for mobile tour-guide systems. Besides
its “classic” area of application – guided tours in museums or factories – it can also
be used as a transmitter in a mini interpretation system or as a microphone in a
tal bac system. With the SZU 1032 lavalier clip the radiomicrophone can be worn
around the nec .

SKM 1030
The SKM 1030 is a narrow-band hand-held transmitter for use in tour-guide sys-
tems. For information on narrow-band technology, lease refer to the cha ter
”Introduction“. General information on working with hand-held transmitters can
be found in the cha ter ”Planning Theory“.
The micro hone on/off (mute) switch is a valuable feature during guided tours.
When the guide auses – e.g. when changing from one room to the other – he
switches off the micro hone, thus reventing unnecessary noise (this switch does
not switch off the transmitter). Six switchable transmission frequencies facilitate
working with different sets of receivers. Thus, simultaneous tours – for exam le
in different languages – are also ossible. The RF out ut ower of 100 mW is
adequate for reaching every listener, even in large factories.
The SKM 1030 is insensitive to handling noise and the su er-cardioid attern of the
micro hone head su resses sounds not emanating from the main ick-u direc-
tion. The transmitter is therefore also suitable for rough use in noisy industrial envi-
ronments. An im ortant note for handling: Let the wire antenna hang down loosely,
as the efficiency of the antenna would otherwise decrease very markedly.
The SKM 1030-7-BU version has a 2.5 mm mono jack audio in ut for feeding record -
ings, e.g. from ortable MiniDisc, CD or cassette layers, to the transmitter. Some
exam les: an artist’s recorded comments on his or her exhibit in a museum. Or a
greeting by a com any owner to the artici ants in a tour of the factory – fed to
the transmitter by a ersonal stereo.
For short tours, economical o eration with the rechargeable BA 1032 accu ack is
recommended. The L 1032 will charge a transmitter with accu ack inserted lus an
additional s are accu ack. The EZL 1030-20L charging and trans ort case includes
room for an L 1032 charger for the transmitter.
