Hicom 150 E Office
Hicom 150 E Office is a state-of-the-art communi-
cation system that is designed for maximum user-
friendliness. It is connected to the public network
via ISDN and/or conventional analog trunks.
Operation is greatly simplified by a new system of
self-explanatory user prompts on a display. The
new motto is display and select.
This user manual shows you, the system adminis-
tration specialist, how to adapt your Hicom 150 E
Office system with your system telephone to suit
the relevant operational requirements (= system
administration using Assistant TC).
Your Hicom 150 E Office system can also be ad-
ministered via a PC (= system administration via
Assistant C).
System administration can be carried out
from the two system telephones with the
lowest station numbers (such as 11 and 12
or 100 and 101).
The following system telephones can be
used for system administration:
optiset E standard,
optiset E advance plus/comfort,
optiset E advance conference/conference,
and optiset E memory.
Texts can be entered on the optiset E
memory model.

Because of the menu-driven user prompts, it is not
necessary to provide a complete description of the
detailed operating procedures for system adminis-
tration. Therefore, this manual contains only an ex-
planation of the main menus and submenus and
how they can be activated. The user prompting on
the display takes over from there.
One copy of this user manual is enclosed with
each system and is intended for system adminis-
tration only.
In addition, one user manual to be used by system
administration for reference purposes is enclosed
with each system for the optiset E system tele-
phones.
At least one set of operating instructions for tone
dialing, pulse dialing, and ISDN telephones is also
provided with each system.
Operating instructions are provided for the individ-
ual users of the system telephones.

Before you Start ...
Purpose
You can perform the available system administra-
tion functions for your Hicom 150 E Office from a
system telephone with the appropriate class of
service using the menu-driven user prompting.

This user manual is intended for the person (sys-
tem administration specialist) responsible for over-
seeing and administering the Hicom 150 E Office
system and the telephones connected to it.
Prerequisite
You are familiar with the system telephone user
manual so that you are well prepared to carry out
system administration.

For some settings on your Hicom 150 E Office sys-
tem it is necessary to know which model you have.
If you are not sure which variant you have, simply
compare your installation with the illustrations be-
low.

For system administration, you can also use the
“Enter”key, the cursor keys, and the DEL key on
the alphanumeric keypad:
The required function and menus for continuing
operation appear on the display.
When “>”appears to the right of the last line of
the display, further functions are available. You can
view these functions by pressing the “next”dialog
key.

Cleaning the Telephone
z
Always use a damp or antistatic cloth to clean
the surface of the telephone. Never use a dry
cloth.
z
Use only diluted neutral cleaners containing
surfactants to clean very dirty telephones. Af-
terwards remove all traces of the cleaner with
a damp cloth (using water only).
z
Never allow the telephone to come into con-
tact with aggressive cleaning pastes or
agents that contain alcohol and attack plastic.
z
When cleaning your telephone, do not use
abrasive cleaning agents or chemicals that at-
tack plastic.
General Information
z
Never insert objects into the openings in the
equipment.
z
Use only optiset E local power supplies with
the power rating specified.
z
Use only the accessories recommended by
Siemens.
z
Siemens accepts no liability for consequential
loss, such as charges for connections which
have been set up inadvertently.
Refer to the data sheets for details on the
optiset E system telephones, adapters,
and telephone accessories.

System telephones
–are not intended or approved for opera-
tion in connection with main stations.
–must not be operated in the immediate
vicinity of radio equipment.
–must not be installed on sensitive sur-
faces. Because the plastic feet and ca-
bles are liable to leave unsightly marks,
you should use a non-slip underlay.
–must not be exposed to direct sunlight
or other sources of heat.
–must not be exposed to spray from
drinks or other fluids.
–must not be used in very dusty rooms.
–must be opened only by a qualified tech-
nician.
–must not be painted or covered by films
attached with adhesive.
–must not be dropped.
–must be properly disposed of as elec-
tronics waste at the end of the service
life. Contact your Sales representative
for proper disposal methods.

System Administration
Before you begin, you must start system adminis-
tration. Once system administration has been
started, the main menus and functions are shown
on the display and can be modified. For details on
the individual functions contained in the main
menus, please refer to the main menu/submenu
table (

23). This table is followed by an explana-
tion of the various functions (note page referenc-
es).
By following the prompts on the display (
Æ
16),
you can now adapt your system to operational re-
quirements by activating or confirming the func-
tions and menu options as required.
Starting System Administration
1.
Press the Program/Service Menu key; the LED is
illuminated.

Check the display. Scroll to
“ System administra-
tion?”and confirm your selection.

Enter the “System administration”code.
3.
Enter user name
(The default setting is “*95”and can be changed
by the service technician).
