4.1 I/O module
De󹪝nition
The RQ 4x120VDC-230VAC/5A CO HA I/O module is a digital output module with 4 power
outputs for process control.
In addition to the technical speci󹪝cations, this module has the following properties:
NOTICE
I/O modules with relay contacts
• I/O modules with relay contacts are only suitable for an altitude up to 3000 m (corresponds
to air pressure from around 690 hPa).
• Within the context of tests regarding the mechanical environmental conditions, I/O
modules with relay contacts are tested and approved in accordance with the relay
manufacturer’s speci󹪝cations. Shock intensity:
– Peak value 98 m/s²
– Duration 11 ms
• Change-over contact (CO: changeover) combination of an NC and an NO contact
• Suitable for solenoid valves, DC contactors, and indicator lights
• Parameter reassignment in RUN
• Output disable switch

4.3 Output disable switch
De󹪝nition
The output disable switch switches the NO contact of the I/O module load-free.
NOTICE
Dangerous plant conditions possible (disconnect the load)
If you want to pull the I/O module in runtime, you have to press the output disable switch for
3 seconds so that the NO contact for the I/O module is load-free.

4.4 Pulling the I/O module in runtime
Requirement
The normally closed contacts are closed.
Procedure
Press the output disable switch for 3 seconds.
Note
Pressing the output disable switch interrupts any ongoing 󹪝rmware update. A 󹪝rmware update
cannot be performed when the device is deenergized.
Result
The I/O module is load-free.

The LED DIAG 󹪞ashes red, the LED MT lights up yellow and the I/O module generates a
diagnostics message.

The terminal blocks provide the process terminals (push-in terminals) for components to be
connected such as devices.
Description

5.1 Terminal assignment
De󹪝nition
The pin assignment provides information about the arrangement and marking of the
connections when wiring a connector.
WARNING
Risk of death or serious injury from electric shock!
Prior to working on the system and module, always disconnect them from the power supply.
NOTICE
External fuse for relay outputs
The outputs have to be protected with an external safety fuse with a maximum trip current of
6 A. The fuse has to be a micro fuse with the fast trigger characteristic.

Enabling of the diagnostics for missing or insu󹪟cient supply voltage L+.
6.3.2 Channel activated
De󹪝nition
Speci󹪝es whether a channel is activated or deactivated.
6.3.3 Reaction to CPU STOP
De󹪝nition
Speci󹪝es the behavior of the digital output as a reaction to CPU stop or to failure of
communication between the interface module and CPU.
6.3.4 Substitute value
De󹪝nition
The substitute value is output by the module at CPU STOP if you set the "Reaction to CPU STOP"
parameter to "Substitute value".
Description
The entered substitute value is output by the I/O module in the following cases:
• When there is no connection to the CPU (for example, PROFInet cable unplugged)
• With CPU STOP
