Take the following safety precautions when supplying the device with a
> 60 VDC/VAC dangerous contact voltage:
●Ensure that the protective conductor (PE) in the power supply cable is
connected to the PE terminal .
●There must be a means (main switch or circuit breaker) of
disconnecting the devices upstream in the supply system or the building
installation.

Ensure that connection cables carrying a
> 60 VDC/VAC dangerous contact voltage are secured against disconnection
by being pulled out. Lay the cables in cable ducts or cable channels and, if

Repairs
Repairs to the device may only be performed by authorized specialists.
ESD guidelines
Modules containing electrostatic sensitive devices (ESDs) can be identified by the
following label:
Strictly follow the guidelines mentioned below when handling modules containing ESDs:
•Before working with modules containing ESDs, you must discharge all your
personal static e.g. by touching a grounded object.
•All devices and tools must be free of static charge.
•Always pull out the power plug before connecting or disconnecting modules
containing ESDs.
•Handle modules containing ESDs by their edges only.
•Do not touch any pins.

Unauthorized opening or improperly performed repairs can cause considerable
damage to property and/or danger to users.

Functional description 2
The SICLOCK PCON pulse converter enables electrical and optical distribution
of time message frames and pulses. The advantage of data transmission via
fiber-optic cables lies in the high degree of interference immunity and the ability
to bridge great distances. The device has three electrical inputs and one optical
input as well as five electrical outputs and one optical output. The ES03 device
version is intended for connection to multimode fiber-optic cables.
The pulse converter can be operated in two different modes. In transparent mode,
the input signal is transmitted in parallel to all outputs without any change in the
pulse length. In pulse mode, the rising or falling edge of the input signal triggers
a pulse with a parameterizable length. This pulse is transmitted in parallel to all
electrical outputs. The device parameters are assigned via a DIP switch on the
front of the housing.
The device is equipped with a floating alarm contact for monitoring the data
transfer. The devices can be operated with a power supply in the range of
24 to 230 VDC or 48 to 230 VAC.

The SICLOCK PCON is mounted on a 35mm DIN rail. The power supply is con-
nected to terminals 14 and 15 of the terminal strip X1, and must generally be con-
nected by a separate cable. The electrical inputs are also found on terminal strip
X1. All electrical outputs are found on terminal strip X2. In general, signal lines
should always be twisted and shielded control lines. The shield should be con-
nected to the equipotential bonding terminal of the electronics cabinet.

4.1 Block diagram
The following diagram shows the connection of the input and output interfaces.
All inputs are joined together internally by means of an OR function so that only
one input is allowed to be connected for transmission of an explicit signal. The
optical output is connected directly to the OR gate and cannot be influenced by
the device parameter assignment. The operating modes described in the follow-
ing sections can be used for electrical outputs. The parameters are assigned
exclusively via a DIP switch on the front of the housing.

4.2 Operating modes
4.2.1 Transparent mode
In transparent mode, the input signal is transmitted unchanged to the output. It is
simply transferred to another electrical interface. This mode is always used to
transfer telegrams, DCF77 and IRIG signals.
4.2.2 Pulse mode
In this mode, a pulse with a constant pulse length is emitted at the output. In pulse
mode, it is possible to choose between three triggering methods. Pulse mode is
always used to transmit second and minute pulses
•In the case of automatic triggering triggering always occurs on the first pulse
edge of the input signal, i.e. triggering always occurs on the positive edge of a
high-active pulse and on the negative edge of a low-active pulse. This type of
triggering only functions for pulse widths of less than 300ms, and is therefore
used only in the SICLOCK environment. A pulse with the specified pulse
length is then emitted at all electrical outputs. This pulse can still be inverted
at the output, if required.

•Triggering on the positive edge of the input signal.
This type of triggering is only useful for a high-active input signal. A high-active
pulse with the specified pulse length is generated at all electrical outputs. The
output pulse can still be inverted, if required.

This type of triggering is only useful for a low-active input signal. A low-active
pulse with the specified pulse length is generated at all electrical outputs. The
output pulse can still be inverted, if required.

4.3 Parameter assignment
All device settings can be made by means of the DIP switch S1 on the front of the
housing.
•The mode is set with switches 1 and 2. The following table lists all possible
operating modes.
•The pulse length is set with switches 3 and 4. Four different pulse lengths can
be set in pulse mode.

•Switch 5 can be used to invert the output signal of all electrical outputs.
•The SICLOCK PCON provides the option of monitoring all inputs or the
120 VDC voltage output. For this purpose, a check is made to determine
whether a status change takes place on the signal lines. If a steady signal of
an appropriate length is detected, an alarm contact is activated. Switch 6 can
be used to activate this monitoring function. Switch 7 is used to specify
whether the inputs or the output is to be monitored. Switch 8 can be used to
specify whether the alarm relay switches after 3 seconds or 3 minutes in the
event of a missing signal change.

5.1 Voltage output
The power supplies for the 24V/0.8A output and the 24 to 120 VDC/0.1A output
must also be connected externally. The amplitude of the output voltage for the
24V/0.8A output corresponds to the connected supply voltage (12 to 30 VDC).
For the 24 to 120 VDC/0.1 A output, the amplitude of the output voltage corre-
sponds to the connected supply voltage (24 to 120 VDC) minus at least 4V.
The following figure shows the interconnection of the 24V/0.8A output with the
associated power supply.

5.2 Redundancy
For highly reliable transmissions, two redundant transmission lines can be config-
ured and the isolated voltage outputs of the two devices at the end of the line can
be connected in parallel to the input of the device to be synchronized. If input
signal monitoring is activated, the voltage outputs will be disabled when an alarm
occurs. This setting must be assigned for low-active output signals. For a
high-active output signal, monitoring of the output circuit can be activated at the
120 VDC voltage output

The SICLOCK PCON has an optical input and output. They are provided for
connecting an 820nm multimode fiber-optic cable.
6.1 Multimode
The following table summarizes the launchable transmission power and the
receiving sensitivity of the SICLOCK PCON for various types of glass fiber. The
