1 About this document
Goal and purpose
This document describes commissioning of the hardware components of control
panel CS1140/45. Safe applications will result from consistently following these in-
structions.
Scope of validity
This document contains information valid for software variant EP7F.
Target audience
This product documentation and the operating instructions are intended for the fol-
lowing people, who carry out a particular job and have been trained for it.
Group of persons Activity Qualification
Commissioning personnel They configure the product, device or system in
accordance with the customer's specification on
site.
Check the product operability and release the
product, system or device for use by the operator
/ customer. They are also responsible for trouble-
shooting.
They have had the training appropriate to his/her
function and to the products, devices and systems

nical training courses for commissioning person-

2Safety regulations
This chapter describes the danger levels and the relevant safety regulations appli-
cable for the use of our products. Please read the work instructions as well as the
chapter 1 'About this document' before beginning any work.
2.1 Signal words and symbols
2.1.1 Classification and meaning of signal words
The danger level - that is, the severity and probability of danger - is indicated by
the signal words listed below. Non-observance may lead to the consequences in-
dicated:
DANGER
Imminent danger!
κMay cause danger to life or serious bodily injury!
WARNING
Dangerous situation!
κMay cause serious bodily harm.
CAUTION
May cause dangerous situations!
κMay cause minor injuries!
NOTE
Possibly harmful situation!
κMay cause damage to the product or to objects in the immediate vicinity of the
product!
2.1.2 Symbols and their meaning
The symbols listed below indicate the nature and origin of the danger.

Tips and information.
Refers to extremely important or critical decisions to be taken into account before continuing the work.
2.2 Safety-relevant working instructions
Country-specific standards
The products are developed and produced in compliance with the relevant Euro-
pean safety standards. Should additional country-specific, local safety standards or
regulations concerning planning, assembly, installation, operation and disposal of
the product apply in the place of operation, then these standards or regulations
must also be taken into account in addition to the safety regulations mentioned in
the product documentation.
Electrical installations
DANGER
Work on electrical
installations
Work on electrical installations may only be carried out by qualified electricians
or by instructed persons working under the guidance and supervision of a quali-
fied electrician, in accordance with the electrotechnical regulations.
κControl panels must be disconnected from the power supply during commission-
ing or maintenance work whenever possible.
κConnection terminals with an external voltage supply must be provided with a
sign reading 'DANGER – External voltage'.
κMains leads to the control panel must be installed separately and provided with
a clearly marked fuse.
κEarthing must be carried out in compliance with local safety regulations.
κWhen work is carried out in explosion-hazardous areas, the appropriate safety
precautions must be taken.
Assembly, installation, commissioning and inspection work
κIf any tools or accessories such as ladders are required, safe and suitable de-
vices must be used.
κSpurious activation of the remote transmission must be reliably prevented.
κAlways inform the fire brigade before testing the remote transmission.
κThe activation of fire controls for test purposes must not cause damage to the
system or parts thereof.
κFire controls must only be activated after the test has been completed and the
system has been definitely handed over to the customer.
κThird party systems or devices must only be activated in the presence of the re-
sponsible person.
κWhen work on management stations and system terminals is performed, the
safety regulations of the connected sub-systems must be observed. This
especially applies when switching off system components.
κIn the case of extinguishing systems, always use the "General installation in-
structions" as a guideline. These guidelines are available on request.

Testing the product operability
κEvacuate and cordon off the extinguishing sector.
κInform people about the possibility of fogging and noise.
κInform people before testing alarm devices; take the possibility of panic reac-
tions into account.
κInform the alarm and fault receiving stations connected to the system before car-
rying out the tests.
Changes to the system configuration and products
Modifications to a system or to individual products may cause faults or malfunction-
ing. Please request written approval from us and the relevant authorities concern-
ing intended system modifications and system extensions.
Components and spare parts
κLocally procured components and spare parts must comply with the technical
specifications laid down by the manufacturer. This compliance is always
ensured with original spare parts.
κOnly use fuses with the specified fuse characteristics.
κWrong battery types and improper battery changing lead to a risk of explosion.
Only use the specified battery type or an equivalent battery type recommended
by the manufacturer.
κBatteries require environmentally safe disposal. They must be handed in at the
local collecting points.
κPlease take into account that the extinguishing agent cylinders are pressurized
and must be replaced in compliance with the local safety regulations.

3.1 Commissioning the system

Precondition for complete work
1. Control panel fitted and detector lines ready for connection (1), or detector lines
connected to separate connection panel (2).
2. Peripheral devices such as operating terminal (3), plain text operating terminal,
parallel display, etc. fitted and connected to control panel.
3. Mains connection fitted and can be switched on.
4. Detector lines, alarm devices etc. are connected.
5. Interactive and AnalogPLUS detector lines tested with base tester or line tester.
6. All stationary devices such as manual call points, I/O modules fitted (exception:
Use AnalogPLUS input/output modules during subsequent programming).
7. Fire control cable in control panel ready for connection.
8. The hardware needed is present (plug-in modules, board holder, accessories,
terminal, possibly EPROM/RAM kits, batteries, all detectors for localization).
