1 Introduction
1.1 Important notes
Only authorized personnel are permitted to make diagnostics, to rectify faults and
to restart the plant. This also applies to work carried out within the control panel
(e.g. safety checks or replacement of fuses).
Note is used to emphasize the essential information. Be sure to read it to avoid
incorrect operation.
Cross-references are marked with .A topic is closely related to other contents
or described in details at other location in this document. In order to keep the
manual lean and show you how topics are interrelated, cross-references are used.
The Climatix HMI-DM products can only be used in the field of heating, ventilation,
air conditioning and refrigeration.
Prerequisites for flawless and safe operation of the Climatix HMI-DM products are
proper transport, installation and commissioning, as well as correct operation.
Fuses, switches, wiring and grounding must comply with local safety regulations for
electrical installations.
The Climatix HMI-DM products can only be operated by personnel who have been
instructed by Siemens Building Technologies or their delegates and whose
attention has been drawn to potential risks.
When wiring the system, high voltage section must be strictly segregated from the
AC 24 V safety extra low-voltage (SELV) section in order to ensure protection
against electric shock hazard!
Always observe the limits for storage and transport specified in the relevant Data
Sheets.
The Climatix HMI-DM products are maintenance-free, apart from cleaning at
regular intervals. System sections accommodated in the control panel should be
free from dust and dirt whenever normal service visits are conducted.
Should system faults occur and you are not authorized to make diagnostics and to
rectify faults, call your service personnel of Siemens Building Technologies.
The materials used in this product comply with 2002/95/EC directive of European
RoHS regulation and ACPEIP directive of China RoHS regulation.
The products contain electrical and electronic components and must not be
disposed of as domestic waste.
The relevant national legal regulations must be complied with and the products
must be disposed of via the appropriate channels. Local and currently valid
legislation must be observed!


1.2 Purpose and scope
This document provides information regarding the HMI-DM device, including its
functions and operations. The programming of HMI-DM is not covered in this
document, but shall be governed by the Climatix SCOPE.
The target audiences of this document are technical personnel of OEM ACR
customer, who may use the information provided in this document to write user
manual for dedicated application.

1.4 Human machine interface
The Climatix HMI-DM is designed for display, system configuration, set-up and
operation. It is a product of the Climatix range, supporting all Climatix range of
controllers.
The Climatix HMI-DM cannot be used to operate any 3rd-party devices.

2 Connections
2.1 Local connection
The local connection is a peer-to-peer connection between one HMI-DM and one
Climatix 600 controller. The HMI-DM provides RJ45 connector on both sides for
local connection.
Two types of standard 8-wire twisted net cable can be used via RJ45 connector.
One type is shielded cable, and the maximum distance between HMI-DM and
controller is 50 m; the other is unshielded cable, and its maximum distance is 3 m.
Without additional power supply, one single Climatix 600/400 controller can only
supply one HMI-DM.

2.2 Remote connection
HMI-DM can be connected to controller via process bus. It is possible to connect in
the same system several HMI-DM, controllers and other Climatix devices with
process bus functionality. Refer to CB1P3903en, section 10 “Climatix process bus”
for more information about network’s characteristics and limit.

Upon connecting, the HMI-DM can automatically detect and allocate an individual
address for itself, supporting plug-and-play feature. The HMI-DM is able to detect
all devices on the network segment and display their device name and individual
address (if available), and the supported controllers will be marked as accessible
(refer to section 4.3 Controller access for details). The HMI-DM must exit from
the connection with one controller before accessing to another one.
2.3 Network with both local and remote
connection
More than one HMI-DM can access to one dedicated controller simultaneously, no
matter whether the connection is local or remote. One locally connected HMI-DM
and other remotely connected HMI-DMs can work together.

2.4 USB interface
The HMI-DM is equipped with a USB interface. Users can connect the HMI-DM to
a PC via USB interface to upgrade the firmware.

3 HMI-DM overview
This section introduces the overview of Climatix HMI-DM.
3.1 Function keys
The function keys of HMI-DM are illustrated as follows:

Password Management for details)

3.2 LED indicators
3.3 Display specification
The FSTN LCD with dot matrix resolution of HMI-DM is 208*96 pixels
(width*height).
The size of LCD screen is 90*44.5 mm (width*height). The size of visible area is
80*37 mm (width*height).
For Latin (English) characters, font size 6*12 pixels (width*height) is supported; For
Eastern Asian characters such as Chinese, font size 12*12 pixels (width*height) is
supported.

Title

The title line, which will never be highlighted, supports all tokens
and has the same characteristics as a normal line in content area.
Application engineer can define the target page on this line, and
when users press key INFO and the current user level has the
privilege to access to this target page, it will redirect to this page.

SCOPE online help.

If there is writable value (data point) in a line, the whole line will be highlighted
when selected.
If there is no writable value in a line, the first string will be highlighted when the line
is selected.
In the case that 6*12 Latin characters are used, maximum 8 lines can be displayed
in one screen. Maximum 31 characters can be displayed in each line including the
submenu indictor “►”.
In the case that 12*12 Eastern Asian characters such as Chinese are used,
maximum 8 lines can be displayed in one screen. Maximum 15 characters can be
displayed in each line including the submenu indicator “►”.

4 Functions and operations
4.1 Start up
Upon powering on, a version page will be displayed on the screen. On this page,
“VXXXX” refers to the version number and “BXXXX” refers to the build number.
If “NO PRODUCT ID” is displayed on the screen, please return the HMI-DM to
factory for check.
Press and hold key ESC on any page to go to the following page.
4.2 HMI settings
The HMI setting page supports multi-language. The actual displaying language
depends on the template configured in the controller.
Select HMI Settings on the above page. Then press key ROLL to go to the
following page:
The first line indicates the version number “0.99” and the build number “0042” as
well as the product ID “[00:FD:10:80:00:6D]” in the process bus.
Users can change the screen settings on this page, such as backlight color,
backlight turn off time, contrast, and brightness.

The backlight color is configurable to be blue or white. Follow the steps to change
the backlight color.
1. Select Backlight Color on the HMI setting page.
2. Press key ROLL, and turn the knob to select the color.
3. Press key ROLL to confirm. Then the backlight color will be changed.
The backlight of HMI-DM will automatically turn off if there is no operation within a
period of time (0…300 seconds, configurable). Follow the steps to change the
backlight turn off time.
1. Select Backlight Turn Off Time.
2. Press key ROLL, and then turn the knob to change the value.

3. Press key ROLL to confirm the selection.
The backlight is always ON when the value is set to “0”.
The contrast ratio of HMI-DM screen can be configured from 0 to 100.
Refer to Backlight color for value editing.

4.3 Controller access
1. On the following page of HMI-DM, select Controller List and then press key
ROLL.
2. It will detect all the connected devices automatically. If other devices are
connected to the HMI-DM via local connection, it will redirect to the following
page:
3. If other devices are connected to the HMI-DM via process bus, it will display
the individual address and controllers’ names of all devices. The controllers
with submenu “►” are accessible.

4. Turn the knob of key ROLL to select one controller and press key ROLL to
confirm the selection. Then the communication between the HMI-DM and the
selected controller will be set up.

5. It will check whether the fonts and templates (HMI.bin file) exist (The HMI-DM
stores 4 different templates to minimize the time of re-downloading). If yes, it
will perform the next step directly. If not, the process of downloading fonts and
templates from controller to the HMI-DM will begin. A process bar will be
displayed to indicate the process as follows:
6. If the version of controller BSP is above 7.32, the line suppression function
(refer to Climatix SCOPE online help for details) in controller will be enabled
and the HMI-DM will begin to download the objects. A process bar will be
displayed to indicate the process as follows:
7. After the objects have been downloaded, it will redirect to the following page
as follows:
If the version of controller BSP is below 7.32, it will redirect to the home page
without downloading the objects.

4.4 Log in
After the communication between HMI and controller has been set up, users can
log in with one of the following different user levels listed in the table.

After users enter one of these 5 pages from templates, press key INFO, and then it
will check if the title line of the corresponding templates has defined the target page
and if the current user level has enough privileges. If yes, it will redirect to the
defined target page. If not, it will redirect to the home page.

2. Press key INFO on the above page and it will redirect to the home page as
follows:
Users can enter the login page by two ways: entering the password from template
or pressing and holding key ROLL at any page (except the error report pages). On
the login page, input 4-digits (0…9) password predefined in application for different
user levels.
1. Choose a digit by turning the knob of key ROLL.
2. Press key ROLL to confirm the input, and the input value will become an
asterisk “*” as follows.
Press key ESC to exit from the current page. Press and hold key ROLL to re-
enter the password.
3. Enter correct 4-digit password and it will check if the title line of page
“65410” has defined the target page and if the user level has enough
privileges. If yes, it will redirect to the target page. Otherwise, it will
redirect to the home page. The corresponding user level will be displayed
on the upper-left corner as follows.

4. If the password is entered incorrectly, it will redirect to the home page, and
the user level will be “Not login”.
5. Press key INFO on this page to automatically check if the target page has
been defined on page 65410 and if the user level has enough privileges. If
yes, it will redirect to the target page.
1. Press and hold key ROLL to go to the password entering page. Choose a
digit by turning the knob of key ROLL.
2. Press key ROLL to confirm the input, and the input value will become an
asterisk “*”.
Press key ESC to exit from the current page. Press and hold key ROLL to re-
enter the password.
3. If the password is entered correctly, the page where users activate the
password entering page will be displayed, and the corresponding user
level will be shown on the upper-left corner.
