appliance complies with statutory safety regulations. Improper use may result in
personal injury and property damage.

Contact with live cables or components can result

Please observe the following safety guidelines to prevent
electrical hazards:
► Do not use the appliance if the power cable or the plug are
damaged.
► Before using the appliance again, have a new mains power
cable installed by an authorised specialist.
► The appliance housing must not be opened under any
circumstances. There is a risk of electric shock if live con-
nections are touched and the electrical and mechanical
structure is changed.

Basic safety guidelines
To ensure safe operation of the appliance, follow the safety
guidelines set out below:
■ C heck the appliance for visible external damage before
use. Do not operate a appliance that has been damaged or
dropped.
■ If the appliance‘s mains power cable is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, the manufacturer‘s customer
service department or by a qualified technician so that risks
can be avoided.
■ This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years and
above and by persons with limited physical, sensory or
mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge,
provided that they are under supervision or have been told
how to use the appliance safely and are aware of the poten-
tial risks.
Children must not use the appliance as a plaything. Clean-
ing and user maintenance tasks may not be carried out by
children unless they are supervised.
■ Children younger than three years old should be kept away
from the appliance unless they are constantly monitored.
■ Children older than 3 and younger than 8 years of age may
only switch the appliance on and off if they are supervised
or instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have un-
derstood the resulting dangers, provided that the appliance
is located or installed in its normal operating position.
■ Children older than 3 and younger than 8 years of age may
not plug in, regulate or clean the appliance and may not
carry out user maintenance tasks.
■ Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the appliance.Caution – some parts of the product
may be very hot and cause burns. Be particularly careful
when children and vulnerable persons are present.

■ The metal surfaces of the appliance can become hot.
Therefore, only hold the appliance by the handles 9.
■ All repairs must be carried out by authorised specialist com-
panies or by the Customer Service department. Improper re-
pairs can pose significant risks to the user. It will also invali-
date any warranty claims.
■ Defective components must always be replaced with original
replacement parts. Only by using original replacement parts
can it be assured that the safety requirements are being com-
plied with.
■ Protect the appliance from penetration by moisture and liquids.
■ Always unplug the appliance from the mains power socket
before cleaning.
■ Always disconnect the power cable from the mains power
socket by pulling on the plug; never pull on the cable.
■ Avoid using extension cables.
■ Do not use the appliance in the vicinity of naked flames.
■ The appliance must not be placed immediately under or over
a mains power socket.
■ Do not use this heater together with a programmable switch,
a timer, a separate remote control system or any other system
which switches on the heater automatically, as this could lead
to a fire risk if the heater is covered or set up incorrectly.
■ Disconnect the plug from the mains power socket if the appli-
ance malfunctions and also during thunderstorms.
■ The appliance must not be used in the immediate vicinity of
a bath, a shower or a swimming pool.
■ The appliance is to be installed so that a person in the bath
or shower is unable to touch the switch and other controls.
■ Do not expose the appliance to spray and/or dripping water
and do not place any objects filled with liquid, such as vases
or open drink containers, on or near the appliance.

Risk of injury if batteries are improperly handled
WARNING
► Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Children might
put batteries into their mouth and swallow them. If a battery
has been swallowed, seek medical assistance IMMEDIATELY.
► Do not throw batteries into a fire. Never subject batteries to
high temperatures.
► Risk of explosion! Do not charge batteries unless they are
explicitly labelled as "rechargeable".
► Do not open the batteries or short-circuit them.
► Do not mix different types of batteries. Due to increased
risk of leakage, empty batteries should be removed. The
batteries should also be removed from the remote control if
it is not being used for long periods.
► Battery acid leaking from a battery can cause skin irritati-
on. In the event of contact with the skin, rinse with plenty of
water. If the liquid comes into contact with your eyes, rinse
thoroughly with water, do not rub and consult a doctor
immediately.
► When handling leaking batteries, always use coated
gloves and protective goggles!
► The chapter entitled "Before use" describes how to correctly
insert and remove batteries.

Before use
Package contents and transport inspection
The appliance is supplied with the following components as standard:

▯ 1 remote control
▯ 1 CR2032 button cell
▯ 2 feet
▯ 4 screws for the feet

NOTE
► Check the package for completeness and for signs of visible damage.
► If any items are missing or damaged as a result of defective packaging or insufficient
care during transportation, contact the Service hotline (see the chapter Service).
Set-up location requirements
For safe and trouble-free operation of the appliance, the set-up location must fulfil the
following requirements:
■ The appliance may only be operated in a vertical position and fully assembled.
■ The appliance must be placed on a firm, flat and horizontal surface.
■ The minimum clearances between the housing and other objects must be main-
tained: 10 cm at the sides, 30 cm above and 50 cm in front.
■ Ensure that air can always enter and escape freely. Otherwise, there could be a
heat build-up in the appliance.
■ Do not place the appliance in a hot, wet or extremely moist environment or in the
vicinity of flammable materials.
■ The mains power socket must be easily accessible so that the power cable can
be easily disconnected in an emergency.
DANGER
Fire risk due to contact with materials!
There is a risk of fire if the heating elements come into contact with
flammable materials!
► Do not place the appliance in the vicinity of curtains and other flammable materials.
► Do not allow flammable materials (i.e. textiles) to come into contact with the
appliance.
► Do not cover the appliance.

Before initial use
■ Remove all packaging materials and all transport locks from the appliance.
NOTE
► You may notice a slight smell when using the appliance for the first time. This is
normal and is completely harmless.
Electrical connection
To ensure safe and trouble-free operation of the appliance after making the electrical
connection, please observe the following advice:
CAUTION
► Before connecting the appliance, compare the connection data (voltage and
frequency) on the rating plate with that of your mains power supply. These data
must agree so that no damage is sustained by the appliance.
► Ensure that the mains power cable is not damaged and is not running over hot
surfaces and/or sharp edges.
► Ensure that the mains power cable is not taut or knotted.
Inserting/changing the remote control battery
If the battery in the remote control 25 is dead, a new CR2032 battery needs to be
inserted.
♦ Open the battery compartment 30 on the underside of the remote control 25
(see description on the rear of the remote control 25 ).
♦ Remove the old battery from the remote control 25 .
NOTE
► Please follow the disposal instructions (see section Disposing of the batteries).
♦ Insert a new CR2032 battery into the battery compartment 30 .
Ensure the +/- terminals are correctly aligned.
♦ Slide the battery compartment 30 back into the remote control 25 .
Fitting the feet
♦ Place the appliance upside down on a soft surface, e.g. a carpet.
♦ Fit the feet 6to the bottom of the appliance using 2 screws 34 on each foot.

Handling and operation
NOTE
► All functions can be used with the buttons on the device as well as with the
remote control 25 .
This section provides you with important information on handling and using the appli-
ance.
Switching the appliance on and off
The main switch 8disconnects the appliance fully from the mains power supply.
♦ Insert the power plug into a mains wall socket.
♦ Switch on the appliance using the main switch 8first; or switch off at the main
switch last if you are no longer using the appliance.
♦ When switched on, the integrated control lamp in the main switch 8lights up.
There will be a beep and the display 2lights up.
♦ Now press the on/off button 21 or 33. The appliance is now ready for use.
Selecting the temperature
NOTE
► The display 2shows the set target temperature 19 and measured actual
temperature 20 .
► The temperature measurement is made by the temperature sensor 7. It may
take some time until the whole room has reached this temperature.
♦ Press the button (°F/°C) 23 or 28 to select the unit of measure, to select
whether the temperature display uses °C or °F.
The selected unit of measurement 13 is shown on the display 2.
♦ Press the „Increase temperature“ button, 15 or 32 , to increase the target
temperature 19 up to a maximum of 37°C (99°F).
The selected target temperature 19 is shown on the display 2.
♦ Press the „Decrease temperature“ button, 16 or 29 , to decrease the target
temperature 19 down to a minimum of 5°C (41°F).
The selected target temperature 19 is shown on the display 2.
Select heat setting
The heat setting determines how quickly the appliance warms up.
The appliance has three heat settings:
■ Level 1: 1000 watts
■ Level 2: 1300 watts
■ Level 3: 2300 watts
♦ Press the button to select the heat setting 24 or 26 repeatedly until the
desired heat setting has been set.
The selected heat setting 10 is shown on the display 2.

Switching on the fan
The appliance has a fan which can be used to distribute heated air throughout the
room more quickly.
♦ Press the fan button 14 or 27 to switch the fan on or off.
If the fan is running, the „Fan“ symbol 11 appears on the display 2.
NOTE
► If the fan is switched off, the heat is concentrated more around the appliance
and is not distributed so quickly around the room.
Set heating time
The appliance has a timer that you can use to set the desired heating time between 1 to
24 hours. Once this period is over, the appliance switches off automatically.
♦ Press the timer button 17 or until the desired runtime 18 is shown on the
display 2.
♦ To switch the timer off, press the timer button 17 or repeatedly until no runt-
ime 18 appears on the display 2.
Overheating protection
The appliance is fitted with a thermostat-controlled overheating protector. If the appli-
ance becomes too hot internally, the heating element switches off automatically. As
soon as the appliance has cooled down, the heating element switches back on.
WARNING
As a general rule, there is a reason for overheating! It can mean a
risk of fire!
► Check that the appliance can sufficiently dissipate the heat generated: Is the
appliance covered or is it too close to a wall or other obstacle? Is the fan
blocked?
► Check that neither the air inlet 5nor the air outlet 3is blocked and remove
the cause.
► If possible, eliminate the problem or contact the Service Hotline (see the chap-
ter Service).
► Even if you cannot find a cause, but the overheating protection triggers a
second time, you must return the appliance to Customer Services for inspection
or repair.

Frost protection function
The appliance has a frost protection function that prevents the room temperature from
falling below the frost line.
♦ Press the button for selecting the heat setting 24 or 26 repeatedly until the
„Frost protection“ symbol 12 appears on the display 2.
NOTE
► As soon as the temperature in the immediate vicinity of the appliance
falls under 5°C (41°F) the appliance will switch on automatically.
► As soon as the temperature climbs above 9°C (48°F), the appliance switches
itself off and the room temperature will be shown on the
display 2.
♦ To switch off the frost protection function, press the button for selecting the heat set-
ting 24 or 26 repeatedly until the „Frost protection“ symbol 12 disappears
from the display 2.
Cleaning
WARNING
► Always pull out the plug before cleaning the appliance.
► Allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning to prevent any risk of burns.
► Only clean the appliance when it is switched off and cold.
CAUTION
Moisture can cause damage to the appliance.
► To avoid irreparable damage to the appliance, ensure that no moisture gets
into it during cleaning.
► Never immerse the appliance in water and protect it from splashing or sprayed
water.
■ Clean the housing only with a soft damp cloth and a mild detergent.
■ Remove dust deposits on the protective screen with a vacuum cleaner.
Transport and storage
■ Always carry the appliance using its carrying handles 9.
■ Disconnect the mains power plug if you do not intend to use the appliance for an
extended period of time.
■ Store the appliance in a dry environment.

Disposal
Disposal of the appliance
Never dispose of the appliance in normal domestic waste. This
product is subject to the provisions of the European WEEE (Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive 2012/19/EU.
Dispose of the appliance via an approved waste disposal company or your
municipal waste disposal facility. Please observe applicable regulations.
Please contact your waste disposal facility if you are in any doubt.
Your local community or municipal authorities can provide information on how to
dispose of the worn-out product.
Disposing of the batteries
Defective or dead batteries must be recycled according to Directive 2006/66/EC.
Do not dispose of the batteries in the domestic waste. Batteries can contain
poisons which are damaging to the environment. Therefore, dispose of the
batteries in accordance with applicable statutory regulations.
Consumers are legally obliged to dispose of used batteries at a collection point
in their town/district or at a retail store. This obligation is intended to ensure that
batteries are disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
Dispose of batteries only when they are fully discharged.
Disposal of packaging materials
Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly manner.
Note the labelling on the packaging and separate the packaging material
components for disposal if necessary. The packaging material is labelled with
abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings:
1–7: Plastics,
20–22: Paper and cardboard,
80–98: Composites

WARNING
Observe the following safety information to avoid hazards and property damage:
► Repairs to electrical appliances should only be carried out by specialists trained
by the manufacturer. Improper repairs can cause considerable risks to users
