Thank you for your purchase of the SircleBind CB-230 man-
ual plastic comb binding machine..
General Precautions:
1. Read the instructions carefully and thoroughly prior to
using the machine.
2. Avoid punching metal objects such as staples or paper
clips. This may jam the machine.
3. Empty the waste tray frequently for best results.

Punch:
1. Move the punch adjustment control up for documents
that are letter size or smaller. For documents that are
larger, move the punch adjustment control down. (See
Fig. 2.1)
2. Lift up the paper support tray.
3. Use the paper margin guide to properly align papers.
Tip: To ensure proper alignment, use a piece of scrap
paper to test the punch and adjust if necessary. (See Fig.
2.2)
Assembly:
1. Place unit on flat surface.
2. Remove screws from the base of the unit—one located
on the left of the unit and the other on the right. See Fig.
1.1)
3. Remove screw from the right side of the disassemble-
able handle. The handle will now be in two pieces.
4. Insert left side of handle on handle axle located on the
left side of the unit. Fasten the handle into place with
the screw. Insert right side of handle on the handle axle
located on the right side of the unit. Fasten the handle
into place with the screw. (See Fig. 1.2)

Punch (Continued):
4. Insert sheets into the appropriate punching throat.
(Max. 23 sheets of 20 lb paper) For plastic comb punch-
ing, use the back throat; for 3-hole punching, use the
front throat. (See Fig. 2.3)
5. Firmly pull down on handle and release.
6. Remove punched document.

Note: If the document is greater than letter size, the fol-
lowing additional steps will need to be taken.
1. Remove screw located on the left side of the base of the
unit. (See Fig. 2.5)
2. Remove screw on the right side of the punching handle.
(See Fig. 2.6)
3. Remove left side of the punching handle completely.
(See Fig. 2.7)
4. Refasten one screw into left side of base and the other
into the removed part of the handle. (See Fig. 2.8)

Bind:
1. Select the plastic comb most suitable for your document
size. Use the plastic comb measuring guide or the fol-
lowing table to assist you in your selection.
2. Set the punch depth control to the appropriate setting—
ie: if you are using a comb that is less than 12mm, slide
the control to the left and if you are using a comb that is
greater than 12mm, slide the control to the right. (See
Fig. 3.1)
3. Insert the plastic comb, with the open side up, behind
the metal fingers of the comb spreader. (See Fig. 3.2)

5. Follow instructions 1-6 for regular sized documents.
6. Reverse the punched sheets. (See Fig. 2.9)
7. Make sure you place one punched hole over the metal
pin. (See Fig. 2.10)
8. Push the punch button.
9. Remove punched document.

Bind (continued):
4. Pull the comb opening lever towards the back of the
machine to open the comb.
5. Thread the sheets on the plastic comb.
6. Push the comb opening handle down towards the front
to the machine to close the comb.
7. Remove the bound document.
Emptying Waste Tray:
1. Slide the waste tray out of the unit.
2. Empty the waste tray.
3. Slide the waste tray back into the machine.
