1. INTRODUCTION
The Lighting receiver Variation io is a receiver equipped with io Radio Technology. It can be used to
control all types of light via a power supply (AC/DC) with 1-10V control (halogen lights, LEDs) from a
Somfy io local control point.
The Lighting receiver Variation io lets you vary the intensity of your lighting and save a favourite light
intensity called your favourite position: this favourite position can, for example, be set to a night-light
type lighting. The factory default setting for the favourite light intensity is 50% of maximum intensity.
With IP 55 protection rating, the Lighting Receiver Variation io is suitable for external use and so
ideal for controlling terrace lighting.

The Lighting receiver Variation io uses io-homecontrol®, the new universal and secure wireless
communication protocol, shared by worldwide leaders in the world of home equipment.
io-homecontrol®allows all comfort and security equipment in the home to communicate and be
controlled from a single common control point.
The exibility and perfect compatibility of the io-homecontrol®system provides support for you as
your needs evolve. With the io-homecontrol®system, you can start by automating the roller shutters
and the front door, then equip the outside awnings, the gate and the garage door or garden lighting.
Even when tted at different times, all of this equipment remains compatible with the existing
installation thanks to the use of io-homecontrol®technology that guarantees interoperability.

2. SAFETY
2.1. Safety and liability
• This Somfy product must be installed by a professional motorisation and home automation installer for whom
this guide is intended.
• Never begin installing before checking the compatibility of this product with the associated devices
and accessories.
• This guide describes the installation and set-up of this product and how to use it.
• Moreover, the installer must comply with standards and legislation in the country in which the product is
being installed, and inform his customers of the operating and maintenance conditions for the product.
• Any use outside the sphere of application dened by Somfy is prohibited. In this event, as with all usage
not consistent with these instructions, Somfy accepts no liability and the Somfy warranty is invalidated.

4. INSTALLATION
Caution! Comply with the standards and legislation
in force at the time of installation.
The Lighting receiver Variation io must be
installed in a location sheltered from
inclement weather and rain, and out of the
reach of children.
Either use the adhesive provided by Somfy or a xing
bracket to secure the Lighting receiver Variation io
in position.
Install the “Lighting receiver Variation io” as close as
possible of the light power supply.
3. COMPATIBILITY
The Lighting receiver Variation io is only compatible with power supplies (AC/DC) with 1-10V con-
trol.
- Connect a single power supply (AC/DC) with 1-10V control for each Lighting receiver
Variation io.

5. WIRING
- Switch the power supply off.
- Connect the Lighting receiver Variation io to
the mains as per the wiring diagram:

6. SET-UP
Power must only be supplied to one receiver at a time.
Turn on the power and follow procedure "a" or "b" according
to the light's reaction:
a) The light comes on then goes out
No Somfy io control point has been programmed. Go to the
"Programming the rst Somfy io local control point" section.
b) The light does not come on
Press the Up or Down button. If the light comes on or goes
out, the Somfy io control point has been programmed.
Go to the "Use" section.
6.2. Programming the rst Somfy io local control point
This guide describes set-up using only a Situo io type Somfy io local control point. To perform set-up
using a different io control point, refer to the corresponding instructions.
1) Simultaneously press the Up and Down buttons on the
Somfy io local control point: the light comes on then goes out.
2) Briey press the PROG button on the Somfy io local
control point: the light comes on then goes out again to
indicate that the Somfy io local control point has been
programmed into the Lighting receiver Variation io.

8. ADDITIONAL SETTINGS
1) To switch on the light:
- Press the Up button.
2) To turn off the light:
- Press the Down button.
3) To immediately switch on at the pre-set «my» favourite light
intensity (default 50%):
- Press the «my» button.
4) To increase the light intensity:
- Press and hold the Up button until the desired light intensity
is reached.
5) To reduce the light intensity:
- Press and hold the Down button until the desired light inten-
sity is reached.
When you reach «night-light» level, hold down the Down
button to turn off the light.

A maximum of 9 control points can be programmed
in a Lighting receiver Varaition io.
1) Press the PROG button on the programmed control
point (a) until the light goes on then goes off: the Lighting
receiver Variation io is now in programming mode for 10
minutes.
2) Briey press the PROG button on the Somfy local io
control point (b) to be added/deleted: the light goes on then
goes off; the io control point is added or deleted.

8.4. Replacing a lost or broken Somfy io control point
Refer to the corresponding guide.
8.5. Restoring the original conguration
This reset is done with a Somfy io local control point.
This reset deletes all control points.
Only perform the double cutout on the Lighting
Receiver Variation io to be reset.
1) Cut the power supply for 2 seconds.
2) Switch the power supply back on for 5 to 15 seconds.
3) Cut the power supply for 2 seconds.
4) Switch the power supply back on: the light ashes slowly.
5) Hold down the PROG button: the light comes on then
goes off, and a few moments later the light comes on
again. The Lighting receiver Variation io is now in factory
conguration.
- Repeat the procedures in the "Set-up" section.

1) Press the «my» button to light up the bulb at the pre-set
favourite position.
2) Press and hold the Up or Down button to adjust the light
intensity to suit your needs.
3) When you have reached the desired light intensity, press
the «my» button until the bulb lights up then goes out.
► The new favourite light intensity is saved, and the bulb
lights up at this intensity.

1) Press the «my» button to light up the bulb at the pre-set
favourite position.
2) Press the «my» button until the bulb lights up then goes
out.
► The favourite light intensity is deleted.

9. TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The mains power supply is faulty. Check the power supply.
The wiring is incorrect. Check the wiring and modify as required.
The batteries in the control point are low. Replace them with batteries with identical
specications.

Follow the procedure for adding a Somfy io local
control point.
The control point used is not compatible
with the Lighting receiver Variation io. Check that the control point is an io control point.
Radio interference is impeding operation
of the Somfy io local control point and the
Lighting receiver Variation io.
Turn off any radio appliances operating nearby.
