drop product or expose to flame or heat. Keep away
from liquids and moisture.
The WireFree™ Li-ion Solar Panel provides long-life, autonomous energy for Somfy
Li-ion WireFree™ products.
Note: Do not connect panel
to more than one Li-ion Motor
or Li-ion Battery Pack.

Direct to Glass Installation
3. Clean solar panel bezel corners and window area with alcohol prep pad.
Let dry for two minutes.
4. Place Solar Panel on a flat surface with the solar panel facing up.
Apply the 2-sided adhesive to the four corners of the solar panel bezel.
5. Remove the protective film from adhesive tape.
6. Position product on glass with solar panel facing outdoors. Firmly press
entire panel, using even pressure for 10- 15 seconds. Complete bonding
will take 24 hours. Do not disturb during this period.
CAUTION
Do not touch the adhesive side of the tape with fingers
(or other contaminates) prior to adhesion.
Note: Install close to motor to the right or left.
Longer wire extensions are available if needed.
1. To mount the WireFree™ Li-ion Solar Panel,
choose position on the interior side of the glass.
2. Position the WireFree™ Li-ion Solar Panel photovoltaic
cells in direct sunlight. Ensure there are no obstructions.
Do not install on tinted or Low E glass. Any glass limiting
light to less than 65% is not recommended for
best performance.

Bracket Installation
You will need to mount solar panel with brackets if glass application is not possible, such as:
panel blocks window movement or casement, double-hung windows or when roll-up cassettes/headrails
inhibit direct-to-glass mounting area.
Window Frame Mounting
1. For inside top of window frame mounting,
position brackets and mark hole locations.
2. Attach brackets to window frame with
screws provided.
3. Snap Solar Panel into brackets.
Head Rail or Roll-Up Cassette Mounting
If this is a new installation, determine whether 2” drop or 4” drop brackets best fit the application.
Ensure that Solar Panel position has direct access to sunlight without blockage or shadows.
If this is an existing installation, remove the window coverings to best determine which brackets fit the
headrail. Ensure position provides unimpeded access to sunlight and does not restrict movement of
window covering.
Vertical or horizontal mounting depends upon window covering type. Cassettes may require vertical
installation, using upper hole locations. Venetian tilt or cord lift head rails may require horizontal installation,
using the lower screw hole.
1. Once vertical or horizontal installation is
determined, use brackets to mark screw
locations.
2. Use self-tapping screws to mount brackets into
position. Be careful not to damage window
coverings during installation.
3. Snap solar panel into proper position in
the brackets.
4. Put window covering back in place.

Connecting Solar Panel
For motors with internal batteries,
connect the WireFree™ Li-ion Solar Panel
directly to motor.
Operation
The Solar Panel trickle-charges the battery. Power is stored in the high-capacity Li-ion battery
(acting like a reservoir) providing uninterrupted service. It is normal for the battery to gain more energy
in summer months as compared to winter months. The WireFree™ Li-ion Solar Panel converts the intensity
of light to energy upon availability.
Excessive Energy Use: If the battery becomes fully depleted and can’t operate the window coverings, a
plug-in Somfy Li-ion wall charger may be necessary.
Programming
If this is a new installation with a Somfy Wirefree™ Motor,
please follow the motor installation and programming guide.
CAUTION
Be certain the motorized window coverings are fully charged (using wall charger)
prior to connecting the Solar Panel.
Note: Please visit https://store.somfysystems.com/ to purchase the wall charger or solar pack.
Note: If this installation is an upgrade to an existing Somfy WireFree™
motorized window covering, there is no need to reprogram the motor.
For motors with external batteries,
connect the WireFree™ Li-ion Solar Panel to
battery pack and then to motor.

Troubleshooting

Solution
1. Verify wires have secure connection
and that wires are not cut.
2. Verify battery has been charged to 100%.
3. See troubleshooting section in guide for
specific motor.

BATTERY RECYCLING OR DISPOSAL
