1 Introduction: Demo Mode
The High - Definit ion Digit al Video Recorder ( HD DVR) m odels DHG- HDD250 an d DHG-
HDD500 feat ur e at t ract iv e high- definit ion v ideo cont ent t h at is pr e- r ecorded an d is
available t o be played back as soon as t he HD DVR is connect ed t o a TV. You can enj oy
a shor t clip of h igh- definit ion v ideo ev en if high- definit ion cable TV or ant en na
broadcast signals are not im m ediat ely available.
The HD DVRs also have a “ Dem o Mode” feat ure that can be activated by following t he
st eps out lined in t his docum ent . Act ivat in g t he Dem o Feat ur e w ill:

Lim it t he nu m be r of w ays in w hich a progr am ca n be e asily dele t ed
This feature m ay be useful in ret ail or ot her environm ent s where there is an int erest in
cont inuously displaying a single recording.
Wit h t he “ Dem o Mode” feat ure act ivat ed, t his
m enu no longer aut om at ically appears at t he
end of a r ecorded program . However t his
m enu is st ill available by pr essing t he →
but ton on t he rem ote cont rol or front panel.
With t he “ Dem o Mode” feature act ivat ed,
t he “ Delet e” funct ion in t he above m enu
does not delet e t he program . However,
program s m ay st ill be delet ed from t he TV
Guide®/ Recordings List / Program

2 Optional First Steps
2.1 Checking the Format
When the HD DVR is first pow ered on, t he Auto Setup Welcom e screen will
autom at ically appear. I f you do not see the below Welcom e screen on your TV:
1. Check t he connect ions from the HD DVR t o t he TV
2. Check t hat t he correct Form at set ting for y our TV has
been select ed. Repeat edly press t he FORMAT but t on
on t he r em ot e con t rol or fr ont panel un t il a f orm at
set t in g t h at is com pat ible w it h you r TV is display ed on
t he front panel ( such as “ 1 0 8 0 ” , “ 7 2 0 p” , “ SD OUT” ,
et c.) and t he below im age appears.
2.2 Completing or Skipping the Auto Setup
I f t he HD DVR will be used t o receive cable or ant enna services, follow the on- screen
in st r uct ion s of t h e Au t o Set up and TV Guide®Setup.
I f t he HD DVR w ill on ly be used t o play t h e pre- r ecor ded cont ent ( su ch as in a r et ail
environm ent with no available cable or ant enna connect ion) , you m ay follow t hese
st eps to skip the Aut o Set up and TV Guide Set up.
1. While t he above screen is displayed, press the
SCREEN MOD E button on t he rem ote cont rol.
2. Ent er t he num bers “ 1” , “ 1” , “ 2” , “ 0” .

3. The Aut o Set up will be skipped and t he TV
Guide Set up will appear.
4. Press t he EX I T but t on on the rem ot e cont rol or
fr ont panel t o sk ip t he TV Gu ide Set u p.
♪N ot e :
After skipping t he Aut o Set up, no channels can be t uned. Use t he Preferences /
CH+ / - / Auto Scan m enu to add channels lat er. After skipping t he TV Guide Set up,
no program guide inform at ion will be received. Use the TV Guide Set up m enu t o
allow program guide inform at ion t o be received later.
2.3 Changing the Auto Off Setting
I f t he HD DVR will not be used t o receive cable or ant enna broadcast signals, it m ay be
useful t o disable t he Aut o Off feature. Disabling this feature will allow recorded
m aterial to play cont inuously t hroughout the day, every day, without t he HD DVR being
autom at ically placed in st andby m ode by t he Aut o Off feat ure.

4 Playing Back Recorded Content
1. Press t he REC LI ST but ton on t he rem ot e
cont rol. You m ay also press t he TV GUI DE
but ton on the front panel and then highlight
and select “Re cordings” .

2. Highlight and select the program folder, such as
“Com in g Soon t o D V D !”, t o open it .
3. When the program folder is open, highlight and
select an episode to begin playback.
4. The select ed program will begin playing and will
cont inue to play cont inuously until it is stopped.

Recor ded cont ent w ill cont inu e t o play unless play back is st opped by eit her pr essing
or select ing st op or by put t ing t h e unit in st an dby ( off ) . To r esu m e play if it has
been stopped, follow t he above st eps again.
