Printer Driver
Setup Guide
This guide describes how to set up the Printer Drivers for
Windows Vista and Windows XP.
Before using the printer driver, be sure to read the “ReadMe”
file.

Windows 2000
The screens used to describe setup in this guide assume
that the UP-TX1 series printer is connected to a
computer running Windows Vista. Configuring the Printer
Before you begin printing from applications, open the
printer settings screen and configure the settings.
You can open the printer settings screen using one of the
following methods.
• On the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel] and then
[Printer] ([Printers and Faxes] for Windows XP).
Select the printer icon for the Sony UP-TX1 series,
and then select [Select printing preferences] from the
command bar ([Printing Preferences] from the [File]
menu for Windows XP). The settings that you make
here are used as default settings when printing from
applications.
• On the [File] menu of your application, click the
command used to make printer settings. The settings
made this way only remain valid until you close the
application.
This guide describes the tabs that appear in the UP-TX1
series settings screen.
[Paper] tab
Basic print related settings.
[Graphics] tab
Used for setting color, lightness, and other image-related
settings.
[Printer] tab
Displays information related to the connected printer.
[Paper] Tab
This tab is used for making basic printing settings.

Paper Type
The relation between the type of paper that can be
inserted in the printer and the maximum print size is as
follows.
Orientation
Select [Portrait] or [Landscape].
Copies
Select the number of copies.
The setting range is 1 to 100 copies.
Scale
Lets you enlarge or reduce the image for printing. The
setting range is 10% to 400%, specified as a numeric
value.
About...
Brings up information about the printer driver version.
Restore Defaults
This returns all [Paper] tab settings to their default
condition.
[Graphics] Tab
This tab is used for making color, brightness, and other
image related settings. From the [Color Adjust] combo
box, you can select [Color Balance], or [Lightness], and
make the respective settings.
Color Balance
Select [Color Balance] from the [Color Adjust] combo
box.
Adjust the items by moving the respective sliders left or
right. You can also directly enter values in the input
fields.
Lightness
Select [Lightness] from the [Color Adjust] combo box.
Adjust the items by moving the respective sliders left or
right. You can also directly enter values in the input
fields.

Restore Defaults
This returns all [Graphics] tab settings to their default
condition.
[Printer] Tab
This tab displays information related to the printer
currently connected.
Paper type
Displays the type of paper currently loaded in the
printer.
Remaining prints
Displays the remaining ink in the ribbon cartridge
currently loaded in the printer.
Total prints
Displays the total number of pages that have been
printed since you began using the printer.
Total prints (Thermal head)
Displays the total number of pages that have been
printed since you began using the current thermal head.
Use this to determine when to replace a thermal head.
Printer Status
Displays the status of the printer. When normal printing
is possible, [The printer is available.] appears. If an error
occurs, an error message appears.
Firmware version
Displays the version of the printer’s firmware.
Update
Updates the information displayed to the most recent
information.
Note
Some information may not update itself while printing is
in progress. You can display the most recent information
by updating the information after printing completes.
