Heat
The apparatus should be located away from heat sources such as radiators, stoves or
other appliances that produce heat. Don not use it when maximum ambient tempera-

ture is higher than 40°C This equipment shell temperature around 40°C (104°F) to 50 °C
(122°F) while work, do not touch the shell.
Power Cord and Plug
Protect power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus. Do not defeat the safety
purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two poles; a
grounding-type plug has two poles and a third grounding terminal. The third prong is
provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not t into your outlet, refer to an
electrician for replacement..
Power Supply
The apparatus should be connected to the power supply only of the type as marked on
the apparatus or described in the manual. Failure to do could result in damage to the
product and possibly the user. Check whether the power supply and voltage are normal
before use. If the voltage uctuates greatly, it is recommended to use voltage stabilizer
or voltage regulator. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for
long periods of time.
Electrical Connection
Always disconnect from the power source before servicing. Cut o power before
moving, repairing and cleaning the unit. Improper electrical wiring may invalidate the
product warranty. To avoid electric shock, all xtures must be connected to circuits with
a suitable ground.
DMX connection
When use DMX controller, please make sure that there is no interference sources (e.g.
intercom, high frequency radio waves and radiation source).
Cleaning
Clean only with a dry cloth. Do not use any solvents such as benzene or alcohol.
Servicing
Do not implement any servicing other than those means described in the manual. Refer
all servicing to qualied service personnel only. The internal components of the equip-
ment must be purchased from the manufacturer Only use accessories/attachments or
parts recommended by the manufacturer.

This user manual is made to provide both an overview of controls, as well as informa-

tion on how to use them. In order to help you to understand the connections between
the various controls, we have gathered in groups according to their functions.
1.1. UNPACKING
Your PAR-5-18W-IP65 was carefully packed to ensure safe transport. Despite this, we
recommend you to carefully examine the package and its contents for any signs of
physical damage, which can occur during transport. Each unit has the following parts:

ATTENTION: Packaging bag is not a toy! Keep out of reach of children!!! Keep
in a safe place the original packaging material for future use.
If anything damaged during transport, notify the shipper immediately and keep the
packing material for inspection. Again, please save the carton and all packing materi-
als. If the xture must be returned to manufacturer, it is important that the xture be
returned in the original manufacturer box and packing. Please do not take any action
without rst contacting us.

3. MAINS CONNECTIONS
PAR-5-18W-IP65 is equipped with waterproof AC input and output connections. There-
fore, they allow the xture to be connected to power in compliance with IP65 protec-
tion standards.
Looking at the rear panel of the xture (read “6. CONTROL PANEL & CONNECTIONS”
on page 11 for further details), you will notice that there are two power cables with
respectively a male and a female connector.

Each connector has 3 numbered pins. Read the table below to identify the correspon-
dence between numbers, wire colors, Pins, and International Standard.

In the packaging there is also a 1m adapter cable with EU Schuko plug and 21mm IP65
AC socket. This cable is basically used to test and congure the PAR before the instal-
lation. It is also possible that you need extension cables to connect this PAR to power.
Extensions of 3m each are available on www.soundsationmusic.com.

4. DMX CONNECTION
DMX xtures are designed to receive data through a serial Daisy Chain. A Daisy Chain
connection is where the DATA OUT of one xture connects to the DATA IN of the next
xture. The order in which the xtures are connected is not important and has no eect
on how a controller communicates to each xture. Use an order that provides for the
easiest and most direct cabling.

The picture below shows normal DMX wiring. It uses shielded 2-conductor twisted pair
cable with 3-Pin XLR plugs and sockets. PAR-5-18W-IP65 uses 3-Pin waterproof DMX
In/Out plug and socket for daisy chain connection to a controller and to other xtures.

The shield connection is pin 1, while pin 2 is Data Negative (S-), and pin 3 is Data posi-
tive (S+).
CAUTION: Wires must not come into contact with each other; otherwise the
xtures will not work at all, or will not work properly.

4.1. DMX Terminator
DMX is a resilient communication protocol, however errors still occasionally occur.
In order to prevent electrical noise from disturbing and corrupting the DMX control
signals, a good habit is to connect DMX output of last xture in the chain to a DMX
terminator, especially over long signal cable runs.

The DMX terminator is simply an XLR connector with a
120Ω (ohm), 1/4 Watt resistor connected across Signal
(-) and Signal (+), respectively, pins 2 and 3, which is
then plugged into the output socket on last projector
in the chain. The connections are illustrated below.
Complimentary signal cable can transmits signals to 20 unit xtures at most.
Signal amplier is a must to connect more xtures.
4.2.3-Pin vs 5-Pin DMX cables
DMX connection protocols used by controllers and xtures manufacturers are not stan-
dardized around the world. However, two are the most common standards: 5-Pin XLR
and 3-Pin XLR system. If you wish to connect your xture to a 5-Pin XLR input xture,
you need to use an adapter-cable or make it by yourself.

5. INSTALLATION
Pay attention to safety! Please respectively consider the EN 60598-2-17 and

the national standard during the installation. The authorized dealer must
only carry out the installation.
The installation of the xture has to be built and constructed in a way that it can hold
10 times the weight for 1 hour without any harming demolition. The installation must
always be secured with a secondary safety attachment, e.g. an appropriate catch net.
This secondary safety attachment must be constructed in a way that no part of the
installation can fall down if the main attachment fails.
When rigging, de-rigging or servicing the xture staying in the area below the instal-
lation place, on bridges, under high working places and other endangered areas is
forbidden. The operator has to make sure that the safety measure and the machine’s
technical installation is approved by an expert before taking into operation for the rst
time and after changes before taking into operation anther time. He has also to make
sure that an expert approves safety measure and the machine’s technical installation
once a years.
WARNING: The xture should be installed outside areas where persons may
walk by or be seated.
IMPORTANT: Overhead rigging requires extensive experience, including (but
not limited to) calculating working load limits, installation material being
used, and periodic safety inspection of all installation material and the pro-
jector. If you lack these qualications, do not attempt the installation your-
self, but instead use a professional structural rigger. Improper installation can
result in bodily injury or property loss.
If the xture shall be lowered from the ceiling or high joists, professional trussing
systems have to be used. The xture must never be xed swinging freely in the room.
Before rigging make sure that the installation area can hold a minimum point load of
10 times the projector’s weight.
CAUTION: Fixture may cause severe injuries when crashing down. If you have
doubts concerning the safety of a possible installation, do not install the
xture!
CAUTION: Use two appropriate clamps to rig the xture on the truss. Follow
the instructions mentioned at the bottom of the base. Make sure that the
device is xed properly! Ensure that the structure (truss) to which you are
attaching the xtures is secure.
DANGER OF FIRE! When installing the device, make sure there is no highly
inammable material (decoration articles, etc.) within a distance of minimum
0.5 meter.
The xture can be rigged in any orientation on a truss, without altering its operation
characteristics.

fUse clamps suitable for the section of the truss on which you want to x the xture.
fFor overhead use, always install a safety rope that can hold at least 10 times the
weight of the xture.
6. CONTROL PANEL & CONNECTIONS

1. DMX IN - 3-pin IP-65 cord for connection to a DMX control device. You can use
the IP65-to-XLR adapter cable to test the unit. Also check the section “4. DMX
CONNECTION” on page 8 for details on internal wiring.
2. POWER IN - Plug this IP-65 power cord to mains. You can use the IP65-to-EU plug
adapter cable to test the unit. Also check the section “3. MAINS CONNECTIONS”
on page 7 for details about internal wiring.
3. DMX OUT - IP-65 17mm DMX socket for sending the DMX control signal to an-
other unit.
4. POWER OUT - IP-65 power output cord to power an additional xture. Ensure
that the total current consumption of all connected devices does not exceed the
maximum load specied in amperes (A) related to wire section of the rst unit
in the chain. Always keep in mind that each PAR-5-18W-IP65 has 100W power con-
sumption.

6.1. Fixture Setup
DMX Address
Press MENU button to reach Addr page. Then press ENTER to adjust from 1 to 255.
Then press ENTER again to conrm.
NOTE: During setup process, if you don’t press any buttons for about 5-6 sec-
onds, the display will automatically go back to home page; all changes won’t
be conrmed, and the display will show last active mode (DMX, or Auto, or
Sound, etc.).
Channel Mode
Press MENU button repeatedly to reach ChNd page. You can then choose among seven
dierent modes with dierent number of DMX channels from 2 to 9. Please read the
section “7. DMX MODE CHARTS” on page 15 for further details.
Press ENTER and then UP or DOWN to browse among 2Ch, 3Ch1, 3Ch2, 4Ch, 5Ch, 6Ch, and
9Ch. Then press ENTER again to conrm.
Master/Slave Mode
Press MENU button repeatedly to reach SlNd page. This function allows you to set the
unit as master or slave. It is used in case you want to control several PARs without a
DMX controller. The rst xture in the chain will be set as master; the rest as slaves.
Press ENTER and then UP or DOWN to choose between Nast or SlaU. The press ENTER
again to conrm.
SHOW Mode
Press MENU button repeatedly to reach ShNd page. This function allows you to choose
among four show types:
Auto Run (ShoU) - The xtures randomly run color/jump/fade/ programs. To activate
run mode, when you are in ShNd page, press ENTER and then UP or DOWN to reach

ShoU function. Then press ENTER again to conrm.
Color Mode (Colo) - The xtures shows one among 63 preset colors. You can choose
the color, and adjust dimmer amount from 0 to 255. To activate color mode, when you
are in ShNd page, press ENTER and then UP or DOWN to reach Colo function.
Press ENTER again and the display will show the color number currently selected (from
Col1 to Co63). Press ENTER again; the display will ash. Now, by pressing UP or DOWN
buttons, you can change the color. Once done, press ENTER again to conrm; the dis-
play will stop ashing.
To adjust dimmer value, when you are in Colo page and you see the number of selected
color, press UP or DOWN to adjust dimmer value. The display will show dXXX - where
XXX means a number between 0 and 255 (e.g. d255). To adjust it, press ENTER - the
display will ash - and then UP or DOWN. Once nished, press ENTER again to conrm.
Jump Mode (JuNp) - The xtures shows color jump mode. You can choose between 0
to 99 speed level, and adjust dimmer amount from 0 to 255. To activate jump mode,
when you are in ShNd page, press ENTER and then UP or DOWN to reach JuNp function.
Press ENTER again and the display will show the jump speed currently selected (from
Sp00 to Sp99). Press ENTER again; the display will ash. Now, by pressings UP or DOWN
buttons, you can change jump speed. Once done, press ENTER again to conrm; the
display will stop ashing.
To adjust dimmer value, when you are in JuNp page and you see the selected speed,
press UP or DOWN to adjust dimmer value. The display will show dXXX - where XXX
means a number between 0 and 255 (e.g. d255). To adjust it, press ENTER - the display
will ash - and then UP or DOWN. Once nished, press ENTER again to conrm.
Fade Mode (Fade) - The xtures shows color fade mode. You can choose between 0 to
99 speed level, and adjust dimmer amount from 0 to 255. To activate fade mode, when
you are in ShNd page, press ENTER and then UP or DOWN to reach Fade function.
Press ENTER again and the display will show the fade speed currently selected (from
Sp00 to Sp99). Press ENTER again; the display will ash. Now by pressing UP or DOWN
buttons, you can change fade speed. Once done, press ENTER again to conrm; the
display will stop ashing.
To adjust dimmer value, when you are in Fade page and you see the selected speed,
press UP or DOWN to adjust dimmer value. The display will show dXXX - where XXX
means a number between 0 and 255 (e.g. d255). To adjust it, press ENTER - the display
will ash - and then UP or DOWN. Once nished, press ENTER again to conrm.

SOUND Mode
This function allows sounds in the environment to control the PAR. It will then run color
change presets according to sound level. To activate this function, press MENU button
repeatedly to reach SoUn page. Press ENTER to adjust. The display will show current
state and ash. You can then press UP or DOWN to change between ON or OFF. Press
ENTER to conrm.
Sound Sensibility
When use Sound Mode, you can also adjust sound sensibility according to the environ-
ment sound level. Press MENU button repeatedly to reach Sens page. Press ENTER to
adjust. The display will show current value and ash. You can then press UP or DOWN
to change from 0 to 100. Press ENTER to conrm.
Balance
This function is useful when you need to set a xed color basing on RGB components
only. Press MENU button repeatedly to reach bala page. Press ENTER. The display will
show red and ash. You can then press UP or DOWN to choose among red, Gree, and
blue. Press ENTER to adjust their value. You can choose from 50 to 255. Press ENTER to
conrm; you will then come back to RED/GREEN/BLUE selection.
Repeat same step as above to adjust all three basic color values, then press MENU to
go to menu selection page.
Led Display
This function allows you to disable the LED display when inactive for more than 1
minute. Press MENU button repeatedly to reach Led page. Press ENTER. The display will
show current value and will ash. You can then press UP or DOWN to choose between
on or off. Press ENTER to conrm.
Display Orientation
This function allows you to invert LED display orientation. It is useful in case the in-
stallation requires you to mount the xture upside down. To change this parameter,
press MENU button repeatedly to reach disp page. Press ENTER; the display will show
disp (display positive) or dsip (display inverted), and will ash. You can then press UP or
DOWN to change current value.
NOTE: Please note that once pressed UP or DOWN, you will automatically go
back to main menu; and if you want to undo the display inversion, you need
to repeat the procedure described in this paragraph from the beginning.

Test
This function automatically runs basic colors (Red, Green, Blue, White, Amber, Purple),
and it is used to test LEDs, especially for service purposes. To enter this page, press
MENU button repeatedly to reach test page. Press ENTER; the display will ash. The
unit will show all colors in cycle. Press MENU to exit this function.
Hour
This function shows total work hours. To enter this page, press MENU button repeated-
ly to reach hour page. Press ENTER see current number of hours. The unit will automati-
cally come back to main page after about 6 seconds.

9. WARRANTY AND SERVICE
All SOUNDSATION products feature a limited two-year warranty. This two-year warran-
ty is specic to the date of purchase as shown on your purchase receipt.
The following cases/components are not covered from the above warranty:
• Any accessories supplied with the product
• Improper use
• Fault due to wear and tear
• Any modication of the product eected by the user or a third party
SOUNDSATION shall satisfy the warranty obligations by remedying any material or
manufacturing faults free of charge at SOUNDSATION’s discretion either by repair or by
exchanging individual parts or the entire appliance. Any defective parts removed from
a product during the course of a warranty claim shall become the property of SOUND-
SATION.
While under warranty period, defective products may be returned to your local
SOUNDSATION dealer together with original proof of purchase. To avoid any damag-
es in transit, please use the original packaging if available. Alternatively you can send
the product to SOUNDSATION SERVICE CENTER – Via Enzo Ferrari , 10 – 62017 Porto
Recanati - Italy . In order to send a product to service center you need an RMA number.
Shipping charges have to be covered by the owner of the product.
