BriefIntroduction
POS88 printer isanewtypelinethermalprinter,whichfeaturesinfastspeed
print,lowprintnoise,highreliability,perfectprintqualityandribbon
needless,avoidingthevexationofregular maintenance.
POS88 printer:smallinoutline dimension,simpleoperation,and
extensive application,especially suitableforcommercialcashregister,PC-POS,
bank POSand allkindsofreceiptsprint.

2.2 PaperInstallation
2.2.1 PaperLoading
POS88adopts79.5mmwidththermalpaperroll.
StepsofLoading ThermalPaperAreas below:
Holddowntheuppercoverbutton ontheleftside,openthemovable
uppercover,drawacertainlengthofthepaperroll,putthepaperend on
theprinthead,close theupper coverandpress it downwardslightly.
1.Payattentiontothedirection ofloadingpaper,maketheprinting
surface facetotheprinthead.
2.Pleasedon’tfeedordrawthepaperforwardsorbackwardswith
hands.

3.Keepcleanoftheprinthead,avoidtoinfluencethe printingquality.
2.2.2 SolutiontoPaperJam
Ifcutter jam,turnoff thepower,andturnonagain,thecutterwill be
backtooriginalposition.Ifpaperjam,openthepaperstorage cover,and
takeoutthepaper.If thecutter cannotbe backtotheoriginalposition,
openthecover ofit,andturnthewhiteplastic gearbythedirection
suggestiveonthecutterbyhandtomakethecutterbebacktotheoriginal
position.

2.3.1SerialInterface
TheserialinterfaceofSP-POS88VIprinteriscompatiblewithRS-232C,
supportsDTR/DSRand XON/XOFFhandshakingprotocols, usesDB25 socket
(female).The pinorderofthe serialportisasFig.2-2 shows:

【FEED】ispaperfeedbutton.The functionofthisbuttonison/off canbe set
byprintcommand.Whenthefunctionofthisbutton ison,press【FEED】
buttonto feedpaper;release【FEED】buttontostopfeedingbutton.
Thebuzzercanindicatetheerrorand cutterstatus.Throughparameters
setting,thebuzzer canbesetintoerroralarm,paper-cutindicatingorboth
above.Thetypesoferrorstatusare sameasERRORindicator.
ThegreenPOWERlightisthepowerindicator.POWERindicatorlighting
meansthe printerispoweron.

The redERRORlightiserrorstatusindicator.Itisoff whentheprinterworks
normally;whileitflashesorpersismentlylightswhentheprinterhas
abnormalalarm.
If ERRORindicatorflashesorpersismentlylightsandthe buzzer sounds,it
meansthe printerhas error.
Accordingto differentflashingtypes,thedifferenterrorsofprinterare
indicated:
1. Un-recoverableerror:thetimesofindicatorflashingandbuzzersound
indicate the error type,thenindicator persismentlylight.
2. Recoverableerror:thetimesofindicatorflashingand buzzersound
indicate the error type,thenindicator ispersismentlyoff.
3. Automaticlyrecoverableerror:theindicatorflashesandthebuzzersounds
continuously.
4. Paperout:the indicatorlightsandthebuzzersoundspersismently.
The detailsareas below,
a. Un-recoverableerror,theindicatorflashesseveraltimes,thenpersismently
lights.Then cycle. Thetimesofflashingmeanstheerrortype.

Whentheprinteris offandpapercase coverisclosed, pressthe POWER
buttontoturn onthe printer.Thestatusindicatorand PaperOutindicator
flashestwice alternatively,thenindicatoroff.Theprinterenters intothe
normal workingmode.

2.6Self-test
Theself-testwillcheckthecondition ofprinter,iftheprinterprintsoutthe
self-testreceiptcorrectly,itmeanstheprinterworks normallyexceptinterface
withhost.Otherwiseitneeds torepair.
Theself-testwillprintout:Manufacturername,printermodel,software
version, interfacetype,default value ofprinterparameters,96ANK characters
inASCIIcode,contentofdefaultcodepage(iflanguageissetEnglish)or
nameofChinesecharacterlibrary (ifthe languageisset Chinese),barcode
type.
Wayofself-test:holddown【FEED】button andturn on theprinter,Atthistime,
printerwillprintoutself-testreceipt.Thecontentis asbelowpicture2-9:
2.7HexadecimalPrinting
Turn on theprinteraccordingtothestepsbelow,itwill enterthemodeof
HexadecimalPrinting
1.Openthe cover；
2.Holddown【FEED】button，and connect withpower；
3.Close thecover,the printerwillprintout3 linesasbelow:

To terminatehexadecimal dump,
Press FEEDbuttonthree times.
Thismeanstheprinter has enteredhexadecimalprintingmode,and
underthismode,allofthe inputwillbeprinted outas hexadecimalnumber,
feedone line withsingle-clickof “FEED”button,after3 times,it willprintout
“***Completed***”,and exithexadecimalprintingmode.
2.8PrinterparameterSettings
Thisfunction isforthesetupofparameters.
Stepsforsetting parameters:Whenprinterpowerisoff,openpapercase
coverfirstly,thenpressthe 【FEED】buttonandturnon theprinter.After
statusindicatorandpaperoutindicatorflashtwicealternatively,press
【FEED】buttontwice,thenclosepapecasecover.Printerentersinto
parametersetting modeand printoutthefirstsetparameterand itsdefault
value.Thedetailsmethodofsetting parametercanrefertoAppendixA.
Stepsforexitingofparametersetup:openpapercasecoverand pressthe
【FEED】button;thenclosepapercasecoverandreleasethe 【FEED】
button.Theprinterwillsavethesetup ofparameters, exit setting modeand
enterthenormal workingmode.
The datawill notbesavedifturn offthe printerdirectly.
2.9Entertheprogram upgrade mode
Whenprinterpowerisoff，openpapercasecover,holddownthe【FEED】
button,thenturnontheprinter.Afterthestatusindicatorandpaperout
indicatorflashalternatively,release【FEED】button.Thenpress 【FEED】
buttonfivetimesandprinterentersintotheprogramupgradingmode.Atthis
time, theindicatorflashes once eachsecond.
Quickmethodofentering thismode:whenprinterpowerisoff,openpaper
case cover,holddownthe【FEED】button,thenturnonthe printerandrelease
the【FEED】button.Printerentersintotheprogramupgradingmode. Atthis
time, theindicatorflashes once eachsecond.
Notice: AfterprinterentersintoProgramUpgradingMode, ifpaperout
indicatorlights,it meansthisinterface can tsupportprogramupgrading.Only
serial interface orUSBinterface cansupportprogramupgradingonline.

Thisappendixisthe methodtoset defaultparametersofprinterbybuttons.
Setup instruction:usethebutton of【papercasecover】tochoosethesetting
items,changetheitembypressthebutton【papercasecover】,and printout
