1 Safety
1.1 About this user manual
Before using the minicentrifuge for the rst time, please read this user manual.
This user manual is part of the minicentrifuge and it should be easily accessible at all times.
If the minicentrifuge is transferred to a third party, this user manual must be included.
1.2 
The minicentrifuge is intended for indoor laboratory use and similar applications requiring
relatively low centrifugal forces, such as microltration, cell separation and quick spin downs
from microcentrifuge tube walls and caps. Any other use is considered as improper.
1.3 Electric current
Do not use the minicentrifuge if it is damaged in any way. If the minicentrifuge, the power
adapter or the power cable is damaged, there is a risk of fatal electric shock. Do not use the
minicentrifuge in this case.
In an emergency, immediately switch off the minicentrifuge or disconnect the power cable at
the back of the minicentrifuge.
Disconnect the minicentrifuge from the power supply to clean it, or if it remains unused for a long
time. Do not immerse the minicentrifuge in water or other liquids or let the power cable come
into contact with water or other liquids.
1.4 Clearance envelope
The clearance envelope is the area around the minicentrifuge (30 cm). Do not stay within the
clearance envelope longer than necessary for operating the minicentrifuge. Do not use or
deposit any potentially hazardous materials near the minicentrifuge.
1.5 Moving rotor
Do not touch the rotor while it is still spinning. Wait until the rotor has completely stopped before
fully opening the lid and removing the tubes.
1.6 Microcentrifuge tubes
Only use plastic microcentrifuge tubes that are designed to withstand centrifugal forces of at
least 2,500 x g. Do not use damaged or deformed tubes. The weight of individual tubes may
not exceed 3.0g.
1.7 
Load the rotor symmetrically to ensure proper balance. Never run the minicentrifuge with only
one tube or one PCR strip in place. Load the rotor only with an even number of tubes or PCR
strips.
Fill the tubes and seal all tube lids carefully before inserting the tubes in the rotor.
Do not centrifuge flammable, explosive or corrosive materials.

1.8 Manipulation
Do not open the housing or manipulate the minicentrifuge or accessories in any way.
Only use the rotors and accessories supplied with the minicentrifuge.
1.9 
In the following cases the protection provided in the minicentrifuge may be impaired.
The liability for the function of the minicentrifuge passes to the operator if:
› The minicentrifuge is not used in accordance with this user manual.
› The minicentrifuge is used outside the range of application described herein.
› The minicentrifuge is used with accessories or consumables (e.g., tubes) which are not
recommended by the manufacturer.
› The minicentrifuge is maintained or repaired by persons not authorized by the manufacturer.
› Unauthorized modifications have been made to the minicentrifuge.

The minicentrifuge is supplied with two rotors, one for microcentrifuge tubes and one for PCR
tubes.
The tube rotor is designed to centrifuge up to eight individual 1.5/2.0ml microcentrifuge tubes.
It will also accept 0.5ml and 0.2ml tubes with the adapters supplied with the minicentrifuge.
The PCR strip rotor is designed to centrifuge up to four 0.2 ml 8-strip PCR tubes. It will also
accept up to 32 individual 0.2ml tubes.

3.1 Positioning the minicentrifuge
Choose a place with a flat surface, where the minicentrifuge can remain during centrifugation.
Do not operate the minicentrifuge at altitudes above 2,000m or in the open air.
Avoid long-term exposure to high UV radiation levels as discoloration of the plastic material
might occur.

› Select the appropriate plug for your country and connect it to the power adapter.
› Make sure that the power switch is in the off position. Then connect the power cable to the
input connection of the minicentrifuge.
› Connect the power adapter to the wall socket.

4 Operation
4.1 Switching on the minicentrifuge
Switch on the power switch at the back of the minicentrifuge.
The lid will open automatically.
4.2 
To mount one of the two rotors, push it onto the drive shaft until there is an audible click.
Make sure that the rotor is properly attached to the drive shaft before inserting the tubes.
To remove a rotor, take off the rotor by pulling it up vertically.

To enable safe operation of the minicentrifuge, the rotor must be loaded symmetrically with
identical tubes. Always use the same type of tubes per run.
Each tube should be counterbalanced by another tube. Otherwise the minicentrifuge can be
damaged.
For example, if there is a tube in position 4, a corresponding tube has to be inserted in position 8.

4.4 Starting the minicentrifuge
Once the minicentrifuge has started, it must not be moved. Do not knock against the minicentri-
fuge while it is in operation.
› To start the centrifugation of the samples, simply close the lid. The rotor will start spinning.
If the rotor can not spin properly (for example, if a tube is open and hits against the lid), then the
lid will open after a few seconds and the rotor will stop spinning.
If the power is turned off during operation, the lid will open automatically so you can still access
your samples.
4.5 Stopping the minicentrifuge
› To stop centrifugation, touch the STOP button. The lid will open automatically. Do not touch
the rotor or use other items to stop it.
› Wait until the rotor has completely stopped before fully opening the lid and removing the
tubes.

5 Maintenance
Before using any cleaning or decontamination methods except those recommended, contact the
manufacturer to make sure that the proposed method will not damage the equipment.
For further information and detailed instructions for cleaning and disinfection, contact your local
distributor.
5.1 Cleaning
Regularly check and clean the housing of the minicentrifuge as well as the lid, the rotors and
rotor accessories.
WARNING
Electric shock as a result of penetration of liquid.
› Switch off the minicentrifuge and disconnect it from the power supply before starting to
clean.
› Do not allow any liquids to enter the inside of the housing.
› Do not use spray disinfection.
› Only reconnect the minicentrifuge to the power supply once it is completely dry.
NOTICE
Aggressive chemicals can damage the minicentrifuge and its accessories.
› Do not use any aggressive chemicals on the minicentrifuge and its accessories such as
strong or weak bases, strong acids, acetone, acetonitrile, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate,
halogenated hydrocarbons, phenol, toluene, DMSO 50% and methanol.
› If the minicentrifuge or the accessories becomes contaminated with aggressive chemicals,
clean immediately with a neutral cleaning agent.
› Do not use corrosive cleaning agents, aggressive solvents or abrasive polishes.

› Lint-free cloth.
› Mild, soap-based cleaning solution.
› Distilled water.
Cleaning the minicentrifuge
› Switch off the minicentrifuge and disconnect it from the power supply.
› Clean all surfaces of the minicentrifuge and its accessories with a mild, soap-based
cleaning solution, using a lint-free cloth.
› Wipe off the soap solution with distilled water.
› Dry all cleaned parts.

disinfect.
› Do not allow any liquids to enter the inside of the housing.

Auxiliary equipment
› Lint-free cloth.
› Disinfectant.

› Switch off the minicentrifuge and disconnect it from the power supply.
› Disinfect the minicentrifuge.
› Select a disinfection method which complies with the legal requirements and regulations
applicable to your range of application.
› Wipe the surfaces with the lint-free cloth and disinfectant.
5.3 
If you are shipping the minicentrifuge to the authorised Technical Service for repairs or to your
local distributor for disposal, please note the following:
WARNING
Risk to health from contaminated minicentrifuge.
› Follow the instructions for the decontamination supplied by your local distributor.
› Decontaminate all the parts you want to dispatch.
› Enclose the fully-completed decontamination certificate for returned goods (incl. the serial
number of the minicentrifuge) with the dispatch.

In the event of disposing of the product, please observe the applicable legal regulations. Infor-

tions based on EU Directive 2012/19/EU pertaining to waste electrical and electronic equipment
(WEEE).
In accordance with this, any devices delivered after 13/08/2005 on a business-to-business
basis, which includes this product, may no longer be disposed of in household waste.

7 Troubleshooting
If the proposed measures to remedy the fault repeatedly do not deliver the desired result,
contact your local distributor.

1 Sicherheit
1.1 
Vor dem ersten Gebrauch der Minizentrifuge diese Bedienungsanleitung lesen.
Diese Bedienungsanleitung ist Bestandteil der Minizentrifuge und sollte gut erreichbar aufbe-
wahrt werden.
Wenn die Minizentrifuge an Dritte weitergegeben wird, muss diese Bedienungsanleitung mit
weitergegeben werden.
1.2 
Die Minizentrifuge ist für den Innengebrauch in Laboren und ähnliche Anwendungen vorgesehen,
bei denen relativ geringe Zentrifugalkräfte erforderlich sind, wie z.B. Mikroltration, Zelltren-
nung und schnelles Abzentrifugieren von Röhrchenwänden und -deckeln. Jeglicher andere
Gebrauch gilt als nicht bestimmungsgemäß.
1.3 
Die Minizentrifuge nicht benutzen, wenn diese beschädigt ist. Wenn die Minizentrifuge, der Netz-
adapter oder das Netzkabel beschädigt ist, besteht die Gefahr eines tödlichen Stromschlags. Die
Minizentrifuge in diesem Fall nicht benutzen.
Im Notfall die Minizentrifuge sofort ausschalten oder das Netzkabel an der Rückseite der Miniz-
entrifuge ziehen.
Zum Reinigen der Minizentrifuge oder wenn die Minizentrifuge über einen längeren Zeitraum
nicht benutzt wird, die Minizentrifuge von der Stromversorgung trennen. Die Minizentrifuge nicht
in Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten tauchen und das Netzkabel nicht mit Wasser oder anderen
Flüssigkeiten in Kontakt kommen lassen.
1.4 
Der Sicherheitsabstand ist der Bereich im die Minizentrifuge herum (30cm). Nicht länger als für
den Betrieb der Minizentrifuge nötig innerhalb des Sicherheitsabstands aufhalten. Keine poten-
ziell gefährlichen Materialien in der Nähe der Minizentrifuge verwenden oder lagern.

Den sich drehenden Rotor nicht berühren. Den Deckel erst dann vollständig öffnen und die
Gefäße entnehmen, wenn der Rotor komplett stillsteht.
1.6 
Nur solche Mikrozentrifugenröhrchen aus Kunststoff verwenden, die für Zentrifugalkräfte von
mindestens 2.500×g ausgelegt sind. Keine beschädigten oder verformten Gefäße verwenden.
Das Gewicht der einzelnen Gefäße darf 3,0g nicht überschreiten.

Das Gehäuse nicht öffnen und keine Veränderungen an der Minizentrifuge oder am Zubehör
vornehmen.
Nur die mit der Minizentrifuge mitgelieferten Rotoren und das mitgelieferte Zubehör verwenden.

In folgenden Fällen können die Sicherheitsvorkehrungen der Minizentrifuge beeinträchtigt
werden. Die Haftung für die Funktion der Minizentrifuge geht auf den Nutzer über, wenn:
› die Minizentrifuge nicht gemäß dieser Bedienungsanleitung verwendet wird.
› die Minizentrifuge außerhalb des hier beschriebenen Anwendungsbereichs verwendet wird.
› die Minizentrifuge mit Zubehör oder Verbrauchsartikeln (z.B. Gefäßen) betrieben wird, die
nicht vom Hersteller empfohlen werden.
› die Minizentrifuge von nicht durch den Hersteller autorisierten Personen gewartet oder
repariert wird.
› an der Minizentrifuge nicht autorisierte Änderungen vorgenommen wurden.
