5. GENERAL INFORMATION ON Li-ION BATTERY
The Li.-ION BATTERY PACK consists of a group of elementary battery cells based on the Li-ION technology (Lithium
-ION) opportunely connected encased into a suitable shell, equipped with a specific plug for the connection to the
battery charger and one cable, ended by a red connector, designed to connect the battery pack to the motor
propulsive to the SUEX DPV.
To exploit the Li-ION technology provides the SUEX battery packs the utmost performance, the compactness,
reliability and user -friendly characteristics that makes them, at the present state of the art, the most advanced energy
source to feed the SUEX devices.
It is anyway important to know that the correct and safe interaction with the battery packs of the Li-ION kind –in
particular to prolongate their high efficiency along the time –is related to the understanding of some characteristics
that are intrinsic for the Li-ION technology and to the respect of basic good practice from the users.
Therefore the user must be aware of the following.
The Li-ION cells, diversely for other kinds of batteries, does not show any significant “memory effect”, then IT IS NOT
NEEDED AND IT IS IN FACT ARMFUL TO DISCHARGE COMPLETELY before recharging.
Their DISCHARGE BELOW CERTAIN LEVELS determines the RAPID DETERIORATION OF THE BATTERY and
even ITS EARLY AND IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE: it is therefore OPPORTUNITY AND RECOMMENDED to always
keep them at a high level of charge.
The correct recharging conditions (current and voltage) cells are of the utmost importance to ensure the best and
most prolonged battery efficiency: it is for this reason that RECHARGING MUST BE EXCLUSIVELY WITH THE
CHARGER SPECIFICALLY INDICATED.
The safe use of lithium-ion cells is made possible thanks to advanced internal electronic systems integrated on board
the battery packs (called BMS: Battery Management System) which have the function of preventing, controlling and
solving combinations of electrical and mechanical factors and environmental that - if they were not properly managed
- could cause the cells to overheat and fire. THE FUNCTIONING OF THESE ELECTRONIC SAFETY SYSTEMS
necessarily presents a (very low but never zero) ENERGY CONSUMPTION WHICH DRAWS FROM THE STORED
CHARGE in the battery: IF THE BATTERY PACK IS LEFT INACTIVE FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME - months,
years - CONSUMPTION OF THE INTERNET CONSUMPTION (for the mechanism described in the previous point)
TO THE IRREVERSIBLE LOCK of a battery that is initially lightly charged.
For intrinsic reasons related to the chemistry they use, all batteries are subject to a natural progressive and slow
aging which determines - in the very long period - a reduction in the amount of charge to be stored at full charge.
Therefore batteries have a LONG BUT NOT INFINITE OPERATING LIFE. They last several years in efficiency if
they are used and recharged properly.
Finally, the user should be aware of the fact that THE TRANSPORT OF LI-ION TYPE BATTERY PACKS IS
SUBJECT TO STRICT RESTRICTIONS - IN PARTICULAR TO AIR TRANSPORT - AND TO SEVERE CONTROLS
ACCORDING TO THE INTERNATIONAL REGULATIONS in place and historically in rapid evolution . Therefore
special packaging practices and transport documentation are necessary for the handling of these items.
Therefore, the BATTERY is an element with a very high technological content thus it requires a conscious use by
those who use it: the few and simple precautions necessary to keep it performing and safe over time are widely
described in the remaining chapters of this manual.
6. BATTERY DESCRIPTION
The LI ION BATTERY cannot be opened, it is sealed by the manufacturer and cannot be dismantled in any part. It is
a unique piece and is a spare part in its entirety.
The Li-Ion BATTERY is made by several cells connected in series / parallel placed inside a special container, a buit
in BMS electronic device manages the cells both in balancing and in protection.
The BATTERY is marked with a serial number and with the certification code,
marked on the top cover of the battery (see Fig. under).
In case of need, the number shown must be mentioned for requests for assistance
or for the supply of spare parts.

Main battery components (fig.1) are:
•Battery (14),
•Charger connector cap (24),
•Battery’s charge socket (26).
7. BATTERY USE
Battery pack 71397 is used exclusively on the XK Scooter (71382).
8. KNOW THE BATTERY CHARGE STATUS
8.1. CHARGE INDICATOR ON BOARD THE SCOOTER
When the ON / OFF switch is turned to the ON position, a check of the scooter's electronics starts automatically and
the charge indicator LEDs light up in various sequences.
To view the state of charge of the battery, operate the scooter's trigger, after a few seconds of starting the engine,
the reading of the residual battery capacity will be displayed on the charge indicator in relation to the number of lit
LEDs.
For example with Li ION Battery:
9 LEDs on: battery charge from 90% to 100%
8 LEDs on: battery charge from 80% to 90%
7 LEDs on: battery charge between 70% and 80% and so on ...
Note the following:
•The charge indicator on the Scooter (or its display on an external device) provides an approximate indication of
the BATTERY charge status. Depending on the general condition of the BATTERIA and its use, the various
elements that indicate the state of charge during use may not accurately reflect the residual state of charge of
the BATTERY.

Rev.00 –30/12/2020
Pag. 6/19
Code: 71397
•The indication of the state of charge is a relative indication, that is referring to the actual condition of the
BATTERY and not to that of a new battery (at maximum efficiency).
•The BATTERY is subject to a natural decrease in its capacity over time due to various factors including the main
ones being age, how to use it and environmental conditions.
•Particularly heavy use or, on the other hand, too mild (with a few complete charge / discharge cycles), particular
environmental factors and battery damage can lead to:
•- early decay of its effective capacity
•- the reduction of its delivery duration for use
•- falsified readings of the state of charge.
•The same BATTERY in different environmental situations could therefore show different delivery durations.
•It is therefore important to charge the BATTERY 100% before each dive, that is, charge it, until the charger marks
the end of the charge.
•Do not use the charge indicator as a tool to program the dive or the duration of the dive during its course, but
program the dive with the usual safety parameters.
NOTE: SUEX s.r.l. declines any responsibility for the failure or incorrect evaluation of the residual battery
charge that has led to incorrect assessments regarding the autonomy of the Scooter.
8.2. BATTERY STATUS THROUGH BLUETOOTH CHANNEL
SUEX DPVs are equipped with bluetooth devices that allow to get motor and LI ION battery information.
These functions are available only out of water and require the Calypso App (available on Google Play & App store).
In order to turn the Bluetooth system on, the battery has to be connected to the motor and the Scooter has to be
switched ON.
In order to read the battery data when the battery is off-board, connect the battery to the charger and plug the charger
to the main. Once the Bluetooth devices are ON, the application is ready and the data can be read.
First time connection will require Bluetooth pairing of devices and smartphone.
The battery equipped with a DRIVe system has a serial number such as SUEX_BATTxxxxxx_BT, while the motor
has a serial number such as AAxxxxxxxxxx
From here on, follow the App instructions.
DPV acceleration ramp can be adjusted by the same App.

9. BATTERY CHARGE
9.1. HOW TO CHARGE THE BATTERY
To charge, place the BATTERY in a safe place away from people and flammable objects and proceed as described
below.
USE ONLY THE APPROPRIATE BATTERY CHARGER
The battery should ONLY be recharged using the specific battery charger supplied (code 71413).
When the charger is not in use, disconnect it from the wall outlet and put it in its case.
CHARGE PROCEDURE
CAREFULLY READ THE BATTERY CHARGER INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL.
Charge the battery before each use, allowing it to cool before inserting it into the Scooter; during this phase the
battery could release hydrogen which would inevitably accumulate inside the airtight scooter.
The accumulation of hydrogen (in special conditions) could cause accidents, with injuries to people and things.
Extreme temperatures can affect the battery's charging capacity.
Leaving the battery in hot or cold climates, such as a closed car in mid-summer or mid-winter, reduces battery
capacity and life. Always try to keep the batteries between 15 ° C (59 ° F) and 25 ° C (77 ° F). Battery performance
is significantly reduced in temperatures below 0 ° C (32 ° F).
Charging must take place in an appropriate place: covered and ventilated, away from flammable objects or liquids,
away from crowded rooms:
1. Remove the battery from the Scooter. When the battery is removed, disconnect the red connector;
2. The battery must be connected to the charger by means of the appropriate connector (26).
THE BATTERY SHOULD BE CHARGED ONLY THROUGH THE CONNECTOR (26),
IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE THE CONNECTION (RED) CONNECTOR TO THE
MOTOR: DANGER OF FIRE, EXPLOSION, SERIOUS DAMAGE OR DEATH.
Unscrew the plug of the charging connector (24) (fig.1);

Rev.00 –30/12/2020
Pag. 8/19
Code: 71397
Connect the charging connector (26) to the charger (see charger instructions);
Connect the power supply socket of the battery charger to the mains;
Do not connect any other device to the battery while charging;
During charging, the battery should be kept outside the Scooter (the battery must, in fact, be inserted and connected
to the motor only immediately before use and removed from the Scooter immediately after use);
If, however, the battery should be recharged from inside the Scooter it must first be disconnected from the motor (by
disconnecting the red connector) and it must be taken into account that the charging phase naturally determines a
certain development of heat: it must be taken care of perform the operation to make sure that the temperature and
ventilation conditions are such as to effectively dispose of the heat produced and avoid the abnormal overheating of
the battery;
Once charging is complete, disconnect (in order) the charger from its main power source and battery;
Once charging is complete, NEVER leave the charger connected to the BATTERY;
After charging, allow the battery to cool down before inserting it into the Scooter.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS IDEAL FOR CHARGING
The charging temperature range is 0 ° C + 36 ° C. The ideal battery temperature at the start of the charging phase is
20 ° C.
9.2. WHEN CHARGE THE BATTERY
Fully recharge the BATTERY:
•BEFORE EACH USE taking care to let the BATTERY cool before inserting it into the Scooter;
•At least once every 2 months;
•When the charge level is less than 20%.
9.3. NEW BATTERY, FIRST USE
A new battery operates at full capacity only after a few complete charging cycles (4-5): this for reasons related to the
activation of internal chemistry.
10. IMPORTANT WARNINGS ON THE BATTERY LIFE
BATTERY life (i.e. the total amount of energy that it can supply to the user device after a full charge) is a feature that
depends on numerous factors including environmental conditions, how it is used, how to charge and discharge.
To counteract the natural progressive - normally very slow - decay over time of the battery life, the user must keep
in mind that:
•Extreme temperatures can affect battery capacity and charging efficiency.
•Batteries must be stored at a temperature between 15 ° C and 36 ° C (the ideal temperature is around 20 ° C):
conditions other than those described above can affect the effectiveness of the recharge as well as the number
of possible recharges.
•Leaving (and storing) the BATTERY in a hot (> 36 ° C) or cold (<15 ° C) environment reduces the battery capacity
and its life span.
•If during the use of the Scooter you notice a significant drop in distributed power, immediately stop use and turn
it off using the switch.
The state of efficiency of the BATTERY, as regards the duration of delivery, must be periodically checked: batteries
that show a 20% reduction compared to the condition at the beginning of their life must be replaced and disposed of
in the manner provided (see Cap. "Disposal").
An indication of the current state of efficiency of the battery is the "burn-test" test (see User manual Burn - test).
NEVER stop charging the battery: partial charges damage the battery and reduce
the autonomy of the battery itself!
IMPORTANT NOTE!
Excessive discharge can irreparably damage the battery.

11. IDEAL CONDITIONS FOR BATTERY OPERATION AND DISCHARGE
It is recommended to use the BATTERY at a temperature between 15 ° C and 36 ° C.
To avoid rapid deterioration, the BATTERY must NEVER be completely discharged under any circumstances: the
cut-off device is present in to the BATTERY (see chapter "In the event of cut-off intervention").
12. ELECTRONIC BATTERY CONTROL SYSTEMS (BMS) AND THEIR EFFECTS (CUT-OFF)
LI ION BATTERY PACK integrates the following electronic devices / systems with the function of managing the safety
of the cells that make up the BATTERY.
•Emergency thermostat: intervenes during the charging phase in the event of a BATTERY charger failure which
could lead to battery overcharging. It prevents the BATTERY from overheating by cutting off the charging current.
•Cut - off: intervenes in case of attempt to overdischarge. It eliminates the electrical absorption by interrupting the
supply of current to the user device, it is restored by recharging the BATTERY.
•Overcharge protection: during the charging phase it prevents the circumstance that the charger does not
automatically interrupt the charging period.
•Short circuit protection: each cell inside the battery pack is individually protected electronically against accidental
short circuits, in any case DO NOT SHORT CIRCUIT THE BATTERY BECAUSE IT COULD DAMAGE THIS
SYSTEM IRREPARABLY and the BATTERY should be replaced.
•Auto OFF system: the battery is equipped with a protection system against accidental discharges. It provides for
the interruption of the voltage in case the scooter is left on for more than 4 hours without using it. To restore
operation, simply turn off the scooter by turning the switch to the OFF position, wait at least 5 seconds before
turning on again.
Particular attention must be paid to the presence of the cut-off system as its intervention determines the supply of
energy to the Scooter and this occurs suddenly.
The non-operating condition imposed by the cut-off system is temporary and normal operation is restored after having
recharged the BATTERY using the special charger. The cut-of intervention is to be considered the electronic
BATTERY protection system against accidental total discharge, it is located inside the BATTERY and is connected
in series between the BATTERY and the Scooter motor.
The function is to prevent the excessive discharge of the cells with the possible danger of reversing the polarity of
one or more cells, with consequent possible destruction of the BATTERY pack with the potential to create even very
serious damage to things and / or people.
During the discharge of the batteries, the voltage drops until it reaches a limit value at which point the cut-off prevents,
by interrupting the power supply, the BATTERY can be discharged further.
When the cut-off intervenes, the battery no longer supplies voltage to the connector.
To restore the situation of use of the battery, it is necessary to recharge it only by means of the special battery charger
(see user manual of the battery charger) and restore the circuit.
The cut off intervention is to be considered exceptional and this event should not occur during normal use of the
battery, as the correct use of the vehicle does not require excessive discharge of the same.
12.1. IN THE EVENT OF CUT-OFF INTERVENTION
In case of intervention of the cut-off system, proceed as follows:
•Follow the procedure for opening the scooter;
•Disconnect the battery motor power connector;
•Remove the battery from the Scooter;
•Leave the battery to rest for at least 2 hours: this is the minimum time necessary, in this case, to allow the battery
to cool down and return to the waiting state for charging;
•Connect the battery charging connector to the battery charger;
•Proceed with charging, following the instructions in the battery charger user manual.
IMPORTANT NOTE!
Remember that when the cut off device intervenes, the Scooter inevitably stops
working.
This event must in no way be a source of danger for the diver, who will have
planned the diving activity taking into account that the use of the Scooter cannot
IMPORTANT NOTE!
After using the Scooter, always cut off the power supply to the motor by using the
Scooter main switch: the electronic control of the Scooter motor board, even with
the engine not running, has a very low energy consumption which, in the long
term, can lead to complete discharge of the BATTERY, with possible irreversible
damage of the BATTERY PACK.

be considered as a system to safeguard one's life or to get out of situations. of
difficulty.
SUEX s.r.l. declines all responsibility following the intervention of the cut off system, in any situation, in
dangerous situations or in dives where the diver has (at his complete risk) entrusted his return to the surface
to the Suex Scooter.
Please note that the Scooter must be considered as an aid to diving and not as a means of rescue.
13. BASIC RULES FOR SAFETY
The BATTERY is the most delicate part of the underwater vehicle, it must be handled and stored scrupulously
following the instructions in this manual.
Handle batteries with care to avoid shocks or mechanical damage or leakage of liquid materials that can seriously
damage your health.

If any of these cases occur would please, contact the SUEX assistance service before using the battery.
14. FIRE MANAGEMENT
Batteries must be stored and recharged in rooms free of flammable substances and far from people living places.
In the event of a fire, the BATTERY gives off dangerous liquids and vapors which can cause corrosive injuries and
burns and present an explosion hazard. It is important to implement all the procedures necessary for the insulation
and extinction of the fire or for the management of the event. The staff must know all the actions to be performed in
total safety and all means of individual protection must be available in accordance with current legislation.
Make sure that enought ventilation is available so that hazardous and potentially explosive vapors can be released.
Leave the room immediately in case of strong smoke development.
Contact a doctor in case of respiratory tract irritation.
Only extinguish BATTERY fires with water: powder fire extinguishers and fire blankets are ineffective with lithium
batteries.
Wait for the BATTERY to cool completely.
15. HANDLING AND STORAGE OF THE BATTERY
15.1. HANDLING
The battery must always be kept:
•previously charged and subsequently disconnected from any external electrical load;
•outside the Scooter;
•out of the reach of children;
•in a dry place (humidity 65% +/- 5%);
•at temperatures between 15 ° and 36 ° C;
•adopting means to prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt.
15.2. STORAGE
During the storage period, and in any case when not used for diving, the storage of the buttery must take place in
the following conditions:
•previously charged and subsequently disconnected from any external electrical load;
•outside the Scooter;

•The batteries are fully charged in any case when the charge level is below 20%.
Suex cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to the battery resulting from failure to follow the instructions
contained in this manual.
16. MESSAGES, PROBLEMS, CAUSES AND REMEDIES
The below list mentions all the error messages that could appear on the BATTERY display together with their
meaning and corresponding behavior to be adopted in the circumstance.
Strictly observe the following list:
AUTO OFF - BATTERY IN STANDBY MODE:
The "AOFF" message informs that the battery is in the auto off state: this low
energy consumption condition occurs in the normal behaviour after a few hours
of inuse and it is part of the normal functioning.
When the "AOFF" message appears on the display - also accompained with the
bell sign - alternate with the SOC value the situation is fully normal and IT IS
NOT AN ALLARM.
To wake up the battery and turn it on connect to a load (i.e. to the battery
charger or to the DPV acting on the trigger for 5 seconds).
BATTERY PACK UNDER CHARGING PROCESS:
verify the correct charger is being used
BATTERY PACK UNDER DISCHARGING PROCESS:

Since the electronic circuits on board the battery have their own internal energy
consumption - negligible but NOT NULL - every care must be taken by the user to
prevent that during prolonged periods of inactivity the batteries may suffer
damage, even irreversible, to due to excessive cell discharge.
In a preventive perspective, in order to avoid that the aforementioned practice is
not followed - with possible IRREVERSIBLE damage to the battery - during ANY
logistic phase after the supply of the goods, SUEX s.r.l. hereby would like to

21. REACH COMPLIANCE STATEMENT
Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation (EC No. 1907/2006)
The European Union’s REACH Directive (EC 1907/2006) is designed to regulate the Registration, Evaluation,
Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical Substances. REACH legislation was finalised in December 2006 and has
been in effect since June 2007.
SUEX s.r.l. hereby confirms that all products manufactured address the European Union Regulation (EC) 1907/2006
with the company’s role being that of an ‘article producer’ and its manufactured products being considered as ‘articles’
defined under REACH regulation Article 3.
SUEX has contacted its supplies and confirms that to the best of its knowledge and belief all necessary registration
of any in-scope substances on the REACH SVHC Candidate List 1 have been undertaken by them.
Registration is required for companies that either produce or import into the EU any substance in volumes that exceed
one tonne per substance per year. SUEX does exceed these amounts and is not required to register.
SVHC materials Lead (CAS No 7439-92-1) is used in the manufacture of ballast elements in concentration levels
greater than the specified limit of 0.1% (weight by weight). Ballast elements using these substances are encased
and are considered out of the scope of the restriction due to non-mouthability/non reachability under normal or
reasonably foreseeable condition of use as defined by the REACH regulation and existing guidance.
Articles that contain these substances in greater than 0.1% concentrations are RoHS compliant using exemptions
from RoHS regulations under Annex IV, items 13 of the directive, which specifies:
Lead in counterweights
SUEX should be contacted if further SVHC information for purchased products is required.
