Safety precautions
• Never use ordinary (non-rechargeable) batteries. Only use
approved batteries of the same type (rechargeable), as
otherwise battery damage can result (dangerous), see ta-
ble page 7.
• The handset’s battery compartments feature the following
diagrams:
gInsert rechargeable batteries correctly in
accordance with polarity symbols.
hOperate battery type in accordance with these
operating instructions.
• Do not use strange charging devices, as this could dama-
ge the batteries.
• Batteries heat up during charging – this is a normal occur-
rence and is not dangerous.
• The handset can affect medical equipment.
• The handset can cause unpleasant humming in hearing
aids.
• Do not operate the handset in environments where there
is risk of explosion, such as a paint shop.
• Always include the operating instructions when passing
your handset onto third parties.
• The batteries and handset should be disposed of in an
environmentally-friendly manner.

Preparing the handset
Contents of the package
Handset, 2 batteries, belt clip, user manual.
Inserting the batteries
• Insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity – see figu-
re on left.
• Insert the battery cover approx. 3 mm into the battery
compartment and slide it upwards until it clicks into pla-
ce.
•To o p e n the battery cover, press the grooved area on the
cover and slide downwards.
• Never use ordinary (non-rechargeable) batteries.
Only use approved batteries of the same type
(rechargeable), as otherwise battery damage can
result (dangerous), see table page 7.
• The handset’s battery compartments feature the
following diagrams:

hOperate battery type in accordance with

Charging the batteries
The batteries supplied are not charged.
To charge the batteries, insert the handset in the base sta-
tion or charging unit (accessory) – you will hear the confirma-
tion beep. The charging status icon flashes on the handset
display to indicate that a charging operation is in progress:
Approved batteries:
Always replace both batteries and only use batteries of the
same type/from the same manufacturer.

– We recommend initially charging the batteries for at least
16 hours without interruption – irrespective of the
charging status icon.
– Charging is controlled electronically. This ensures opti-
mum charging and prolongs battery life.
It is recommended that you discharge the batteries at re-
gular intervals.
– The batteries heat up during charging.
– The battery charging status is only displayed correctly
after uninterrupted charging/discharging. You should
therefore avoid opening the battery compartment unne-
cessarily.

Handset operating time/charging time:
Attaching the belt clip
Press the belt clip against the back of the handset until the
side protrusions click into place in the holes provided.
Activating/deactivating the handset
±Press the end call key for 1 second.
Activating/deactivating keypad protection
When keypad protection is activated, the keypad buttons are
ineffective.
Calls can be accepted with the talk key C.
wHold key down for more than
1 second to activate/deactivate keypad pro-
tection.

Assigning the handset
You must assign your handset at the base station before you
can start to make calls.
Step 1
• First prepare the base station for registration:

• You now have one minute to enter the following at the
handset:
°uxPress the keys shown.
¯` Enter the base station number, e.g. ¯(sta-
tion 1-4) and confirm.

Enter the base station’s system PIN and con-
firm (factory setting: 0000) – the unassigned
call numbers appear after a few seconds.
e.g. oEnter the desired call number – the statio-
nary base icon is displayed.

Making calls
Making an external call
OEnter the call number.
If necessary, correct it with the delete key
v.
CPress the talk key to start the dial operation.
Ending a call:
Press the end call key ±.
Making an internal call
uPress the INT key – the actual internal call
number is displayed.
OEnter the internal call number.
Press xto call all handsets.
Ending a call:
Press the end call key ±.
Answering a call
CPress the talk key.

Lremove the handset from the base station/
charging unit if the auto talk feature is activa-
ted.

cancel the dial operation with the end call key

–Youcaninsertapause with the recall key 4(hold it
down).
– You can opt to not save entries, e.g. when checking an
account: press the keys °x, all characters entered af-
terwards are not saved for number redial.

Transferring a call, enquiry call
The base stations Pronto 210, To p E 3 01,
Classic E104 and
To p E 3 0 4 allow you to transfer an external call to another
handset or to conduct an internal enquiry call.
uPress the INT key.
ODial the internal call number.
When the user answers:
•transfer the call: press the end call key ±.
•enquiry call: press the recall key 4to revert to the cal-
ler on hold.
Redial
Redialling a number
You can access the last five call numbers dialled.
1Display call numbers.
_Select a call number.
If necessary, confirm the number with `
and correct it with the delete key v.
CPress the talk key to start the redial opera-
tion.
Deleting redial numbers
All five redial numbers are deleted.
°Press the set key.
¯t`Initiate the setting.

Speed dialling
The speed dialling function allows you to dial up to 10 call
numbers at the push of a button.
Saving/changing/deleting call numbers
°-Press the set key followed by the speed dial
key.
e.g. ¯Enter the speed dial number (memory loca-
tion, digit 0to 9) or press _to scroll.
`Confirm the number.
OEnter a new call number or delete/change an
existing call number with v.
`± Save the number.
Speed dialling
2Display the call numbers.
e.g. ¯Enter the speed dial number (0to 9) or
press _to scroll.
If necessary, confirm the number with `
and dial further digits for the extension num-
ber.
CPress the talk key to start the dial operation.
Saving a call number from the redial list
°2Press the set key followed by the speed dial
key.
e.g. ` Enter the speed dial number (digit 0to 9) or
press _to scroll and confirm.
_Select the call number (scroll) – the other
redial numbers are displayed.
`± Save the call number.

Deleting the speed dial list
All call numbers saved are deleted!
°Press the set key.
¯t`Activate the function.
Te l . P I N `Enter the telephone PIN and confirm
(factory setting: 0000).
¯`±Delete the speed dial list.
Network access support
• Using the speed dial key
– Save the call number as the speed dial number "0" see
„Speed dialling” page 12
Hold down the speed dial key -to display the call
number saved as speed dial number "0".
2Hold down the speed dial key – the prefix is
displayed.
OC Enter the user’s call number and press the
talk key to dial the "complete" number.
• By "linking" the speed dial list
You can save prefix codes as speed dial numbers:
2_` Display the prefix code and confirm.
e.g.
2_` Display the user’s call number in the speed
dial list and confirm or enter it manually.
CPress the talk key to dial the complete num-
ber.

Security
Changing the telephone PIN
Important functions/settings are protected by the handset’s
telephone PIN (Personal Identification Number).
°Press the set key.
¯o`Activate the function.
Te l . P I N `Enter the current telephone PIN and
confirm (factory setting: 0000).

Enter the new telephone PIN (4 digits)
twice.
`± Save the new telephone PIN.
Activating direct station selection
This function is not available in all countries!
When direct station selection (DSS) is active, every key-
stroke triggers a call to the DSS number saved. This
function is used to call for help or raise an alarm.
Saving/changing/deleting a DSS number:
°Press the set key.
¯¯`Select the function.
Te l . P I N `Enter the telephone PIN and confirm
(factory settings: 0000).
o`Press the keys shown.
OEnter or change the DSS number or press
vto delete it.
`Save the DSS number – direct station selec-
tion is activated.
Do not forget your telephone PIN! Forgotten PINs can
only be reset by Swisscom for a fee!
The telephone lock is activated if you press `when the _
(empty) icon is displayed.

Activating the handset lock
All functions with the exception of emergency call are una-
vailable when the telephone is locked. You can still be rea-
ched, however. Simply press the talk key Cto accept a
call.
°Press the set key.
¯¯`Select the function.

(factory setting: 0000).
¯`Activate the telephone lock.
Deactivating the handset lock/direct station
selection
°Press the set key.

You can dial all base station emergency numbers.

Settings
Ringer volume
You can choose between 5 volumes and the "crescendo"
ring (increasing volume).
°qActivate the function – you will hear the rin-
ger.
e.g. pChange the ringer volume (level 1 to 5,
crescendo = 6).
`Save the setting.
Ring tones
You can choose between 10 ring tones.
°~Activate the function – you will hear the rin-
ger.
e.g. Select the ring tones (0 to 9).
`Save the setting.
Handset volume
You can set the handset volume to any of 3 levels (even
during a call).
°Press the set key.
¯º`Activate the function.
e.g. oChange the volume (1, 2 or 3).

Activating/deactivating beeps
•Confirmation beeps – function code 13 (both beeps)
– Confirmation beep (1 beep) when you conclude a
function and replace the unit in the charging unit
– Error beep (4 short beeps) when you make an incorrect
entry
•Key beep – function code 14
– every keystroke is confirmed
•Battery warning beep – function code 15
– when the battery is empty
°Press the set key.
e.g.
¯p` For example, enter function code 14 and
confirm.
e.g. ºFor example, deactivate the key beep.
Deactivate = 0; activate = 1
You can also activate the battery warning
beep for call status only = enter o.
`± Save the entry.
Activating/deactivating base station display
The current base station is displayed when the handset is
idle.
°Press the set key.

Activating/deactivating auto talk
When this function is active, you can answer a call by remo-
ving the handset from the base station or charging unit.
°Press the set key.
¯s`Activate the function.
e.g. ºEnter ºto deactivate auto talk.
Enter ¯to activate auto talk.
`± Save the setting.
Resetting the factory settings
This setting does not delete the telephone PIN. Base sta-
tion registrations are maintained.

Changing the base station
Prerequisite: the handset is registered with more than one
base station.
You can choose one of the following settings:
• Set the handset to automatically select (factory setting)
the best base (factory setting).
• Set the handset to priority base station – the handset
searches for other base stations if this is not found within
30 seconds.
• Set the handset to a fixed base station.
°uPress the set key followed by the INT key.
e.g. ¯¯ For example, set base 1 as the priority base.
For automatic selection: enter º.
For priority base: enter the base number
twice.
For fixed base: enter the base number
once.
`± Save the setting and terminate the function.

Appendix
Warranty/repair/maintenance/approval
Warranty
Swisscom offers a two-year warranty for this device from
the date of purchase.
For a repair under warranty, the warranty card must be com-
pleted, stamped by the dealer and returned with the faulty
terminal.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by incorrect
use, wear and tear or third-party access. The warranty does
not cover consumables or defects which only have a minor
effect on the value or operability of the terminal.
In the event of malfunction, please contact the dealer.
Repair/maintenance
Leased terminals
If your telephone does not work properly, contact the faults
service (telephone number 175).
Repairs1) and fault removal are performed free of charge.
Purchased terminals
Repairs are performed free of charge within the warranty
period in accordance with warranty specifications1). For
repair, the terminal must be returned to the dealer.
If the faults service is used (even during the warranty
period), you will be charged a fee for travel and time. Out-
side the warranty period, material costs are invoiced in addi-
tion to this.
Battery
Batteries are considered as consumables and as such are
not covered by the warranty. Defective batteries are not
replaced free of charge. The applies to both leased and
purchased terminals.

terminal is dropped, leakages, etc.).
