Note:

ISDN functions are network-related services which, depending on the network opera-
tor, may at present only be available in part or not at all.
This user guide describes the maximum extent of functions the Eurit 535/565 can pro-
vide. Due to applicable country regulations or circumstances relating to the network
operator or provider, there may be some differences or limits to the functions or opera-
tion as described in this user guide.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products.
About the set
In choosing the Eurit 535/565 you have acquired a cordless telephone that combines the
advantages of "untied telephoning" with the user comfort of the Euro-ISDN network.
The set itself features modern digital technology to the European standard for cordless
telephones DECT). DECT technology features speech encryption that provides a high
level of security against unauthorised interception as well as crystal-clear transmission.
In addition to the usual telephone features the Eurit 535/565 also offers:

Safety notes
The DECT cord ess te ephone is used for
transmitting voice via the digita te ephone
network (Euro ISDN).
No other type of use is permitted: it wi be
regarded as contrary to the te ephone’s
intended use.
The user guide and its safety notes are an
integra part of the equipment and must
be handed over to the new owner when
rese ing the equipment.
Warning!
Use on y approved rechargeab e batteries
and se ect the correct battery type:
Nicke -meta -hydride (NiMH AAA)
• Sanyo: HR-4U
• Toshiba: TH-680AAAR
• HHR65 AAA Z1B
Nicke cadmium (NiCd AAA)
• Panasonic: P-25 AAAR
• Sanyo: N-4U
Using other types of rechargeab e batteries
or ordinary (i.e. non-rechargeab e) batteries
can be dangerous and a so ead to
ma functions of and/or damage to the set.
The producer accepts no iabi ity in such
cases.
• Make sure the batteries are fitted
correct y as shown in the battery
compartment of the handset.
• Do not dip the batteries in water; do
not throw them into the fire.
• Batteries can become warm when
being charged; this is a norma and
harm ess process.
• To avoid damage to the batteries, do
not use charging stations from other
manufacturers.
• For the base station and the charging
bay use on y the power supp y unit
SNG 5 af as supp ied.
• Before using the te ephone, hearing-
aid users shou d note that radio
signa s interfere with hearing aids and
may cause an unp easant humming
noise if sufficient y oud.
• Do not use your DECT cord ess
te ephone in potentia y exp osive
environments (e.g. workshops where
paints or acquers are being used,
petro stations etc.)
• Do not set up your base station in
bathrooms or shower rooms.
• The function of some medica
apparatus may be affected by the
te ephone’s radio signa s.
• If there is a power outage in the
e ectricity grid or if the rechargeab e
batteries are in a discharged state,
your DECT cord ess te ephone wi not
work.
• The babyphone function is designed
to provide support but it does not
obviate the need for persona
monitoring. If there is a power outage
in the e ectricity grid or if the
rechargeab e batteries are in a
discharged state, the babyphone
feature wi not work.
• Do not charge the handset un ess the
battery compartment contains
batteries and the battery
compartment cover is in p ace.
• Do not touch the e ectrica contacts.

functions may first have to be deactivated
before you can make a emergency ca .

rechargeab e batteries, the base station,

Suitable location
Your te ephone is designed for norma use
in domestic and office bui dings. Keep the
fo owing points in mind when se ecting a
ocation for it:

damage to your furniture
• In the centre of your radius of action
• At east 1 m distance between the
base station and other e ectronic
devices
Unsuitable
• On a meta ic surface or an under ay
prone to s ipping
• Near e ectronic devices (e.g. HiFi
equipment, TV, microwaves)
• Near sources of radiation (e.g.
radiators, direct sun ight)
• Behind stee doors, or g ass doors with
meta mesh
• In niches or shie ded rooms
• Without an under ay on painted or
acquered furniture or on p astics
Range
The operating range is as fo ows:
• Outdoors approx. 300 m
• Indoors approx. 50 m, depending on
ambient conditions and bui ding-
re ated factors
Outside the operating range:
• Range warning beep sounds (if
switched on)
• Disconnection of the ca
Note:
Si ent zones within the operating range,
depending on the structura environment,
may cause brief interruptions to a ca or
oss of the connection.
Protection against listening-in
Between the base station and the handset,
ca s are transmitted in encrypted form to
prevent the possibi ity of istening in with
other cord ess te ephones, radio receivers
or scanners.

Warning:
Make sure you do not confuse the p ugs
of the te ephone ine cab e and the p ug-in
power supp y cord on the base station.
• If you do connect the p ugs the wrong
way round, the base station wi not
function and may be damaged.
Telephone line cable
The te ephone ine cab e has two different
p ugs:
1. Insert the sma er p ug into the
socket (te ephone icon) underneath
your te ephone unti the p ug snaps
firm y into p ace.
2. Feed the cord through the mou ded
cab e duct provided.
3. Connect the arger p ug to your
te ephone socket.
Power supply cable
1. Insert the p ug of the power supp y
cab e into the socket marked with
the power supp y icon unti the
p ug c icks into p ace.
2. Feed the cab e through the cab e
duct provided.
3. Connect the p ug-in power supp y
to a 230V out et.
Note:
Your te ephone wi not function if the
power supp y is not p ugged in or if the
power fai s.
The te ephone may on y be used in
conjunction with a power supp y SNG 5 af
as supp ied, which has been tested in
comp iance with EN60950 Protection
C ass 2.
Base station
Disconnecting the cables from
the base station
1. First unp ug the power supp y from
the 230V mains socket.
2. To re ease the p ugs, press the
snap-in c ip towards the p ug body
(e.g. using a sma screwdriver) and
at the same time pu the p ug out
by the cab e.

Inserting the back plate
1. Insert the back p ate in the groove
of the base station and press it on
ight y.
2. Make sure that the support tab ➀
on the back of the back p ate c icks
into the s ot provided.
There is a definite click when the
back plate is properly seated.
Note:
The ang e of the back p ate is fixed.
If the back p ate (wing) is not inserted, the
handset cannot be charged.
Removing the back plate
1. Ho d the base station with your
thumbs.
2. With your index fingers app y ight
upward pressure at points ➁ and

Inserting the batteries in the
handset
1. Remove the battery compartment
cover by ight y pressing on the
upper edge of the cover and s iding
it downwards.
2. Insert the 3 batteries in the battery
compartment (as shown). Make
sure the po arity is correct.
3. Rep ace the battery compartment
cover and s ide it back unti it c icks
into p ace.
Note:
If the batteries are inserted incorrect y, the
handset wi not function; damage might
resu t.
On y use the same type or brand of batteries
in the compartment at any given time.

Charging the batteries
The batteries are in a discharged state when
supp ied; they wi first need to be charged:
1. P ace the handset in the base
station or the charging bay.
An acknowledgement tone
indicates that the handset is
correctly positioned.
Note:
Use on y rechargeab e batteries. Do not use
ordinary batteries.
Do not p ace the handset in the charging
bay if the batteries have not been fitted.
Before initia use, batteries have to be
charged without interruption for at east
12 hours in the case of NiMH batteries, and
for at east 6 hours in the case of NiCd
batteries.
On y remove the batteries from the handset
to rep ace them with new ones.
Do not charge the batteries out of the
handset.
Battery endurance between
charging
A set of NiMH batteries provides approx.:
• 150 hrs "standby"
• 15 hrs "ta k time"
A set of NiCd batteries provides approx.:
• 80 hrs "standby"
• 8 hrs "ta k time"
Note:
Make sure you se ect the correct battery
type. See section "Handset settings".
Charging contacts must not come into
contact with meta ic or greasy parts.
After a ong period out of operation with
the power switched off (e.g. during
ho idays) the batteries wi need recharging
before the set can be operated again.
Battery indicator
When the batteries are first inserted, the
battery status is unc ear. A correct indication
in the disp ay is obtained on y after a
comp ete charging cyc e.
