For Your Safety Before performing any work on or with the Te-Stack, first read the Operating
Manual carefully, in particular chapter 2 “Safety”.

0.2.1 Intended Use
Intended Use The Te-Stack is intended for unloading and loading microplates and loading DiTis.
Te-Stack is an option of Freedom EVO or the Te-MO.

0.3 CE Conformity
Te-Stack The Te-Stack is not a self-contained instrument, but an option to be used on a
Tecan automation platform (superior instrument).
System
Integration The safety of the option can only be ensured if it is installed on the superior
instrument and integrated in the complete system in such a way that safety
elements used in common, such as safety panels, become effective.
Declaration of
Incorporation Therefore, CE conformity cannot be declared for the Te-Stack. It is delivered with
a declaration of incorporation. This implies that the Te-Stack must not be put into
service until the entire system, into which it is incorporated, has been declared in
conformity with the provisions of the EC Directives.
0.4 CSA Certification
The Te-Stack is tested and certified by the Canadian Standards Association
(CSA).
CSA Marking The CSA marking is affixed to the Te-Stack.
Radio
Interference According to the ICES-001 notice the following statement applies to the Te-Stack:

Generators:
This ISM apparatus meets all requirements of the Canadian interference-causing
equipment regulations.
Please note that this requirement is only for generators which operate at over

Purpose of This
Chapter This chapter points out the safety concept of the Te-Stack and contains general
rules of behavior and warnings from hazards pertaining to the use of the product.
Significance of
These Safety
Instructions
The safety of users and personnel can only be ensured if these safety instructions
and the safety-related warnings in the individual chapters are strictly observed
and followed.
Therefore, the Operating Manual must always be available to all persons
performing the tasks described herein.
2.1 User Qualifications
What Users
Must Know The laboratory personnel must be qualified and trained to operate the Te-Stack.
In particular, operators must fulfill the following qualifications:
They must have a thorough knowledge of the application run on the system.
They must be familiar with the good laboratory practice guidelines.
They must have read and understood the instructions in this Operating
Manual.
Only personnel that meets the qualifications prescribed here is authorized to
perform the work described in this Operating Manual.

Courses Note: Tecan recommends that the operator attends an operator training course.

2.3 Product Safety
Principle The Te-Stack is designed and built in accordance with the present state-of-the-art
technology and the recognized technical safety regulations.
Nevertheless, risks to users, property, and the environment can arise when the
instrument is used carelessly or improperly.
Appropriate warnings in this Operating Manual serve to make the user alert to
these residual dangers.
2.3.1 Safety of the Overall System
In addition to the safety instructions in this Operating Manual, the safety
instructions of the superior system must also be observed and followed.

ATTENTION
Unsafe operating condition and wrong measuring results in the process, if the
system is leaking.
If liquid is dripping from the tips or other parts of the liquid system, the Te-
Stack must not be operated any more.
Operation may only be resumed if the necessary maintenance or repair work has
been performed and the proper condition of the system has been verified.
