2.2 Installation in a rack
The SDE device can be installed in a 19” rack.
2.2.1 Standalone
An SDE device can be placed as a standalone on a flat, stable surface. The adhesive rubber feet must be stuck to
the underside panel to prevent the router from sliding.
Make sure there is enough space around the router (for ventilation purposes) and check that the electricity cables
can reach it.
2.2.2 Wall mounting
The SDE cannot be wall.mounted.

2.3 Power source
The SDE is powered by means of two internal AC/DC sources. The SDE has two power inputs and two power sup-
plies that operate simultaneously. It can operate each one individually or both at the same time. If SDE is powered by
the two power supplies and one of them fails, the other one acts as a backup.
Warning
The equipment must be used with the power supply provided by the manufacturer.
Workplace Conditions. Main Characteristics
• Avoid humid and/or dusty locations.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and other heat sources. The device should not be placed amongst papers,
magazines or other elements that could hinder natural air circulation.
• The device should not be placed close to strong electromagnetic fields, e.g., by speakers, motors, etc.
• Knocks and/or strong vibrations should be avoided during transport, operation and storage.
2.4 Connecting the data
The SDE has the following data connections.
2.4.1 SFP ports
The SDE incorporates 4 10Gbit SFP ports.
Fig. 9: SFP ports (with connected transceivers)
All OSDx interfaces are bridged by default. The system tries to obtain the IP address via DHCP. If no IP address is
obtained, 192.168.1.1 will act as default.
The SSH server is enabled in SDE. Default credentials are:
user: admin
password: admin
2.4.2 Connecting for configuration
To access the SDE device via the local console, a monitor and a keyboard can be connected to it (using the VGA
and USB ports, respectively)
Default credentials are:
user: admin
password: admin
2.5 Factory reset
To perform a factory reset and restore the default configuration, follow these steps:
(a) Enter SDE's local console.
(b) Type the following command: factory-reset now

Appendix A Technical Information
A.1 Troubleshooting
The following table can help you solve problems when installing the device. If you cannot solve the issue, contact
your dealer for more information.
Symptom Solution
Drive error · Check the System Event Log to determine if there is a drive-related error.
· Run the appropriate Online Diagnostics test. Restart the system and run embed-
ded diagnostics (ePSA).
· If drives are configured in a RAID array, restart the system and enter the host ad-
apter configuration utility program.
Temperature error Make sure none of the following conditions are present:
· A cooling fan has been removed or has failed.
· A system cover, air shroud, memory module blank, or back filler bracket has
been removed.
· The room temperature is too high.
· The external airflow is obstructed.
Electrical error. Check the System Event Log or system messages to identify the error. If it is due
to a problem with the PSU, check the LED on the PSU. Reset the PSU.
Memory error Check the System Event Log or system messages to locate the memory that is
failing. Reset the memory module.
PCIe error. Restart the system. Update any required drivers for the PCIe card. Reinstall the
card.
A.2 Updating the software
The SDE software can be updated to newer versions. Please contact your dealer for information on new releases.
