Description
Power supply for module.
Digital input 1
Data channel for Dallas devices
Ground pin
+ 3,8 V output for 1-Wire®
Digital output. Open collector
output. Max. 150mA.
Most installations require only the first 3 wires. Red, Black and Yellow
(Power, Ground and ignition). Other wires are typically used for additional
monitoring
requirements, such as temperature monitoring or Driver ID.
Any un-used wires should ideally be coiled up and kept for potential future
use, but can be cut if necessary (if cutting, it is our recommendation that at
least a 3 – 6cm lead be left so as to supply a fly lead for future connection
of additional monitoring devices).
Installation best practices
• Wires should be connected while GPS device is not plugged in.
• Wires should be fastened to the other wires (excluding air bag wires)
or non-moving parts. Avoid heat emitting and moving objects near the
wires, modules or antennas.
• Wires should not impede, interfere, or interface with any components of
the vehicles air bag systems, nor cause any hardware or wires to come in
contact with or run directly in front of any air bag equipment or deploy-
ment pathways.
• If the wires are placed in the exterior or in places where they can be
damaged or exposed to heat, humidity, dirt, etc., additional isolation
should be applied.
• Wires must not be connected to on-board computers or control units.
Connecting ignition wire
Connection to the ignition wire is necessary in order to capture when trips
start and finish.
• Confirm the ignition wire – power does not disappear while starting the
engine.
• Confirm the wire is not an ACC wire (when key is in the first position,
most electronics of the vehicle are available).
• Confirm power is still available after turning oany of vehicles devices
(e.g. radio).
Connecting the power source
Check if the power is still available on the vehicle’s power wire, even after
the car computer falls asleep (which might take up to 30 minutes). When
the module is connected, check the voltage again. If it did not decrease it
is recommended to connect to the main power cable in the fuse box.
Placing antennas
• Avoid placing antennas under metal surfaces.
• Avoid easily reachable places.
• Antennas should be placed as horizontal as possible (GPS antennas in-
stalled on an angle greater than 30 degrees are considered incorrectly
mounted and may cause faulty signal reading).
• Ensure the GPS antenna is be placed with the sticker facing down.
• It is recommended to place the GPS antenna beneath the dashboard as
close to the window as possible. A good example of the GPS antenna
placement area is displayed in a picture below (area colored green).
Customer Responsibilities
1. The Customer/Installer shall review all supplied hardware product to
ensure all components have been shipped prior to commencing installa-
