PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Titan™ Stabilizers are sterile single-use accessory devices for use
with the Terumo Stabilizing Arms. The device provides stabilization and
coronary artery isolation. The Titan Stabilizer Attachments include a
vacuum option to maintain the position of the device.
Included in the sterile package is:
Titanconsistingofthefollowingparts(seeFigure1):
• The stabilizer attachment assembly with an approximately 24”
length of ¼” outer diameter tubing with female luer connector on
one end to connect to stopcock.
• Hi-ow4-waystopcock
Accessory components consisting of the following parts:
• A12’lengthof¼”internaldiametertubingwithamaleluer
connector on one end and vacuum source connector on the other
end.
• A3’segmentof¼”internaldiametertubingwithfemaleconnectors
on both sides to connect the canister to the vacuum regulator if
required.

INTENDED USE
The stabilizers are intended for use in beating heart CABG (coronary artery
bypass graft) procedures to stabilize the anastomotic site (coronary artery
isolation).
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The stabilizers are contraindicated for use in patients with local or systemic
infection.
Do not position the stabilizers on newly infarcted tissue, aneurysmal tissue,
fragile tissue, or directly over a coronary artery.
WARNINGS
• This device is sterile and is intended FOR SINGLE USE
ONLY. DO NOT REUSE. DO NOT RESTERILIZE. DO NOT
REPROCESS. REPROCESSING MAY COMPROMISE
THE STERILITY, BIOCOMPATIBILITY AND FUNCTIONAL
INTEGRITY OF THE DEVICE.
• Do not use product if packaging or product is damaged as sterility
or integrity of the device may be compromised.
• Proper surgical procedure and technique is the responsibility of
the attending medical professional (physician). Each surgeon
must evaluate the appropriate use of this device, case by case,
based upon medical training, experience, and the type of surgical
procedure employed.
• Use of excessive negative vacuum pressure may cause tissue
damage.
CAUTION
United States Federal Law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of
a physician or other licensed practitioner.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Inspectthepackagingandproductthoroughlyfordamagepriorto
use. Using aseptic technique, remove the contents and pass to the
surgicaleldforattachmenttothecompatibleTerumoStabilizerArm.
• ForconnectiontotheTerumoStabilizerArmshaftconguration:
Slide the sleeve of the arm forward and insert the shaft of the
attachment into the quick connect with the detent on the shaft
(oftheattachment)facingtheatareawiththelogoonthesleeve
of the Terumo Stabilizer Arm (see Figure 2). Return the sleeve
to its original position to lock the accessory device into the quick
connect. Check for secure connection.

• ForconnectiontotheTerumoStabilizerArmballconguration:
Grasp the sleeve of the arm and press the ball of the attachment
into the collet of the Stabilizer Arm (see Figure 3). Check for
secure connection.
NOTE: Ensure that the sleeve is grasped during attachment insertion.
Failure to grasp the sleeve may result in an inability to insert the
attachment.

2. The shaft and U-Tube malleable zone can be bent to conform to
anatomic requirements.
• The shaft malleable zone (see Figure 4) can be bent to a
maximum of 45° upwards and 45° downwards. Exceeding this may
cause the shaft to break. Visually verify the integrity of the device
after bending.
• The U-Tube malleable zone (see Figure 4) can be bent upwards
toamaximumof45°anddownwardstoamaximumof20°.
Exceeding this may cause the U-Tube to break. Visually verify the
integrity of the device after bending.
3. FortheTitan™FlexStabilizer(T401232,T401232U),theU-Tube
malleable zone can be bent to conform to anatomic requirements
• TheTitan™FlexStabilizer’sU-Tubemalleablezone(seeFigure4)
canbeopenedsymmetricallytoamaximumof60°intheoutwards
direction. Exceeding this may cause the U-Tube to break. Visually
verify the integrity of the device after bending.
4. FortheTitan™FlexStabilizer(T401232,T401232U),theFoot
malleable zone can be bent to conform to anatomic requirements.
• The Foot malleable zone (Titan™ Flex only, see Figure 4) can be
benttoamaximumof20°downwards.Exceedingthismaycause
the Foot to break or device occlusion. Visually verify the integrity of
the device after bending.

WARNING
• Repeatedbendingand/orexcessiveexingofthemalleable
zones will eventually cause the device to break. Slowly bend
the malleable zones during manipulation. The integrity of the
malleablezonesshouldbevisuallyveriedafterbending.
• Take care not to occlude the vacuum lumen when bending devices.
5. Position the stabilizer attachment as required. Turn the main handle
of the Terumo Stabilizing Arm clockwise to fasten the arm. Refer to
the instructions for use of the Terumo Stabilizer Arms.

Use of vacuum option with Titan Stabilizer Attachments:
1. Attachmaleluerconnectionofaccessoryvacuumtubingtothe
female luer port of the vacuum control stopcock, making sure the
vacuum source is switched OFF. Attach the vacuum source connector
of the accessory vacuum tubing to the vacuum source; turn the
vacuum control stopcock OFF to the vacuum source.
2. Turnthevacuumregulatorofthevacuumsourceontosufcient
negativepressuretoafxtheTitanStabilizerAttachmenttotissue.
Due to variations in OR equipment and utilities, use the least amount
of vacuum necessary for desired product performance. The regulator
shouldnotexceed-400mmHg.
3. Turn the vacuum control stopcock OPEN to the vacuum source
and attachment once proper position has been obtained. Verify
attachment of the stabilizer to the tissue.
4. To release attachment from tissue, turn the vacuum control stopcock
OPEN to the atmosphere prior to removal of the stabilizer attachment.
WARNING
• Use of excessive negative vacuum pressure may cause tissue
damage.
• Place vacuum control stopcock OPEN to atmosphere and OFF to
the vacuum source prior to removal of attachment from tissue.
STORAGE
The Titan Stabilizer Attachments storage conditions:
• A clean, dust-free location out of direct sunlight and free from risk of
high temperature, excessive humidity, and water leakage.
• Do not store the device near chemicals.
DISPOSAL
After use, dispose of product and packaging in accordance with hospital,
administrative and/or local, state, federal and international laws and
regulations.

TILSIGTET BRUG
Stabilisatorerne er beregnet til brug under CABG-indgreb (koronararterie-
bypasstransplantation) på slående hjerte til stabilisering af anastomosestedet
(isolering af koronararterien).
KONTRAINDIKATIONER
Stabilisatorerne er kontraindicerede til brug hos patienter med lokal eller
systemisk infektion.
Stabilisatorerne må ikke placeres på nyligt infarceret væv, aneurismevæv,
skrøbeligt væv eller direkte over en koronararterie.
