Air adjustable cushion for wheelchair

1. Introduction
Prior to use of our products you should inspect the equipment for any defects which may have
occurred during transport. If this happens, please contact your retailer.
Then, please read this instruction which includes important information for the user.
Please contact us if you have any questions concerning the use of the equipment. Our advisors will
provide you with any information you require on an ongoing basis.
Please note that if you have questions other than those concerning the use of our products, you
should contact your doctor, nurse or physical therapist.
2. Characteristics
Air adjustable cushion consists of air chamber with self-inflating control valve. The cushion is
equipped with removable cover made of two different kinds of fabrics. The upper part of the cover is
composed of vapour permeable and moisture resistant fabric while the lower part consists of anti-
sliding fabric which prevents the cushion from moving on the seat surface. Owing to the application
of control valve the cushion self-inflates. The cushion also adapts to user’s body owing to the
application of adaptable air chamber.

3. Application
Air adjustable cushion is designed for patient vulnerable to development of bed sores. The cushion is
recommended to be used in case of patients who are permanently in sitting position and who suffer
from blood flow disorders in the peripheral circulation system. It is used in preventive anti-decubitus
treatment and in initial anti-decubitus therapy (stage I according to EPUAP).
4. Assembly and general recommendation for use
Note! Follow the information contained in this manual while assembly and adjustment. Users with
reduced mobility may need help from a third person who has appropriate skills.
Note! Do not use the cushion when you notice any visible or perceptible damage.
Before first use
Step 1. Put the cushion on the seat with anti-sliding side downwards.
Step 2. The opening with control valve should be placed at the front of the seat.

Step 3. Remove all burdens from the cushion.
Step 4. Pull out the valve through the opening in the front of the cushion and ensure the valve was
pulled out in full.
Step 5. Open the valve by turning it counter-clockwise and by lifting it slightly upwards. The cushion
self-inflates.
Step 6. After inflation, close the valve by turning it clockwise.
Cushion adjustment
Step 1. Sit on the inflated cushion.
Step 2. Open the valve slowly until the air starts to escape. You can adjust the air stream additionally:
a) Press the cap to suppress the air stream.
b) Lift the cap upwards to increase the air stream.
Step 3. Release the excess of air until the user sits stably and comfortably.
Step 4. On completion of adjustment, close the valve.
Removing and putting on the cover
•To remove the cover from the cushion, open the valve, unzip the cover and remove the cover
from the cushion gently.
•To put on the cover, open the valve and put the cover on from the side of the valve so that
the grey part of the cushion is on the same side as the anti-sliding fabric. Then, gently lead
the valve through the opening in the cover and zip the cover in such a way that the grip of
the zip fastener is placed under the protective strap. Inflate and adjust the cushion.

Note! Recommended thickness of the cushion should not be less than 1.5 – 2 cm.

6. Notes and recommendation
Note! The cushion should be placed directly on the seat. Do not use it simultaneously with other
cushions.
Note! Do not use external pumps to inflate the cushion. The cushion is equipped with self-inflating
function.
Note! Use the cushion only on flat surface. Protect the cushion from sharp objects and do not put the
cushion directly on springs or frames with sharp edges.
Note! Placing any objects between the seat and the cushion may damage the cushion.
Note! Do not transfer the cushion by grasping the valve.
Note! Do not place the cushion close to heat source. Keep away from flame and inflammable
substances. Do not keep the cushion in straight sunlight.
Note! Do not use the same cushion with several patients.
Note! Do not exceed maximum capacity of the cushion (150 kg).
Note! Do not make any repairs or modifications by yourself.
Note! Only use original spare parts admitted to operation by the manufacturer. For this purpose,
contact with the retailer.
NOTE! Timago International Group does not bear responsibility of improper moving in the
wheelchair, failure to comply safety regulations and misuse.
7. Maintenace
Cleaning the cushion:
Clean the cushion with damp cloth using mild cleaning agents and prevent it from getting wet. Dry
thoroughly after each cleaning. Usage of strong detergents may lead to damage of the product.
Difficult stains may be removed with local hand washing.
Note! Close control valve before cleaning.
Note! Do not use heat sources while drying.
Note! Do not use bleach, fabric softener or dry cleaning agents!
Cleaning the cover:
The cover may be washed in washing machine at 60oC with the use of mild detergents. Before
cleaning zip the cover. The cover may by dried with stream of hot air or in dry machine in low
temperature.
Note! The cover should be put on the cushion only after thorough dry.
Note! Do note iron the cover!

Disinfection:
Disinfect the cushion using a cloth moistened in a mild detergent.
8. Warranty information
All products distributed by our company are under a warranty, the terms of which are described in
the warranty card received at the time of purchase. Please, keep in mind that for warranty purposes,
the proof of purchase (receipt or invoice) should be retained.
