1 Introduction
T ank you for purc asing an EyeMobile Plus device from Tobii Dynavox!
To ensure t e optimal performance of t is product, please take t e time to read t is manual carefully.
1.1 Explanation of Admonitions
In t is manual we use four (4) levels of admonitions as follows:
T e Note symbol Is used for notifying t e user of somet ing important or of somet ing t at needs special attention.
T e Caution symbol Is used to inform of somet ing t at could cause arm to, or malfunction of, t e equipment.
T e Warning symbol Is used to inform of somet ing in w ic t ere is a conceivable risk of arm to t e user if t e
Warning is ignored.
T e Hig Volume symbol Is used to inform of somet ing t at can cause damage to earing.
1.2 Intended Use
T e EyeMobile Plus is our integrated mobile solution. Wit a built in Eye tracker, IR, switc es, microp one array, battery, great
speakers and a Windows tablet you are ready to go out in t e world no matter if you want to use it as an always connected com-
puter access solution or if you want to use it as a Speec Generating solution. Wit an EyeMobile Plus you are really ready To
Go!
T e EyeMobile Plus includes an eye tracker t at lets you access and control your Windows Tablet using only your eyes. Simply
look at t e tablet and select commands by dwelling, zooming and/or clicking a switc . Alternatively, fully control t e mouse cur-
sor directly wit your eye movements.
T e EyeMobile Plus is intended to be used wit Windows Control for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and/
or for computer access purposes as an alternative input device to t e keyboard and mouse for people t at ave c allenges in
t eir ability to speak and/or access a computer due to injury, disability or illness.
T e EyeMobile Plus is not intended solely as an eye tracking device, but also includes ot er input and output met ods. T ere is
a microp one array built in w ic is intended to be used toget er wit a number of different speec recognition software to al-
low t e user to dictate speec and use t eir voice to assist in controlling t e computer. T e EyeMobile Plus also contains switc
ports t at are intended to be connected to one or more switc es t at can assist a user wit limited mobility in t e control of t e
software on t e device. T e EyeMobile Plus can also be used for environmental control using infrared transmission in cases
suc as t e control of Televisions, music devices, windows, etc.
T e EyeMobile Plus works toget er wit Microsoft Windows Hello and can be configured to make use of Windows Hello's bio-
metric facial recognition log in.
Except for installation, t e EyeMobile Plus is operated mainly by t e user only by using t eir eyes, and it is calibrated against
eac user’s eye movements. T e intention wit t e EyeMobile Plus is to allow t e user to control a computer, but it is not in-
tended for t e control of any ot er medical devices.
T e EyeMobile Plus gives you a fast, accurate and ands free way of accessing t e many ways a computer can enric your life

and bring greater personal independence. You can pursue your interests and education, re-enter t e workplace, stay in touc
wit friends and family, express yourself artistically and creatively, and stay entertained.

compromised.
Using an antivirus program is strongly recommended.

2 Safety
T e EyeMobile Plus device as been tested and approved as compliant to all t e Specifications and Standards listed in Appen-
dix B Compliance Information, page 18. Nevert eless, in order to ensure safe operation of your EyeMobile Plus device, t ere
are a few safety warnings to bear in mind:
No modification of this equipment is allowed
T e EyeMobile Plus is not to be used as a life supporting Device, and it s all not be relied on in case of loss of func-
tion due to power loss or ot er causes.
T ere could be a c oking azard risk if small parts detac from t e EyeMobile Plus device.
T e EyeMobile Plus device s all not be exposed to or used in rain or weat er conditions outside t e Tec nical Speci-
fication of t e EyeMobile Plus device.
Young c ildren or people wit cognitive disabilities s ould not ave access to, or t e use of, t e EyeMobile Plus de-
vice wit out parental or guardian supervision.
T e EyeMobile Plus device s all be used wit care w en moving around.
2.1 Avoiding earing Damage
Permanent earing loss may occur if earp ones, eadp ones or speakers are used at ig volume. To prevent t is,
t e volume s ould be set to a safe level. You can become desensitized over time to ig sound levels w ic may t en
sound acceptable yet still could be damaging your earing. If you experience symptoms suc as ringing in your ears,
please lower t e volume or stop using t e earp ones/ eadp ones. T e louder t e volume, t e less time is required
before your earing could be affected.
Hearing experts suggest t e following measures to protect your earing:
●Limit t e amount of time you use earp ones or eadp ones at ig volume.
●Avoid turning up t e volume to block out noisy surroundings.
●Turn t e volume down if you cannot ear people speaking near you.
To establis a safe volume level:
●Set your volume control at a low setting.
●Slowly increase t e sound until you can ear it comfortably and clearly, wit out distortion.
2.2 Power Supply and Batteries
T e EyeMobile Plus device contains a rec argeable battery. All rec argeable batteries degrade over time. T us t e
possible usage times for t e EyeMobile Plus after a full c arge can become s orter over time t an w en t e device
was new.
T e EyeMobile Plus device uses a Li-ion Polymer battery.
If you are in a ot environment, be aware t at it can affect t e ability to c arge t e battery. T e internal temperature
as to be between 0 ℃/32 ℉and 45 ℃/113 ℉for t e battery to c arge. If t e internal battery temperature raises
above 45 ℃/113 ℉t e battery will not c arge at all.
Move t e EyeMobile Plus device to a cooler environment to let t e battery c arge properly.
Avoid exposing t e EyeMobile Plus device to fire or to temperatures above 60 ℃/140 ℉. T ese conditions may
cause t e battery to malfunction, generate eat, ignite or explode. Be aware t at it is possible, in a worst case scenar-
io, for temperatures to reac greater t an t ose stated above in, for example, t e trunk of a car on a ot day. So, stor-
ing t e EyeMobile Plus device, in a ot car trunk could conceivably lead to a malfunction.

Only c arge t e EyeMobile Plus battery in an ambient temperature of 0 ℃/32 ℉to 45 ℃/113 ℉.
Use only t e supplied power adapter to c arge t e EyeMobile Plus device. Using unaut orized power adapters may
severely damage t e EyeMobile Plus device.
For safe operation of t e EyeMobile Plus device, use only c arger and accessories approved by Tobii Dynavox.
Do not open, or modify, t e casing of t e EyeMobile Plus device or of t e power supply, since you may be exposed to
potentially azardous electrical voltage. T e device contains no serviceable parts. If t e EyeMobile Plus device or its
accessories are mec anically damaged, do not to use them.
If t e battery is not c arged and t e EyeMobile Plus is not connected to t e power supply, t e EyeMobile Plus device
will s ut down.
If t e Power Supply Cord is damaged it needs to be replaced by Service Personnel only. Do not use t e Power Sup-
ply Cord until replaced.
Special regulations apply to s ipping devices containing Li-ion Polymer batteries. If dropped, crus ed, or s ort-
circuited, t ese batteries can release dangerous amounts of eat and may ignite, and are dangerous in fires.

T e Power adapters s all not be used wit out an adult or Caregiver supervision.
2.3 Mounting
T e EyeMobile Plus s ould be mounted according to t e instructions of t e approved mounts used. Tobii Dynavox or
its agents are not liable for damage or injuries to a person or its property due to a EyeMobile Plus falling from a
mounted configuration. T e mounting of a EyeMobile Plus is done entirely at t e user’s own risk.
2.4 Epilepsy Warning
Some people wit Photosensitive Epilepsy are susceptible to epileptic seizures or loss of consciousness w en ex-
posed to certain flas ing lig ts or lig t patterns in everyday life. T is may appen even if t e person as no medical
istory of epilepsy or as never ad any epileptic seizures.
A person wit P otosensitive Epilepsy would also be likely to ave problems wit TV screens, some arcade games,
and flickering fluorescent bulbs. Suc people may ave a seizure w ile watc ing certain images or patterns on a mon-
itor, or even w en exposed to t e lig t sources of an eye tracker. It is estimated t at about 3-5% of people wit epi-
lepsy ave t is type of P otosensitive Epilepsy. Many people wit P otosensitive Epilepsy experience an "aura" or
feel odd sensations before t e seizure occurs. If you feel odd during use, move your eyes away from t e eye tracker.
2.5 Infrared Warning
W en activated, t e EyeMobile Plus emits pulsed infrared (IR) lig t. Certain medical devices are susceptible to dis-
turbance by IR lig t and/or radiation. Do not use t e EyeMobile Plus w en in t e vicinity of suc susceptible medical
devices as t eir accuracy or proper functionality could be in ibited.
2.6 Magnetic Field Warning
T e EyeMobile Plus Magnetic Mounting contains magnets. Magnetic fields may interfere wit t e function of cardiac
pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators. As a general rule, maintain a minimum distance of 6 inc es
(15 centimeters) between any item wit magnets and your eart device.

2.7 Child Safety
T e EyeMobile Plus is an advanced computer system and electronic device. As suc it is composed of numerous
separate, assembled parts. In t e ands of a c ild certain of t ese parts ave t e possibility of being separated from
t e device, possibly constituting a c oking azard or anot er danger to t e c ild.
Young c ildren s ould not ave access to, or use, t e device wit out parental or guardian supervision.
2.8 Do not open EyeMobile Plus
Non-compliance will result in loss of Warranty! T ere are no user serviceable components inside. Contact
Tobii Dynavox Support if your EyeMobile Plus is not working properly.
2.9 Emergency
Do not rely on t e device for emergency calls or banking transactions. We recommend aving multiple ways to com-
municate in emergency situations. Banking transactions s ould only be carried out wit a system recommended by,
and approved according to t e standards of, your bank.
2.10 Windows Control
Some people may experience a certain amount of fatigue (due to intentional eye focusing and ard concentration) or
even a dryness of t e eyes (due to less frequent blinking) w en first getting used to Windows Control. If you are expe-
riencing fatigue or dry eyes start off slowly and limit t e lengt of your Windows Control sessions to your comfort lev-
el. Remoisturizing eye drops can be elpful to combat dryness.
2.11 Third Party
Any use of t e EyeMobile Plus outside t e intended use and toget er wit any t ird party software or ardware t at
c anges t e intended use is a risk and not ing t at Tobii Dynavox can take any responsibility for.
2.12 Environmental Control
T e Programmable IR Remote Control — Environmental Control Unit (ECU) is not to be relied on as t e only met od
of interaction wit IR controlled devices.

3 Getting Started with EyeMobile Plus
3.1 Requirements
For EyeMobile Plus we recommend t e following minimum system requirements:

Never force a connector into a port. If t e connector and port do not join wit reasonable ease, t ey probably do not
matc . Make sure t at t e connector matc es t e port and t at you ave positioned t e connector correctly in relation
to t e port.
Be extra careful wit t e USB connectors.

4 Batteries in the EyeMobile Plus
4.1 Batteries
T e EyeMobile Plus device as one built-in battery. Microsoft Windows gives battery warnings at certain levels. If t e
EyeMobile Plus device is not c arged or powered up by t e power supply, t e EyeMobile Plus device will s ut down automati-
cally. For more information, see Appendix C Technical Specifications, page 20.
4.2 Charging the EyeMobile Plus
1. Connect t e Power cable to t e Power Connector on t e device.
2. Connect t e Power adapter to an electrical outlet and c arge t e tablet until t e battery is fully c arged.
If t e battery c arging level will drop below 5% t e EyeMobile Plus will be c arged over t e USB connection to t e tablet until
t e EyeMobile Plus battery reac es 10% of t e c arging level. Wit t is c arging be avior, t e tablet and EyeMobile Plus will
run out of battery at t e same time.
For battery storage and c arging temperatures, see 2 Safety, page 7 .
4.2.1 C ecking C arge Level
To c eck t e battery c arge level of t e EyeMobile Plus, use t e battery monitor wit in Windows 10.

5 Using EyeMobile Plus
5.1 Positioning the User

T e EyeMobile Plus is designed to work optimally w en it is parallel to t e user’s eyes at a distance from about
45 — 85 cm (18 to 33 inc es), see igure 5.1 Positioning, page 13 or igure 5.2 Positioning for Users Leaning Sideways or
Lying Down, page 13.

T is means t at for t ose users leaning sideways or t ose lying down t e EyeMobile Plus also needs to be tilted in order to keep
t e users eyes parallel to t e screen and at t e optimal distance, see igure 5.2 Positioning for Users Leaning Sideways or Ly-
ing Down, page 13.
Make sure t e user is placed comfortably in relation to t e optimal positioning of, and distance from, t e unit. Be
aware also t at t e user’s comfort, as well as t e Windows Control performance, will be en anced if t e sun is not
s ining directly on t e screen or into t e user’s eyes.
T e optimal distance t at a user s ould be from t e EyeMobile Plus mounted on a monitor/laptop differs depending on t e size
of t e screen. T e user s ould be positioned at t e optimal distance to allow for t e best possible Windows Control.
Generally, t e larger t e size of t e screen, t e greater t e distance t e user s ould be from t e Eye Tracker / Screen combina-
tion for optimal Tobii Dynavox Windows Control usage.
Monitors larger t an up to t e maximum screen size limitation s ould not be used for optimal Tobii Dynavox Windows Control
usage, for more information see Appendix C Technical Specifications, page 20.

6 Settings
6.1 Microphone Settings
T e EyeMobile Plus Microp one array will be set to t e default microp one in Microsoft Windows during installation
of t e Tobii Dynavox Windows Control Software.
You can setup t e built-in microp one array using t e icrosoft Windows Control Panel > Sound > Recording.
We refer to Microsoft’s information on ow to configure t e microp one array in t e Microsoft Windows Control
Panel.
6.2 Switch Settings
T e built in switc ports on t e EyeMobile Plus are intended to be used wit one 3.5 mm switc connected directly to one of
t e two (2) switc ports on t e EyeMobile Plus. T e switc ports are by default configured as "Joystick 1" and “Joystick 2” in
Windows.
T e switc functionality is enabled wit in t e different applicable application software.
1. Connect t e first switc to one of t e switc ports on t e EyeMobile Plus.
2. If two (2) switc es are needed, connect t e second switc to t e second switc port on t e EyeMobile Plus.
6.3 Setup Windows ello
Only works wit Windows 10.
1. Open t e Windows Start menu.
2. Select your Account.
3. Select Change Account Settings.
4. Select Sign-in options.
5. To proceed, set up a PIN code.
6. Select t e Add button under PIN and follow t e next steps.
Once you've done t at t e options to set up Windows Hello will unlock.
7. After successfully selecting a PIN, you’ll be able to select Set Up under Face.
8. If you’d like to get some more detailed background information on Windows Hello select Learn more. Or just select
Get Started to continue.
9. T e camera in t e eye tracker will now elp you position yourself in front of t e screen by s owing a livestream t roug
t e camera. After positioning yourself successfully in front of t e camera, t e face recognition setup will begin
automatically.
10. Once you’ve successfully completed t e set up, an option to Improve Recognition will be available.
T is can be quite useful if you wear glasses as it allows you to be recorded wit or wit out t em.

7 Applicable Application Software
T e EyeMobile Plus as a number of different uses depending on t e user's need and t e application software installed.

8 Product Care
8.1 Temperature & umidity
8.1.1 General Use
T e EyeMobile Plus is best kept in dry conditions at room temperature. T e recommended range for temperature and t e u-
midity value for t e device is as follows:
●Temperature: 10℃to 35℃(50℉to 95℉)
●Humidity: 20% to 80% (relative umidity, no condensation on t e device)
8.1.2 Transportation and Storage
For transportation and storage t e recommended range for temperature and t e umidity value for t e device is as follows:
●Temperature: -20℃to 60℃(-4℉to 140℉)
●Humidity: 20% to 80% (relative umidity, no condensation on t e device)
T e EyeMobile Plus is not waterproof or water resistant. T e device s ould not be kept in excessively umid, damp or ot erwise
wet conditions. Do not submerge t e device in water or in any ot er liquid. Be careful not to allow liquids to be spilled upon t e
device.
8.2 Cleaning
Before cleaning t e EyeMobile Plus device s ut down t e computer to w ic it is attac ed and unplug all cables. Use a soft,
slig tly damp, lint-free clot . Avoid getting moisture in openings on t e device. Don’t use window cleaners, ouse old cleaners,
aerosol sprays, solvents, alco ol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean t e device.
It is recommended t at t e device be cleaned regularly.
8.3 Transporting the EyeMobile Plus
Disconnect t e USB cable and use t e carrying case accessory. T e EyeMobile Plus is relatively fragile and t e filter can be
scratc ed if not properly protected; be sure to take precautions to protect t e device w en it is to be carried and packed.
W en you transport t e device for repair, s ipment or traveling, use t e original casing and packaging materials.
W en t e EyeMobile Plus is attac ed to a monitor/laptop, do not carry t e connected devices by solely gripping t e
EyeMobile Plus. T e EyeMobile Plus will not old t e weig t of t e monitor/laptop, and t e devices could break apart
and fall, or topple and fall because of misbalanced weig t, causing permanent damage to bot . Tobii Dynavox will not
be eld liable for t e resulting damage.
8.4 Disposing of the EyeMobile Plus
Do not dispose of t e EyeMobile Plus in general ouse old or office waste. Follow your local regulations for t e disposal of
electrical and electronic equipment.

For support, please contact your local representative or Tobii Dynavox Support. In order to receive assistance as quickly as
possible, make sure you ave access to your EyeMobile Plus and, if possible, an Internet connection. You s ould also be able to
supply t e serial number of t e device, w ic you find on t e back of t e device. Find our Support pages online at: www.
tobiidynavox.com or www.myTobiiDynavox.com.
A2 Warranty
Please read t e Manufacturer’s Warranty paper included in t e package.
Please read t is User’s Manual carefully before using t e device. T e warranty is only valid if t e device is used according to t e
User’s Manual. Disassembling t e EyeMobile Plus device will void t e warranty.
It is recommended to keep t e original packaging materials for t e EyeMobile Plus.
If device needs to be returned to Tobii Dynavox for Warranty related issues or repair, it is beneficial t at t e original
packaging or equal equivalent is used for s ipping. Most s ipping carriers require at least 2 inc es of packing
material around t e device.
Please note: Due to Joint Commission regulations, any s ipping materials including boxes sent to Tobii Dynavox
must be discarded.

T e EyeMobile Plus is CE-marked, indicating compliance wit t e essential ealt and safety requirements
set out in European Directives..
B1 FCC Statement
T is device complies wit Part 15 of t e FCC Rules. Operation is subject to t e following two conditions: (1) t is device may
not cause armful interference, and (2) t is device must accept any interference received, including interference t at may cause
undesired operation.
Modifications not expressly approved by Tobii Dynavox could void t e user’s aut ority to operate t e equipment
under FCC rules.
T is equipment as been tested and found to comply wit t e limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of t e FCC
Rules. T ese limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against armful interference in a residential installation. T is
equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance wit t e
instructions, may cause armful interference to radio communications.
However, t ere is no guarantee t at interference will not occur in a particular installation. If t is equipment does cause armful
interference to radio or television reception, w ic can be determined by turning t e equipment off and on, t e user is
encouraged to try to correct t e interference by one or more of t e following measures:
●Reorient or relocate t e receiving antenna.
●Increase t e separation between t e equipment and receiver.
●Connect t e equipment into a wall outlet on a circuit different from t at to w ic t e receiver is connected.
●Consult t e dealer or experienced radio/TV tec nician for assistance.
