The Tobii Dynavox T7, T10,T10+ an T15 are integrate har ware an software solutions for Augmentative an Alternative
Communication (AAC), a purpose built Speech Generating Device (SGD), which feature theCompass communication
software.
This User’s Manual provi es an overview of the basic operation of your T7, T10,T10+ an T15 An roi tablets. It points out
key har ware features an escribes the most frequently-use features an functions of your evice.
1.1 Explanation of Admonitions
In this manual we use five (5) levels of a monitions as follows:

1.3 Intended Use
The T-Series evices are inten e for use as an augmentative communication ai , computer access, an environmental control
unit for those with speech, language, physical, an cognitive isabilities. Their inten e purpose is to compensate for lack of
speech ue to injury or han icap, an to provi e a means of controlling the environment for persons who are unable to reach
environmental control equipment ue to injury or han icap. The evice is accessible via touchscreen, keyboar , mouse/track-
ball, switch, an hea tracking. T-Series evices are transit-operable equipment. During use, the T-Series evices may be
place on a flat surface, or mounte using an approve mount.
Your T-Series evice is inten e for every ay communication situations. It shoul not be relie upon as a means of communi-
cating emergency me ical information. We recommen having multiple ways to communicate information uring a me ical
emergency.

The Compass User’s Manual is an intro uctory reference to the Compass software running on your T-Series evice. It in-
clu es basic step-by-step instructions for selecting a pageset an access metho , customizing the software for your user, mo -
ifying an e iting pages, creating new pages, using the camera, programming the Remote Manager, an backing up an
restoring.
On your evice, open the Settings menu. Then select Help > Compass User’s Manual.

2 Safety
The T-Series evice has been teste an approve as compliant to all the Specifications an Stan ar s liste in Appendix B
Compliance Information, page 22 of this manual an in the Appendix C Technical Specifications, page 27 -- inclu ing, but not
limite to, the Me ical Device Stan ar (Class 1/Type B). In or er to ensure safe operation of your T-Series evice, there are a
few safety warnings to bear in min :
The patient is an inten e operator an may safely use all evice functions available from the evice software.
Separate power supply (a aptor) is specifie as a part of the pro uct.
The whole appliance (exclu ing a aptor) is the applie part.
Expecte service life: 5 years
This unit has been thoroughly teste an inspecte to assure proper performance an operation.
The T-Series evice may be mounte to a wheelchair or fixe on a table.
No modification of this equipment is allowed
Place your T-Series evice in a stable area an supervise chil ren an pets while they are in the vicinity of the
T-Series evice. To prevent strangulation, o not play with cables. Keep small parts, such as the etachable cover of
the USB port, out of reach of chil ren an animals that may inhale or swallow them.
Young chil ren or people with intellectual isabilities shoul be supervise while using the T-Series evice.
Care shoul be taken to avoi excessive irt an ust that coul cause unreliable operation. Do not place your
T-Series evice in bright sunlight for long perio s, near fireplaces, ra iant heaters, steam kettles, or nebulizers, to
avoi potential overheating or amage to the evice.
Your T-Series evice requires little maintenance other than charging the battery an a perio ic inspection of the
power cor s for signs of wear an amage. If the power cor s show signs of wear an amage, they shoul be re-
place . Regular preventive inspection an maintenance shoul be performe .
The patient may clean the exterior of the evice as specifie in 6.3 Product Cleaning Handling. All other maintenance
an repairs must be one by a certifie technician.
Turn off the evice an isconnect cables an accessories prior to cleaning, service, or maintenance. Do not clean,
service, or maintain the evice while it is in use.
Tobii Dynavox will provi e circuit iagrams, component part lists, escriptions, an calibration instructions to assist
authorize service personnel in parts repair.
Your evice contains a Lithium Ion battery. A safety hazar may evelop when the battery is place in or near fires or
stoves, or in locations with temperatures above 113 ℉/ 45 ℃. These con itions may cause the battery to generate
heat or explo e.
Do not perforate, isassemble or mo ify the battery. If you must ispose of the battery, o so in accor ance with the
local laws that apply to the area where you live.

Do not open the enclosure, stretch the openings, or touch the camera an the inner circuit.
This T-Series evice presents a risk of electrical shock if the casing is opene . Do not open the casing that surroun s
the evice.
Do not use the evice uring thun er or electrical storms. There is a risk of electric shock an amage to the evice.
During storms, shut own an unplug the evice.
Do not put the evice screen or charging in icator light close to your eyes. Doing so coul result in amage to the
eyes.
If the screen is uncomfortable to look at, turn own the screen brightness or power off the evice.
When connecting hea phones to the evice, ensure that the evice volume is set low in or er to protect the ears
from potential harm.
The evice can only be connecte with other accessories an equipment which has been approve to be use safely
without anger of high voltage. Use of unapprove accessories may result in electric shock.
Your T-Series evice is not suitable for use in the presence of flammable anesthetics or other combustible materials
such as fuels an chemicals.
Do not charge, power on, or use the evice near combustible fuels or chemicals, such as at a gas station.
Your T-Series evice conforms to IP22. IP22 explanation: the first igit [2] in icates the level of protection that the en-
closure provi es against access to hazar ous parts [e.g. electrical con uctors, moving parts] ,an the ingress of for-
eign objects. Level 2 provi es protection to an object >12.5 mm [fingers or similar objects]. The secon igit [2]
in icates the level of protection that the enclosure provi es against harmful ingress of water. Vertically ripping water
shall have no harmful effect when the enclosure is tilte at an angle up to 15 egrees from its normal position.
You T-Series charger conforms to IP21. IP21 explanation: the first igit [2] in icates the level of protection that the
enclosure provi es against access to hazar ous parts [e.g. electrical con uctors, moving parts] ,an the ingress of
foreign objects. Level 2 provi es protection to an object >12.5 mm [fingers or similar objects]. The secon igit [1] in-
icates the level of protection that the enclosure provi es against harmful ingress of water. It is protecte from
con ensation.
When you are charging your T-Series evice, remember that the main outlet that you will be using to power the a apt-
er must be accessible from within 6 feet (2 meters) of the evice. There shoul be no switches or isconnect evices
in the groun con uctor.
The plug of the power a apter is use as the isolation means from mains. Do not position the evice in such a way
that the plug is ifficult to isconnect.

Running the T-Series evice for a long time may cause the temperature to temporarily rise to above 105 ℉/ 41 ℃.
Please power off the T-Series evice if it is overheating. Do not hol an overheating evice in your han s; place it on
a har , heat-resistant surface in an area with air flow to allow heat to issipate.
The e ge of the isplay can reach temperatures of up to 49℃/120℉. To prevent burns, o not touch the e ge of the
isplay for longer than 1 minute continuously.
The touch screen can reach temperatures of up to 46℃/115℉. To prevent burns, o not touch the screen in excess
of 10 minutes continuously.

The use of accessories, trans ucers an cables other than those specifie , with the exception of trans ucers an ca-
bles sol by Tobii Dynavox as replacement parts for internal components, may result in increase emissions or e-
crease immunity of the me equipment or me system.
Because of internal chemical reactions, battery performance may eteriorate over time. In a ition, failure to keep the
con itions of use (charge, ischarge, ambient temperature, etc.) within specifie ranges may shorten the battery life
expectancy, or amage your T-Series evice. If the battery cannot maintain a charge for long perio s of time, even
when it is charge correctly, it may nee to be replace .
The battery nee s to be replace every 12 to 18 months with typical use.
For safe an proper operation of your T-Series evice, use only chargers, batteries, an accessories that have been
approve by Tobii Dynavox.
Never, un er any circumstances, isassemble your T-Series evice. Doing so for any reason will voi the warranty,
an you will be responsible for the cost of any require repairs.

4 Turning the T-Series On for the First
Time
Press the Power button to turn on your evice. The Compass software will start automatically.
The Setup Wizard screen will open.
Setup Wizar Screen
The Setup Wizar will walk you through the steps to choose an appropriate page set an start communicating.
See the Compass User’s Manual for step-by-step instructions on using the Compass software running on your
T-Series evice.
4.1 Troubleshooting
If the evice oes not turn on when you press the Power button, connect the power supply cable to your evice, then plug the
power supply into an outlet. Press the Power button to turn on the evice. Keep the evice plugge in until the battery has fully
charge .
If the Compass software oes not start automatically when you turn on your evice, select the Compass Icon on the esktop to
launch it manually.
If the evice software stops respon ing uring use, press an hol the Power button until the evice turns off. Press the Power
button to turn the evice on again.
If you are unable to hear soun coming from the evice speakers, first unplug hea phones or external speakers that may be at-
tache to the evice. Then, press the + si e of the volume rocker switch several times.

5 Charging the Battery
When the battery charge is low, the evice will emit an au ible beep. You shoul plug in your T-Series evice an recharge the
battery imme iately. If you are unable to plug in an recharge the battery, the evice will shut own when the battery has com-
pletely lost charge. Save any open changes in your software before evice shut own, as unsave changes will be lost if the e-
vice must shut own ue to loss of power.
1. Plug the charger supplie with your T-Series evice into a wall outlet.
2. Connect the charger to the charger port on the T-Series evice.
The charging in icator will glow amber while your T-Series evice is charging. It will turn blue when it is fully charge .
3. After your T-Series evice is fully charge , isconnect the charger.
You can’t overcharge the battery. It is fine to charge the battery overnight.
You can use the T-Series evice while the battery is charging.
The low battery alarm in icates approximately 20 to 60 minutes of operating time remaining, epen ing on battery age an sys-
tem use.
The battery icon in the status bar isplays the approximate charge remaining on the battery.
A battery charge lasts for a minimum of 8 hours of continuous use or 20 hours on stan by.

5.1 rolonging the T-Series Battery Life — Do’s and Don’ts
●Do use the battery. It is goo to allow the evice to run on the battery until the first low battery warning, which will hap-
pen at about 14% remaining battery charge. When you hear the low battery warning, plug in the evice an allow it to
charge to 100%. You can continue working with the evice or shut it own while it is charging.
●Do let the evice charge until the battery power in icator light turns blue. Complete ischarge to full charge cycles keep
the evice running the longest possible time on battery power.
●Don’t run the evice continually on the charger. If you use a mobile power supply with your evice, then you shoul un-
plug the power supply from the evice every few ays an allow the battery to exercise.
●Don’t store the evice for prolonge perio s of time without use/recharge. If you must store the evice, the battery
shoul be fully charge an the evice powere off (not in sleep mo e). We recommen never storing the evice for
more than 3 months. After 3 months of storage the battery will nee to be completely cycle an charge until the bat-
tery in icator light turns blue.

6.3 roduct Cleaning/Handling
