Safety
•Tomaintainmachinecontrolandimprovethestability
ofthemachine,mount34kg(75lb)ofweightonthe
left,frontwheelofthetractionunitbeforeusingthis
kit.RefertothetractionunitOperator’sManualforany
additionalweightrequirements.
•Stayawayfromthehopperandthehopperlinkageduring
operation.
•Neveroperatethecollectionsystemwiththehopper
coversopen.
•Grasscatchercomponentsaresubjecttowear,damage,
anddeterioration,whichcouldexposemovingparts
orallowobjectstobethrown.Frequentlycheckthe
componentsandreplacethemwithmanufacturer’s
recommendedparts,whennecessary.
•Stoptheenginebeforeremovingthegrasscatcheror
uncloggingthechute.
•Beforeraisingthehopper:
–Ensurethatthemachineisonlevelground.
–DisengagethePTO.
–Clearbystandersfromtheareaaroundthehopper
andthehopperlinkage.
–Checktheoverheadclearance.
•Donotdumptheclippingsoveranembankment.
•Lowerthehopperfullybeforedrivingthemachine.
•Thegrasscatchercanobstructtheviewtotherear.Use
extracarewhenoperatingthemachineinreverse.
•Ifyouremovethegrasscatcher,besuretotheinstallany
dischargedeectororguardthatyoumighthaveremoved
toinstallthegrasscatcher.Donotoperatethemower
withouteithertheentiregrasscatcherorgrassdeector
inplace.
•Beforedisconnectingorperforminganyworkonthe
hydraulicsystem,relieveallthepressureinthesystem
bystoppingtheengineandloweringtheimplementto
theground.
•Useextracarewithgrasscatchersorotherattachments.
Thesecanchangetheoperatingcharacteristicsandthe
stabilityofthemachine.
•Donotuseagrasscatcheronsteepslopes.Aheavy
grasscatchercouldcauselossofcontroloroverturnthe
machine.
•Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Besureto
travelintherecommendeddirectiononhillsides.Turf
conditionscanaffectthestabilityofthemachine.Use
extremecautionwhileoperatingneardrop-offs.
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachineinto
atrailerortruck.Ifthemachineistobedrivenonto
atruckortrailerwithafullhopper,alwaysmoveitin
reverseuptheramp.
•Donotwalkunderthehopperorservicethemachine
unlessthehopperisfullyraisedandempty,withhydraulic
linesdisconnectedatthequickcouplersorthehopper
fullylowered.
•Donotremoveanyhydrauliclineunlessthehopperis
fullyloweredorfullyraisedandempty.
•Ensurethatallhydrauliclineconnectorsaretightandthat
allhydraulichosesandlinesareingoodconditionbefore
applyingpressuretothesystem.
•Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompin-holeleaksor
nozzlesthatejecthydraulicuidunderhighpressure.
Usepaperorcardboard,notyourhands,tosearchfor
leaks.Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecanhave
sufcientforcetopenetratetheskinanddoserious
damage.Ifuidisejectedintotheskin,itmustbe
surgicallyremovedwithinafewhoursbyadoctorfamiliar
withthisformofinjuryorgangrenemayresult.

inch)(ToroPartNumber325-18)andthe4nuts(1/2
inch)includedinthekit.Thesuppliedwheelweight
willcontacttherearcastorwheelonthedeck,ifitis
installed.
Operation
Note:Determinetheleftandrightsidesofthemachine
fromthenormaloperatingposition.
BeforeOperatingtheHopper
1.Starttheengine.
2.Raiseandlowerthehopperseveraltimesbymoving
thecontrol-valveleverforwardtolowerthehopper
andmovingtheleverrearwardtoraisethehopper.
3.Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitchasfollows:
•RaisethehopperandengagethePTOswitchwhile
theengineisrunning.Theengineshouldstop
within2seconds.Iftheenginestops,theswitchis
operatingcorrectly;proceedtonextstep.Ifthe
enginedoesnotstop,thereisamalfunctioninthe
interlocksystem.
•Raisethehopperandpressthetractionpedal
whiletheengineisrunningandthePTOlever
isdisengaged.Theengineshouldstopwithin2

•Neveroperatethemachinewithoutthegrass
collectorordeectorinplace.
•Neverplaceyourhandsorfeetinornearachute,
blower,orcuttingunit.
Forthebestperformance,regulatethetractionpedaltokeep
theenginespeedhighandconstant.Agoodruletofollowis
todecreasethegroundspeedastheloadonthecuttingblade
increases;andincreasethegroundspeedastheloadonthe
bladedecreases.Thisallowstheengine,whichisworking
withthetransmission,tosensethepropergroundspeed
whilemaintaininghighblade-tipspeednecessaryforgood
quality-of-cut,vacuumingaction,andthrowinggrassintothe
hopper.Iftheblowerspeeddropstoolow,pluggingmay
result.RefertothecuttingunitandtractionunitsOperator’s
Manualfortheoperationofeach.
Important:Usecaretoavoidacollisionbetweenthe
hopperandanystationaryobjects.Alwaystrimwiththe
leftsideofthecuttingunit.
•Inateallthetiresonthetractionunitto124to137kPa
(18to20psi).
•Thisgrasscollectorisdesignedforuseinwetordry
conditions.Donotcollectextremelylonggrassasthe
hopperwilllltooquickly.
•Whencollectingwet,heavygrass,someclippingsmaynot
bethrowncompletelythroughthechute.Theholeinthe
bottomofthechuteallowstheseclippingstodropout
withoutpluggingthechute.Whenthishappens,reduce
thegroundspeed.
•Thebumper,whichprotectstheblowerhousing,doesn’t
extendfarenoughtopreventthechanceofthehopperor
hopperframefromstrikingastationaryobject.Stayfar
enoughawayfromobstructionstoavoidcollisions.Trim
withtheleftsideofthecuttingunitonly.
•Whileoperatingthebagger,checkfrequentlyfor
excessiveclippingsleftontheturforuncutgrass.If
thoseconditionsoccur,theblowerorcuttingunitmaybe
plugged.Stopthemachine,disengagethePTO,setthe
brake,andstoptheengine.Checkforobstructionsinthe
chute,blowerorcuttingunit.Clearanyobstructionusing
astickorsimilartool.Checkthetensionontheblower
belt.Ifthebeltisslipping,adjustit.
•Thegrass-collectorhopperisdesignedtoexhaustair
besidethechute.Thisallowsthehoppertollcompletely
withoutdecreasingperformance.Grasswillfallthrough
theopeninginthefrontofthehopperwhenhopperis
full.Immediatelydisengagethepowertakeoffandempty
thehopper.
•Cutthegrassoften,especiallywhentheturfgrowthis
rapid.Ifyoudesireshorterturf,cutthegrassagain.
Overlaptheswathstoproduceanevencuttingpattern.
Important:Whentransportingthemachine,set
thehopperinthedownpositionwiththerearcover
latchedoverthelargecover.
RemovingtheHopperand
Frame
1.Stopthemachine,disengagethePTO,setthebrake,
andstoptheengine.
2.Movethehopper-control-valveleverforwardand
reverseafewtimestoreleasethepressureinthe
hydraulicsystem.
3.Disconnectthequickcouplersonthehydraulicline.
4.Removethe2hairpincotterssecuringthetierodsto
theframe.
5.Removethe2weldedmountingpinsandhairpin
cotterssecuringthehoppertotheframe.
6.Removethehopperfromtheframe.
7.Disconnectthewireharnessfromtheswitchonthe
hopperframeorseatandremoveitfromthetraction
unit.
Note:Keeptheharnesswiththehopper.
Note:Thehopperframeisheavy.Supporttheframe
whenremovingitorhaveahelperassistyou.
8.Removethedisconnectpinsecuringtherearofthe
frametothemachine.
9.Slidetheframeoffthemachine.

greasable),bedknives,sparkplugs,castorwheelsandbearings,tires,
lters,belts,andcertainsprayercomponentssuchasdiaphragms,
nozzles,andcheckvalves,etc.
•Failurescausedbyoutsideinuence.Conditionsconsideredtobe
outsideinuenceinclude,butarenotlimitedto,weather,storage
practices,contamination,useofunapprovedfuels,coolants,lubricants,
additives,fertilizers,water,orchemicals,etc.
•Failureorperformanceissuesduetotheuseoffuels(e.g.gasoline,
diesel,orbiodiesel)thatdonotconformtotheirrespectiveindustry
standards.
•Normalnoise,vibration,wearandtear,anddeterioration.
•Normal“wearandtear”includes,butisnotlimitedto,damagetoseats
duetowearorabrasion,wornpaintedsurfaces,scratcheddecalsor
windows,etc.

Partsscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenancearewarranted
fortheperiodoftimeuptothescheduledreplacementtimeforthatpart.
Partsreplacedunderthiswarrantyarecoveredforthedurationofthe
originalproductwarrantyandbecomethepropertyofT oro.T orowillmake
thenaldecisionwhethertorepairanyexistingpartorassemblyorreplace
it.T oromayuseremanufacturedpartsforwarrantyrepairs.
DeepCycleandLithium-IonBatteryWarranty:
DeepcycleandLithium-Ionbatterieshaveaspeciedtotalnumberof
kilowatt-hourstheycandeliverduringtheirlifetime.Operating,recharging,
andmaintenancetechniquescanextendorreducetotalbatterylife.Asthe
batteriesinthisproductareconsumed,theamountofusefulworkbetween
chargingintervalswillslowlydecreaseuntilthebatteryiscompletelyworn
out.Replacementofwornoutbatteries,duetonormalconsumption,
istheresponsibilityoftheproductowner.Batteryreplacementmaybe
requiredduringthenormalproductwarrantyperiodatowner’sexpense.

NeitherTheToroCompanynorToroWarrantyCompanyisliablefor
indirect,incidentalorconsequentialdamagesinconnectionwiththe
useoftheToroProductscoveredbythiswarranty,includingany
costorexpenseofprovidingsubstituteequipmentorserviceduring
reasonableperiodsofmalfunctionornon-usependingcompletion
ofrepairsunderthiswarranty.ExceptfortheEmissionswarranty
referencedbelow,ifapplicable,thereisnootherexpresswarranty.All
impliedwarrantiesofmerchantabilityandtnessforusearelimitedto
thedurationofthisexpresswarranty.
Somestatesdonotallowexclusionsofincidentalorconsequential
damages,orlimitationsonhowlonganimpliedwarrantylasts,sotheabove
