Note:Determinetheleftandrightsidesofthe
machinefromthenormaloperatingposition.
SettingtheHeightofCut
Youcansettheheightofcutofthemowerfrom1/2to
5-1/2inches(12.7mmto140mm)asfollows:
1.Stoptheengineandallowallmovingpartstostop.
2.Whilefacingthemowerfromthefront,releasethe
turnbucklelock(Figure2).

CAUTION

Removethekeyfromtheignitionanddisconnectthewirefromthesparkplugbeforeyoudoany
maintenance.Setthewireasidesothatitdoesnotaccidentallycontactthesparkplug.

Beforecarryingoutanyinspectionormaintenance,
completethefollowing:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagethe
bladesandsettheparkingbrake.
2.TurntheignitionkeytotheOffpositionandremove
thekey.
3.Disconnectthesparkplugwiresfromthespark
plugs.

Greaseallttings(Figure4)withNo.2generalpurpose
lithiumbasedgreaseormolybdenumbasegrease,after
every50hoursofoperation.Cleaneachgreasetting
witharagandpumpgreaseintothettinguntilasmall
amountbeginstooozeoutofthebearings.Wipeup
anyexcessgrease.
Note:Youwillneedtoremovesomeofthemachine
guardstoreachallofthegreasettings.Replacethe
guardswhennished.

hole(Figure5).Ifthebladeisexcessivelywornor
damagedreplacetheblade.Toensureasuperiorquality
ofcut,keepthebladessharp.

Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,andapiece
ofthebladecouldbethrownintotheoperator’s
orbystander’sarea,resultinginseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.

4.Checkthebelttension.
Thepropermowerbelttensionis4.5lb(2kg)of
forcetodeectthebelt1/2inch(13mm)atthe
midpointofthelongestspan(Figure10).
Adjustthetensionasfollows:
A.Loosenthelocknut(Figure10)
B.Turntheadjustingnuttoincreaseordecrease
thetensioninthebelt.
C.Tightenthelocknut.

drivebeltforwearordamage.
Visuallyinspectthebelt(Figure11),lookingfordirt,
wear,cracks,andsignsofoverheating.Ifbeltis
excessivelywornorshowsanysignsofdamage,replace
thebelt.
Note:Figure11showsthebeltviewedfromunderneath
butthebeltcanbechecked,adjustedorreplacedfrom
eitherthetoporthebottomaftertheremovalofthe
relevantguard.

Toreplacethebelt,completethefollowingprocedure,
referringtoFigure11throughout:
1.Removetheidlerpulleyandthewornbelt.
2.Installthenewbeltwiththeidlerpulley.
3.Engagetheblade(PTO)leverandcheckthebelt
tension.
Thepropermowerbelttensionis10lb(4.5kg)of
forcetodeectthebelt1/2inch(13mm)atthe
midpointofthelongestspan(Figure11).
Important:Thebeltmustbetightenoughto
notslipduringheavyloadswhilecuttinggrass.
Overtensioningthebeltwillreducethegearbox,
belt,andidlerpulleylife.
Adjustthetensionasfollows:
A.Loosenthelocknut(Figure11)
B.Rotatetheturnbuckle.Increasethelength
betweentheeyeboltstoaddmoretensioninto
thebeltordecreasethelengthtodecreasethe
tensioninthebelt.
C.Tightenthelocknut.

2.Removetheplugfromthegearboxllholeand
checktheoillevel(Figure12).
Theoilshouldbeevenwiththebottomofthell
