1.Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Toshiba industrial inverter “TOSVERT VF-A7/P7”.
This manual functionally describes the light-load high-speed operation of our "TOSVERT VF-A7/P7" for
industrial use.
2.Function
This parameter provides a function of more raising the speed of motor during light load to improve the
operating efficiency of machine.
It is effectively applicable to elevators and conveyers under constant-torque loads with alternated light and
heavy loads.

4.Operation
Typical examples of light-load high-speed operation are first described.
The following figure is a timing chart in case of using the automatic mode of light-load high-speed operation
(F330=2):
Example: Automatic mode of light-load high-speed operation (F330=2): Forward run
The judgement of light load or heavy load shall be performed using the absolute value of torque current.
Light-load detection shall be performed when the operation frequency is light-load high-speed operation switching
lower limit frequency (F331) or higher after the speed is achieved.
Heavy load detection or the input of directed speed value less than light-load high-speed operation switching
lower limit frequency (F331) during high-speed operation cancels high-speed operation, returning to the directed
speed frequency operation.

4.1. Mode description
In case of using the light-load high-speed operation function, the light-load high-speed operation mode shall be
determined at first.
There are five kinds of modes, to be selected with F330 (light-load high-speed operation selection).
Select the desired mode according to the following flowchart:

4.1.1. Description of F330=1 or 6 (user interface) operation
Light-load high-speed operation can be performed by returning the light-load detection signal to the input terminal
as preset-speed data when light-load high-speed operation selection F330=1 or 6 (user interface) is set. However,
in case of user interface, because of frequency during light-load high-speed operation being the input frequency,
high-speed operation will not be stopped even if the directed speed value is set to the switching frequency or less. If
you want to stop high-speed operation with the directed speed value, use the enabled-terminal effective preset-
speed mode (F330=5 or 10).
An example of returning the light-load detection signal to the input terminal S4 (connecting the light-load detection
signal output to the preset-speed command 4) is described as follows:

4.1.2. Operation with F330=2, 4, 7 or 9 (automatic mode)
It is a mode of light-load high-speed operation with automatic light-load high-speed operation frequency (F341)
when light-load high-speed operation selection F330=2, 4, 7 or 9 (automatic mode) is set.
F330=2 or 7 : Continuous automatic mode
F330=4 or 9 : Enabled-terminal effective automatic mode
F330=4 or 9 is the setting of 2 or 7 plus the enabling signal of light-load high-speed operation function.
The following example indicates the enabling signal assigned to S4 terminal:
In case of using no light-load high-speed operation enabling signal (F330=2 or 7), the operation is under
continuously-enabled condition, which is the same as the operation during S4 terminal continuously ON in the
above chart.
When the enabling sinal is turned OFF during light-load high-speed operation, light-load high-speed operation will
be stopped, to operate with the directed normal speed value.
In case of OFF input, heavy load detection will be stopped, to start constant-speed load judgement after light-load
high-speed operation load waiting time, which commences a measurement when the directed speed value is
achieved.

4.1.3. Operation with F330=3, 5, 8 or 10 (preset-speed mode)
When light-load high-speed operation selection F330=3, 5, 8 or 10 (preset-speed mode) is set, a light-load
detection internally turns ON the preset-speed command 4. Therefore, during light-load detection, operation shall
be performed with the preset-speed frequencies of 8~15. At this time, the input terminal S4 can independently be
used as a normal function-assigned terminal.
Because of the directed speed value being the input preset-speed command, high-speed operation will be stopped
if the input preset-speed operation frequency is set to less than light-load high-speed operation switching lower limit
frequency (F331).
F330=3 or 8 : Continuous preset-speed mode
F330=5 or 10 : Enabled-terminal effective preset-speed mode
F330=5 or 10 is the setting of 3 plus the enabling signal of light-load high-speed operation function.
The following example of F330=5 or 10 indicates the enabling signal assigned to S4 terminal:
