EN-1
Welcome to the family!
You’ve made the right decision — get ready for the ride of your life! An electric bicycle (call it an
e-bike to sound hip) is like a regular bicycle, but with more pedaling power. A lot more.
“Isn’t an e-bike cheating?”
Heck no! You’re going to ride farther than you ever have. All with a smile on your face. You know that
hill you’ve been avoiding? Now you can conquer it! An e-bike is not easy to ride, just easier.
About this guide
This quick start guide shows you the basic operation of the e-bike system. Learn how to charge the
battery, connect your phone, and what all those numbers mean.
A few things before we get started
1. Start slow
We know — fast is fun. But e-bikes take a bit of getting used to. It may be tempting to ramp it up
to the fastest setting right away, but we recommend taking it nice and easy the rst few rides.
Start on the lowest assist level and get a feel for the new boost.
2. Brake sooner, brake slowly
E-bikes are heavier than normal bikes, and they move faster. More power, more speed, more
weight. Once you get moving, you’ll need more time to react. You should start slowing down
sooner than you would on a normal bike. Don’t just grab your front brake lever — brake with
both front and rear evenly.
3. You’re faster than you look
E-bikes look just like regular bikes, so people might not expect you to be riding as fast as you
are. Until everyone is accustomed to the look and speed of e-bikes, ride with extra care and pay
attention to your surroundings.
4. All bike rules still apply
While your new e-bike will bring you a new level of freedom and fun, you’re still responsible for
knowing and following all the rules of the road (trails and paths too). Have fun out there!

Care for your battery and e-bike
Below are a few special warnings to keep you and your bike safe. Consult the comprehensive
e-bike manual at trekbikes.com/manuals for a full list of warnings.
Install accessories carefully
Consult with a certied e-bike technician before installing accessories. Using
the wrong bolt in the wrong place could cause a short circuit in the electrical
system and/or damage the battery which might lead to over-heating. A battery
that has been severely impacted could catch re. If you suspect damage
to your battery, visit your local bike shop immediately to have the battery
inspected.
Transport your e-bike safely
An e-bike is heavier than most bikes. Overloading a vehicle bike rack can result in death or
serious injury. Refer to your vehicle bicycle rack manual to make sure it’s compatible with your
e-bike.
Store the battery and bike properly
• Store your e-bike (or battery) in a dry, ventilated location that is away from moisture, heat
sources, and combustible or easily ammable objects.
• Do not store the bike or battery connected to the charger.
• Long-term storage: If you aren’t going to ride the bike for three months or more, keep the
battery charged above 30%. The battery can be damaged by a deep discharge (storing
completely empty).
• Temperature guidelines: Follow the temperature ranges below. Riding the bike or storing the
battery outside of these ranges could damage the battery, affect its performance, or cause
the battery to catch re.
◦ Storage range ≥ 10 °C (50 °F) — ≤ 40 °C (104 °F)
◦ Operating range ≥ -5 °C (23 °F) — ≤ 40 °C (104 °F)
◦ Charging range ≥ 0 °C (32 °F) — ≤ 40 °C (104 °F)
Wash your e-bike gently
Do not submerge your e-bike or the components in water or wash them with a high-pressure
hose. Water could contact the electrical system and damage it.
Do not modify or access the e-bike drive system
Never open any parts of the electrical system. Always contact your local bike shop to service any
parts of the electrical system. Any unauthorized modication (or tampering) of your bike’s drive
system is prohibited.
Recycle the battery properly
Batteries must not be disposed of in your normal waste stream. Consult local regulations on how
to dispose of the battery or contact your local bike shop.
