01. Ausstattungsmerkmale
• Dieser Lichtmesser ist ein sehr kompaktes und leichtes
Messgerät - es ist sehr einfach in der Bedienung.
• 3,5 Zoll LCD-Monitor mit LUX, fc, Low Battery-Anzeige,
MAX-Anzeige
• Genaue Messwerte als Lux oder fc dargestellt [fc = foot
candle = Maßeinheit, die vorwiegend in der Fotografie
und der Film- und Lichtindustrie verwendet wird].
Umrechnung: 1fc=10,764 Lux / 1 lux=0,0929fc
• Messungen von 0 bis 40000 Lux/ fc in 4 Messbereichen
mit einer Auflösung von 0,1Lux/fc
• Automatische Messbereichsauswahl: Der angezeigte
Wert wird nach Bedarf (falls der anzuzeigende Wert über
2000 steigt) mit 10 oder 100 multipliziert.

• Max-Funktion
• Automatische Hintergrundbeleuchtung (schaltet sich au-
tomatisch bei schlechten Lichtverhältnissen ein)
• Abschaltautomatik (Auto Off)
Ein Standortwechsel von kalten zu warmen Umge-
bungsbedingungen (und umgekehrt) kann zu Kon-
densatbildung auf der Messelektronik des Gerätes
führen. Dieser physikalische Effekt, der sich kon-
struktionsseitig bei keinem Messgerät verhindern
lässt, führt zu Messwertabweichungen. In Abhän-
gigkeit der Höhe der Temperaturdifferenzen benö-
tigt das Gerät eine „Akklimatisierungszeit“ von ca.
15 - 30 Minuten, bevor der Messvorgang fortgesetzt
werden kann.

4. Sensor für die Hintergrundbeleuchtung: Das Messgerät
reagiert sehr empfindlich auf Veränderungen des Umge-
bungslichtes. Die Hintergrundbeleuchtung schaltet sich auto-
matisch bei schlechten Lichtverhältnissen zu und anschlie-
ßend wieder aus, wenn das Licht heller wird.
5. Automatische Messbereichsauswahl: x10 bedeutet, dass
die Lichtstärke im 20k Lux-Bereich liegt und die Messwerte
mal 10 multipliziert werden müssen. x100 bedeutet, dass
die Lichtstärke im 40k Lux-Bereich liegt und dass die Mess-
werte mal 100 multipliziert werden müssen. Ist der
Messwert während der Messrate (2,5 mal pro Sekunde)
stabil und kann einem Messwert inklusive Dezimal-
stelle zugewiesen werden, so erscheint der Messwert
als Zahl mit der ersten Nachkommastelle, wie z.B. 223,4
Lux. Die Anzeige mit einer Dezimalstelle erfolgt in allen
4 Lux-Messbereichen und den 4 fc (foot-candle) Mess-
bereichen

1. Drücken Sie die Ein/Aus-Taste, um eine normale Mes-
sung durchzuführen.

2. Halten Sie den Photodetektor möglichst im 90° Winkel
zur Lichtquelle.
3. Der Helligkeitswert wird auf dem Display angezeigt.
Die Hintergrundbeleuchtung schaltet sich bei schlech-
ten Lichtverhältnissen automatisch zu.
4. Der Messbereich ändert sich automatisch je nach Lichtin-
tensität. Der Messbereich beeinhaltet 4 Lux-Messbereiche
(200 Lux, 2000 Lux, 20 KLux und 40 KLux) und 4 FC-Mess-
bereiche (20 FC, 200 FC, 2000 FC oder 4000 FC).
5. Drücken Sie die Taste 2 kurz; der Maximalwert wird
angezeigt. Drücken Sie die Taste erneut kurz, um wieder
in den normalen Messmodus zu gelangen.
6. Halten Sie die Taste 2 ca. 2 Sekunden lang gedrückt,
um zwischen LUX und fc zu wechseln.
7. Messbereichsüberschreitung: Wenn die Buchstaben “OL”
bzw. „VO“ im Display erscheinen ist das Input-Signal zu
stark (>40KLux).
8. Nehmen Sie nach Beendigung des Messvorganges den
Photodetektor aus dem Bereich der Lichtquelle.


Spektrale Empfindlichkeitsmerkmale:
Das folgende Diagramm zeigt, dass die Photodiode mit Filtern die
Anforderungen der CIE (International Commission on Illumination
= Internationale Kommission für Beleuchtung), mit Hinblick auf die
spektrale Empfindlichkeit und die Photopia Kurve V (λ) erfüllt.
Die spektrale Empfindlichkeitsfunktion gibt an, wie groß die An-
zahl der eingestrahlten Lichtquanten (pro cm² und sec) bei jeder
Wellenlänge sein muss, damit das Licht gerade erkannt wird. Der
elektrische Strom wird ins Verhältnis gesetzt zur eingestrahlten
Lichtleistung. Ein Wert von 0,8 oder 80% bedeutet, dass 20% der
einfallenden Photonen verloren gehen, also keinen Beitrag liefern.
Verluste ergeben sich z.B. durch Reflexion und Absorption.

05. Batteriewechsel
Wenn das Symbol auf dem LCD erscheint, bedeutet das, dass die
Batterie gewechselt werden muss. Öffnen Sie das Batteriefach. Dafür
drücken Sie leicht den rückseitigen Deckel herunter und schieben die-
sen in Richtung des angezeigten Pfeils auf der Klappe weg. Lösen
Sie vorsichtig den Batterieclip und tauschen Sie die leere Batterie
gegen eine neue 9V-Batterie aus (NEDA 1604 9V-Batterie, 6F22
oder baugleich). Befestigen Sie erneut den Batteriefachdeckel.
Das Gerät ist nun wieder betriebsbereit.
Elektronische Geräte gehören nicht in den Hausmüll,
sondern müssen in der Europäischen Union – gemäß
Richtlinie 2002/96/EG DES EUROPÄISCHEN PARLA-
MENTS UND DES RATES vom 27. Januar 2003 über
Elektro- und Elektronik-Altgeräte – einer fachgerech-
ten Entsorgung zugeführt werden. Bitte entsorgen Sie dieses Gerät
am Ende seiner Verwendung entsprechend der geltenden gesetz-
lichen Bestimmungen.

• Automatic power-off (Auto Of
Moving the appliance from a cold to a warm envi-
ronment (and vice versa) can lead to the formation
of condensation on the measuring circuitry of the
appliance. This physical effect, which cannot be
prevented by structural means for any measuring
instrument, leads to false measurement values.
Depending on the temperature difference, the appli-
ance requires an 'acclimatisation time' of approx.
15 - 30 minutes before the measuring procedure
can be resumed.

4. Sensor for the background lighting: The measuring ins-
trument reacts very sensitively to changes in the am
bient light. The background lighting switches on auto-
matically in poor lighting conditions and switches off
again when the light becomes brighter.
5. Automatic measuring range selection: x10 means that
the light intensity lies within the 20k Lux range and the
measured values must be multiplied by 10. x100 means
that the light intensity lies within the 40k Lux range
and the measured values must be multiplied by 100.
If the measured value is stable during the measuring

rate (2.5 times per second) and a measured value in-
cluding decimal place can be assigned, then the mea-
sured value appears as a number with the first decimal
place, e.g. 223.4 Lux. The display with one decimal
place takes place in all 4 Lux measuring ranges and the
4 fc (foot candle) measuring ranges

03. Operation
Light measurements
1. Press the On/Off button to perform a normal measurement.
2. Hold the photodetector as far as possible at an angle of
90° to the light source.
3. The brightness value is shown the display. The back
ground lighting automatically switches itself on under
poor lighting conditions.
4. The measuring range changes automatically depending
on the light intensity. The measuring range includes 4
Lux measuring ranges (200 Lux, 2000 Lux, 20 KLux and
40 KLux) and 4 FC measuring ranges (20 FC, 200 FC,
2000 FC or 4000 FC).

5. Briefly press the button 2; the maximum value is dis-
played. Briefly press the button again to return to the
normal measuring mode.
6. Press and hold the button 2 for approx. 2 seconds to
switch between LUX and fc.
7. Exceeding the measuring range: If the letters "OL" or
"VO" appear on the display, the input signal is too strong
(>40 KLux).
8. Take the photodetector away from the light source after
completion of the measurement.
Spectral sensitivity characteristics:
The following diagram shows that the photodiode with fil-
ters fulfils the requirements of the CIE (International Com-
mission on Illumination), with regard to spectral sensitivity
and the photopia curve V (λ).
The spectral sensitivity function indicates how large the
number of irradiated photons must be (per cm² and se-
cond) at each wavelength, so that the light is just detected.
The electric current is set in relation to the irradiated light
power. A value of 0.8 or 80% means that 20% of the in-
cident photons are lost, i.e. make no contribution. Losses
result, for example, from reflection and absorption.

05. Battery replacement
If the symbol appears on the LCD, this means that the
battery must be replaced. Open the battery compartment.
To do this, gently depress the cover on the rear side and
push it in the direction of the arrow shown on the flap.
Carefully release the battery clip and replace the spent bat-

tery with a new 9V battery (NEDA 1604 9V battery, 6F22 or
equivalent). Fasten the battery compartment lid again. The
appliance is now ready for operation once more.
Electronic equipment may not be disposed of
as domestic waste, but must be correctly dis-
posed of in accordance with the EUROPEAN
PARLIAMENT AND EUROPEAN COUNCIL Direc-
tive 2002/96/EC of 27 January 2003 regarding
used electrical and electronic equipment. Please dispose
of this equipment in accordance with the applicable legal
regulations when its service life is ended.

rdg Reading is a typical specification in respect
of accuracy. It means that the error is made
up, for example, of 5.0% (10%) of the current
display ("reading") and a unit ("digit") such as
10 dgts of the last displayed decimal place.
Example: Lux measurement: Assuming that
you read off the value 2012 Lux during a
measurement, then, due to the error limits of
the measuring accuracy, the actual measu-
red value lies between 1901 Lux and 2122
Lux, i.e. ±5% rdg ±10 dgts, since the read-off
measured value is smaller than 10000 Lux.
