Information about the device
Device description
By use of the digital sound level meter BS06 the sound level can
be measured in dB(A) in real time.
A MAX/MINfunction is available for the assessment of the
measurements.
The display illumination automatically adjusts to the ambient
light conditions.
When not in use, an automatic switch-off saves the battery.

Switch-on and measurements
1. Press the power button(7).
ðThe display will be switched on and the device ready for
operation.
ðIn case of poor lighting conditions the display
illumination switches on automatically. The display
illumination is controlled by the sensor(6).
2. Point the device with the microphone end directly toward
the sound source.
ðReach out as far as possible to hold the device away
from your body or mount it to a tripod via the tripod
thread(3). This helps to avoid foreign influences during
the sound measurement.
ðIf it is windy (>10m/s) use the supplied wind shield so
as not to falsify the measured value.
ðThe measured value will be displayed indB(A).
Note:
Note that moving from a cold area to a warm area can lead to
condensation forming on the device's circuit board. This
physical and unavoidable effect can falsify the measurement.
In this case, the display shows either no measured values or
they are incorrect. Wait a few minutes until the device has
become adjusted to the changed conditions before carrying out
a measurement.
Info
Please note that the measurement of a sound source
always has to be carried out directly. There must be no
objects or persons located in between the microphone
and the sound source, unless their influence on the
sound intensity is to be measured on purpose as well.
Setting the MAX/MINfunction
By use of the MAX/MINfunction you can either read the highest
or the lowest value.
1. Press the MAX/MINbutton(2).
ðThe MAXindication(10) appears on the display.
ðThe display now indicates the highest sound level
measured since the device was switched on.
2. Press the MAX/MINbutton(2) again.
ðThe MINindication(8) appears on the display.
ðThe display now indicates the lowest sound level
measured since the device was switched on.
3. Press the MAX/MINbutton(2) for 2seconds.
ðThe MAX/MINfunction is deactivated and the current
measured value is displayed.
Automatic switch-off
The device comes equipped with an automatic switch-off
function. After 15minutes of non-use the device switches off
automatically.
Switching the device off
1. Press the power button(7).
ðThe device is switched off.
ðThe MAX and MINvalues are reset.
Errors and faults
The device has been checked for proper functioning several
times during production. If malfunctions occur nonetheless,
check the device according to the following list.
For repairs or device testing, contact the manufacturer.
Display segments are only faintly visible or flicker:
• The battery voltage is too low. Exchange the batteries
immediately.
The device displays implausible measured values:
• The battery voltage is too low. Exchange the batteries
immediately.
Maintenance and repair
Battery change
A battery change is required, when the displayed values are
difficult to read or the device can no longer be switched on.
See chapter Operation.
Cleaning
Clean the device with a soft, damp and lint-free cloth. Make
sure that no moisture enters the housing. Do not use any
sprays, solvents, alcohol-based cleaning agents or abrasive
cleaners, but only clean water to moisten the cloth.
Repair
Do not modify the device or install any spare parts. For repairs
or device testing, contact the manufacturer.
