1. Precautious points on safety
1-1
Major part of the accidents occurs in relation to the operation carelessly conducted by the operator,
the inspection/service and the repair work.
Also, if you do not observe the basic caution matters on safety and neglect the dangerous
preperception, it is easy to occur.
By predicting the circumstances where the danger is predicted, the accidents can be prevented in
advance.
1-2
The physical injury occurs due to erroneous operation and inappropriate inspection service work.
Well read the contents of the operation and the inspection/service work, and never operate this
product until you understand it.
1-3
The warning and the caution about the safety are clearly stated in this operation manual and the
warning labels.
If these warning and caution are neglected, caution should be taken since it may result in the
physical injury and the death accident.
1-4
The manager, the operator and the maintenance personnel should read this manual well before
performing the operation and the maintenance of this product.
Persons who knew a correct handling and received the prescribed education, should perform the
appropriate work by using the correct technology and tools.

situations including serious injury or loss of life.
Works ignoring this note can lead to serious personal injury or loss of life
and/or serious damage to the facilities of the plant (including this system)
Failure to comply with CAUTION can lead to dangerous
situations including slight personal injury or medium scale
of damage to the facility.
Works ignoring this note can lead to slight personal injury and/or can
bring the system into the situation that requires readjustment.
There is no direct danger, but we describe the contents which we want
you know in order to your use the system correctly on safety of the work.
・Danger of the operation, inspection and service in all environments can not be predicted.
・Warning being described on the warning labels in this operation manual and on the product is not
necessarily all satisfied.
・In handling the product, pay a careful attention by the persons who control, operate and perform
maintenance as to other than this operation manual description matters, and keep in mind for
securement of the safety so that the significant injury such as physical injury and the damage to the
product do not occur.
・When the operation/inspection/service other than being described in this operation manual are
performed, perform the necessary consideration related to the safety on the all workers’ responsibility.

1. For your safety use
In order to use this unit in a safe manner, we describe the caution points on
safety, the attached position of warning labels and the contact party.
1-1. Caution on handling
This section describes precautions for use of this product. Thoroughly understand the following before
using this product.
The voltage generated by this power supply is enough to pose a risk to a human life. Therefore it shall
be handled with the greatest care. In the event that a person contacts this voltage, it leads to a
serious accident. Take great care not to contact a high voltage.
In addition, never energize with the cover removed since it is dangerous.
This power supply involves a high voltage. Our or our group's personnel in charge support the
internal inspection and repair.
Before replacement etc. of the power supply, be sure to turn the upstream breaker to OFF and
remove the cable wires etc.

2. Overview
This chapter describes features, composition, and
specifications of this product.
2-1 Introduction
This power supply is designed as a DC power supply for sputtering with an output of 10/20 kW.
The rated power can be supplied to the load by optimizing the load impedance of plasma.
2-2 Features
・The output value can be checked on the monitor in the front of the power supply and the each
parameter setting on the panel.
・The output can be produced over the USER control, via the SERIAL communication, and by the panel
operation in the front of the power supply (LOCAL control).
・An error in each power supply can be checked on the monitor in front of the power supply.
・With the air-cooling system, cooling water is not necessary.
・There are two models with a different rated output voltage: 800V and 1,000V.
・As an option, it can be customized to master slave specifications (*1). It can be used as a power
supply system of 10 to 240 kW by connecting power supplies with each other using master slave
cables. 10 kW and 20 kW can be combined flexibly and respectively and up to 12 units can be
connected. Note that power supplies with a rating of 800V and 1,000V cannot be combined on a
master-slave basis.
・A low energy circuit (*2) can be attached as an option. If an unusual electrical discharge (*3) is
detected, the low arc energy circuit quickly disconnect the load, reducing the arc energy.
・As an option, accuracy can be guaranteed in the low power range of 1% to 10% of the rated power.
The standard guarantees accuracy from 10% to 100%. Check the items in [2-4. Specifications] for
accuracy and warranty range. Accuracy-guaranteed products in the low power range are described as
S specifications.
・Depending on the rated specification and the optional configurations of power supplies, the machinery
number (*4) is identified as shown in Table 2-1. When the power breaker is closed, the corresponding
machinery number appears on the monitor in the front of the power supply. For the front monitor
display when the breaker is closed, see section 5-1-1.
*1: Hereinafter a master slave is referred to as MS.
*2: Hereinafter a low arc energy circuit is referred to as LARC.
*3: Hereinafter an unusual electrical discharge is referred to as ARC.
*4: Hereinafter a machinery number is referred to as M/N.

*1: This depends on the working condition at your site.
*2: This depends on an input voltage of 187 to 229 VAC. This may depend on the equipment on the input
side.
*3: When a device for preventing unusual electrical discharge is used, the output voltage is limited to
800V.
*4: A low arc energy circuit can be installed as an option. When a device for preventing unusual electrical
discharge is used, only the inverter stops.

Input voltage: Three-phase, 50/60 Hz, and AC187 to 229V
[HARTING] connector is employed for the input section.
Although the genuine cable can be purchased from us, if you prepare a cable by yourself, purchase
connector component parts with reference to the items of [Table 2-5.HARTING connector configuration
at the cable side of input section], select a suitable wiring material, and complete the installation.
A special tool is required. Contact the manufacturer for the details of installation conditions etc. When
selecting a wiring material used for the cable, refer to [Table 2-2. Electrical specification], and select
the one that would satisfy the rating specification. In addition, select a suitable cable ground based on
the line shape of the wiring material selected.

2-5-2. Connection of output section
As with the input section, a [HARTING] connector is employed also in the output section.
Although the genuine cable can be purchased from us, if you prepare a cable by yourself, purchase
connector component parts with reference to the items of [Table 2-7. HARTING connector
configuration at the cable side of output section], select a suitable wiring material, and complete the
installation.
A special tool is required. Contact the manufacturer for the details of installation conditions etc.
When selecting a wiring material used for the cable, refer to [Table 2-2. Electrical specification], and
select the one that would satisfy the rating specification.
In addition, select a suitable cable ground based on the line shape of the wiring material selected.

3. Preparation
We describe necessary preparation and caution matters in
step where after this unit is delivered at your hand, you
use this unit.
3-1 Unpacking
Unpack the product package and take out the products.
After unpacking, check the number of accessories and the apperance of the main unit and the
accessories.
When taking the main unit out of the transportation box, be sure to work together with other
one or more persons.
3-2 Installation of power supply
3-2-1 Power receiving equipment
Operation of this power supply needs the following AC input equipment. (For details, see Table 2-1.)

* The above shows the required power receiving capacity for one power supply. The number of power
supplies depends on the system configurations and the suitable power receiving capacity depends
on the number under actual working conditions.
3-2-2 Class A grounding work
The output voltage of this power supply is 1,000V or more and therefore classified into high-voltage
equipment. For this reason, Class A (formerly called Class 1) grounding with grounding resistance of
10Ω or less is necessary.
Of the Japanese standards, the Class A grounding work defined in the guide for electrical
equipment fits. In sufficient grounding may damage the target devices and have an
excessive effect on a human body. In a country outside Japan, install the product following
its national rules.
