1 GENERAL INFORMATION
Dear Customer,
Thank you for purchasing this product.
This quick start guide was written to help you set up the URMET S.p.A NVR PRO Series models Ref.1098/318 -
Ref.1098/316 – Ref. 1098/316P – Ref. 1098/332 quickly and easily.
This manual should be read before using the equipment as it contains information for its correct and safe use.
Keep this document in good condition and in a convenient place, so that you can refer to it when necessary.
1.1 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This Urmet S.p.A. product is a digital video recorder for recording images from multiple cameras on an internal hard disk.

1.2 OPENING THE PACKAGE
Check that the packing and the contents are not visibly damaged. Contact the retailer immediately if parts are either
missing or damaged. Do not attempt to use the device in this case. Send the product back in its original packing if
damaged.

Live
Double video output with monitor, VGA output port or HDMI output (if available);
supports Urmet UVS client software, MP live monitoring and zoom in/out, automatic
sequence and PiP display.
Record
Video compression standard: H.265; adjustable recording quality, resolution and
frame rate; multiple recording modes: continuous, programmed, manual, on alarm (if
available), motion detection and remote activation.
Recording
storage
Supports high-capacity SATA hard disks and saves recording in real time on the
hard disk.
Image Capture Captures images or snapshots of individual channels automatically or manually.
Play Supports playback of files recorded on the NVR with single and multiple channel

1.3 WARNINGS
1.3.1 POWER SUPPLY
Check mains rating before plugging the power unit in.
Do not pull on the cord to unplug the device.
Switch the device off before unplugging power unit. This operation must not be performed when the NVR Boost
3.0 Series is recording or playing or when the configuration menu is open. Stop recordings and playback in
progress before disconnecting the power from the device to prevent damaging the hard disk beyond repair.
1.3.2 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Keep the device away from rain and dampness to prevent the risk of fire and electrocution. Do not introduce any
material (solid or liquid) inside it. If this should accidentally occur, disconnect the device from the mains and have
it inspected by qualified personnel.
Never open the device. In all cases, contact qualified personnel or an authorised service centre for repairs.
Keep the device away from children, to prevent accidental damage.
Do not touch the device with wet hands to prevent electrical shock or mechanical damage.
Do not use the device if it falls or if the external casing is damaged. Continued use of the device in such
conditions could cause an electric shock. Contact the retailer or authorised installer.
1.3.3 INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS
To prevent the device from overheating, arrange it in a position that allows a flow of air through the slots in the
casing. Ensure at least 5 cm of free space when installing in a rack. For the same reason, do not install close to
heat sources, such as radiators or hot air ducts. Keep away from direct sunlight. Do not install in areas subject to
excessive dust, mechanical vibrations or shocks.
Do not position this device on an unstable surface, such as a tottering or slanted table. The device could fall,
causing injury or mechanical failures.
Do not install the device in a place where it could be exposed to dampness or water. Do not direct a jet of water
onto the device to avoid risk of fire, electrocution or mechanical failure.
Stop using the device if water or some other material penetrates inside the it, to prevent risk of fire or
electrocution. In such cases, contact the retailer or authorised installer.
Do not place heavy or heat generating objects on top of the device: this could damage the casing and/or increase
the internal temperature causing faults.
Do not cover the device with a cloth while it is running to prevent deforming the external casing and overheating
the internal parts, causing risk of fire, electrocution and mechanical failure.
Keep magnets and magnetised objects away from the device to prevent faults.
Do not use the device in the presence of smoke, vapour, humidity, dust or intense vibrations.
Do not operate the device immediately after moving it from a cold place to a warm place and vice versa. Wait on
average for three hours: this will allow it to adapt to the new environment (temperature, humidity, etc.).
1.3.4 CLEANING THE DEVICE
Rub gently with a dry cloth to remove dust and dirt.
Dip the cloth in neutral detergent if dirt cannot be removed with a dry cloth alone.
Do not clean the device using volatile liquids (such a petrol, alcohol, solvents, etc.) or chemically treated cloths to
prevent deformation, deterioration or scratches to the paint finish.
1.3.5 HARD DISK
The hard disk installed in this device is sensitive to knocks, temperature changes and vibrations. Failure to
observe these precautions can compromise correct operation of the device and cause loss of the data stored on
the hard disk.
If repairs are required, it is advisable to backup all important data before taking the device to the service centre.
Urmet S.p.A. is not liable for loss of stored data.
The addition of a hard disk must be performed by qualified technical personnel or by contacting the technical
support service.

1.3.6 RECORDING IMAGES
This device is not designed to act as a burglar alarm but to record images. Urmet S.p.A. cannot be held liable for
loss or damage due to theft from the user premises.
Make a test recording before using the device to ensure that is working correctly. Please note that Urmet S.p.A.
is not liable for any loss of stored data or damage caused by incorrect installation, improper use or malfunctioning
of the device.
This device contains precision electronic components. Protect the device from bumps and jolts to ensure proper
recording of images.
1.3.7 PRIVACY AND COPYRIGHT
The digital video recorder Series PRO Ref. 1098/318- Ref. 1098/316- Ref. 1098/316P – Ref. 1098/332 is a
device for CCTV systems. The recording of images is subject to the laws in force in the country of use. Recording
of images protected by copyright is forbidden.
Product users are responsible for checking and complying with all local rules and regulations regarding
monitoring and the recording of video signals. The manufacturer SHALL NOT BE LIABLE for any use of this
product that is not in compliance with the laws currently in force. For more information see

2.2.4 SENSOR/ALARM FUNCTIONS
Alarm input: connect the sensor [-] signal to pin G (GND) and the [+] signal to the input of channel 1…8, as
alarm device.
Alarm output: connect the two “ALARM” signals.

2.4 MOUSE OPERATION
In addition to the buttons on the front panel and the remote control, the system can also be operated using a mouse.

In locked menu mode, open the pop-up menu and click on any submenu to open the
login window; in unlocked menu mode, open the pop-up menu and left-click to open
any submenu directly.
Having accessed the main menu, left-click to open any submenu; in [Detailed file]
mode, left-click to play a recording file.
Change the check box state and the motion detection area.
Click on the combo box to open the drop-down menu; left-click to stop timed view when
active.
Left-click to adjust the colour control bar and the volume control bar.
Click on the combo box to access the drop-down menu.
Left-click to select the values in the specific boxes. Activate the drop-down menu for
support to enter Chinese characters, special symbols, numbers and letters to be used
instead of [Enter- ] or [Backspace
]
Right click In live mode, right-click to view the pop-up menu.
In main menu or submenu mode, right-click to close the current menu.

2.5 IP CAMERA AND MONITOR CONNECTION
Connect the IP cameras to the NVR using the network connections and connect the VGA port and/or the HDMI output port
to the monitor (see paragraph 1.5 Rear panel).
2.6 POWER CONNECTION
Use the power supply unit provided with the NVR only.
After switching on, check that the video output connections are correct and that the audio device is connected via the RCA
cable.

3 SYSTEM INITIALISATION
Plug the power supply cable of the NVR into the wall socket, insert the power connector in the rear panel and press the
Power button (if included) on the rear panel to open the system initialisation screen shown above.
3.1 LIVE INTERFACE AND POP-UP MENU
The <Live> screen opens at the end of the initialisation. The figure above shows the multi-split page in a no video input
state, displayed by the system by default. When video inputs are present, the screen will show the live image stream from
the cameras. In Live mode, a double-click on the live image of a channel will display it in full screen mode. A second
double-click returns the image to multi-split mode. After the system has initialised, right-click on the main interface to open
the pop-up menu. At this point, you can set parameters and use the Menu Main:

Double-click to select the menu items; click anywhere outside the menu to quit the pop-up menu.

Note: when the hard disk (HDD) is not connected or an error has occurred, the “H” character appears on the first channel
of the live screen and an audible alarm may sound. To silence the audible alarm, open [Main MenuAdvancedEvents]
select (Event type) on “Full Disk” or “HDD Error” and set (Alarm output) to “OFF”.

3.2 GUIDE TO THE MAIN MENU
After the system has initialised, right-click on the main interface to access the pop-up menu. At this point, you can set
parameters and select Main Menu, Multi-Pics, Stream Switch, Preview Policy, Playback, Mute, Start Sequence,

3.3 MAIN MENU
To access the Main Menu, enter the Password “00000000” to log in for the first time. The password can be personalised
later in [Main MenuSystemUsers].
In <Live> mode, click on the [Menu] button on the remote control to open the Main Menu interface, as shown in section
2.1. The main menu screen can also be opened by clicking on the [ ] icon. In Main Menu mode you can adjust device
management settings, such as Parameter, Record Search, System Advanced, Shutdown, etc.
3.4 PARAMETER SETTINGS
This section can be used to set the main parameters, such as Display Monitor, Recording, Network and Alarm.

3.4.1 DISPLAY
3.4.1.1 IP Channels (IP cameras)
Select the [Add All] function to add the IP camera quickly to the LAN or select the [+] button to manually add the IP camera
connected to the LAN network. Enter the correct password of the IP camera (default: admin) after having selected the
[Add All] button and confirm the operation.
Each of the fields in the IP channels list is explained below.
Channel: Channel number of the IPC camera
Edit: To edit the name and position of the channels and
other Channel connection parameters, as shown in the
figure.
State: To display the IPC online state (green).
IP Address/Domain: IP address of the IPC connected
to the channel.
Subnet Mask: Subnet mask of the IPC camera.
Port: Connection port number of the currently set IPC.
Manufacturer: Manufacturer of the various IPCs.
Device type: IP camera number or type.
Protocol: Access protocol selected for connecting the
IPC to the NVR.
MAC Address: Physical address of the device.
Firmware Version: To view the current firmware version
of the IPC.

Adding a user
Go to [Main menuParameterDisplayIP Channels] and select [User-defined add]. Click on an available camera in the
list of detected devices.
RTSP function
The RTSP function is used to view the main/secondary stream videos of an IP camera connected to the NVR on a web
page of the PC or on the local monitor via the RTSP port. This function is useful to manage the live stream of an IP ONVIF
camera connected to the NVR.
Click on [Protocol Manage]. The following screen will appear:

The following parameters must be set:
Custom Protocol: this defines the name of the RTSP protocol to associate with the IP camera.
The following fields may be defined for each Main Stream/Sub Stream:
Port: the default RTSP is 544, but it can be changed by the user.
Resource path: copy the resource path used for the VLC software installed on the PC for the IP camera to be
added. The live stream can then be viewed only on the local NVR via the configured RTSP port.
Confirm to exit at this point. The IP camera detected by the protocol using the RTSP port may now be added to the live
grid of the NVR.

3.4.1.2 Live
Read the descriptions under the following figure for this menu page:
•Channel: this is used to set the required channel.
•Channel Name: this is used to set the channel name; the system accepts up to eight characters.
•Show Name: this is used to enable display of the system name on the <Live> screen.
•Record time: when set to “Enable”, this can be used to record the system time on the recording log.
•OSD Position: this is used to set the viewing position of each channel.
•Colour: click on the [Setup] option to access the [Colour setup] option as shown above.
•Covert: this is used to enable the Channel monitoring screen in Live mode.
•AHD EQ: image quality can be improved if EQ is enabled and the connected AHD camera supports the
equalisation function.
•Show time: this is used to enable display of the system time on the <Live> screen.
•Copy: this is used to copy all data from one channel to another.
The figure above shows the Colour Menu, which can be used to adjust the brightness, saturation, contrast, hue and
sharpness of each channel.
Explanation
1. The changes become available after clicking on the [Save] button at the bottom of the submenu windows; click on
the [ok] button when the saving prompt appears.
2. To cancel the change, click on [Cancel] to close the menu.
3. Click on the [Default] button to restore all default values.
