Overview

Main power connection/discharge point housed
in battery top
Key lock/barrel housed in bike frame
To check the state of charge, press the button
on the top. The colour of the LED indicates the
level of battery charge:
oBlue: More than 90% charge
oGreen: 40 –90% charge
oRed: 20 –40% charge
oFlashing Red: Less than 20% charge
If access is required to the top of the battery,
remove the 4 screws and pull the battery top away
from the main battery body to expose the wiring
for the charger port, charge indicator circuit board
and the main 30 Amp fuse

Removing the Battery from The Bike
1. Insert the key into the lock above the battery and turn clockwise until the battery releases
2. Gently pull the battery up and out of the bike
Installing the Battery Into The Bike
1. Insert the bottom of the battery into the base in the frame. The two lugs will align
2. Ease the top of the battery into the upper mount and gently push down until the lock clicks into
place

Lithium batteries are safe and forgiving regarding charging. Topping up regularly is completely acceptable and
can even extend battery life compared to fully discharging and recharging
oVelectriX E-bikes come standard with “smart” chargers. They are designed to turn off when the correct
battery voltage is reached
oThere are two lights on the charger. Both will be red when the charger is connected to power and the
battery is being charged. When full charge is reached, the second light will turn green
oAlways plug the charger into the battery before connecting the charger to power
oThe charger will get warm during charging. Make sure the charger is on a surface that will cope with the
temperature
oHeat is the enemy of lithium batteries. the cells are controlled by a battery management system (BMS)
to keep the voltage in the correct range to avoid a dangerous condition. If a battery is discharged
completely, it will simply turn off. This is the BMS doing its job. Your mobile phone is exactly the same!
oAlways store the battery in the coolest place possible
oFully charged batteries left in the sun will offer less range than batteries kept in the shade! Park your
bike away from full sun
oIf storing a battery for an extended period, do so at 50-60% charge. Never store discharged or fully
charged
oIf a battery that has been stored for a long period will not accept charge, it is the BMS that has
determined that the battery voltage is too low and in a dangerous range. A new battery will be required.
oBatteries must be disposed of correctly. Many battery retailers will accept old batteries along with some
council waste and recycling centres. never throw a lithium battery into general waste!!
Important:
All Reention batteries use the same 36 volt, 3 amp
charger. It has a single DC 2.1 pin to plug into the
battery charging port. Replacement chargers are
product number VXAUS10005
Battery Charging Tips

Replacing The Key Barrel/Lock
1. Remove the 5 screws from the upper
battery mount
2. Slide the upper battery mount down and
out of the frame
3. Push the key barrel into the frame and
remove
4. Place the new key barrel into the frame
and use the key (on the outside of the
frame) to hold in position
5. Now insert the upper battery mount back
into the frame (whilst still holding the key
on the outside) and begin the installation
with the 2 screws that hold the key barrel
to the upper battery mount.
6. Once the first 2 screws are in position and
holding the key barrel, install the
remaining 3 screws.
7. Finally, tighten all 5 screws and check that
the lock works properly and firmly holds
the battery in position
