1 Introduction

This device combines the functions of sound level meter, light meter,
humidity meter and temperature meter and can be used both
professionally and at home.
The sound level function can be used to measure sound levels in
schools, offices, airports, etc. and to check the acoustics of
auditoriums, studios and hi-fi installations.
The light function is used to measure luminous intensity. The device
automatically compensates for the angle of incidence. The light-
sensitive component is a very stable long-life diode.
Measure temperatures using the built-in temperature-sensitive
semiconductor or the K-type thermocouple.
Perform relative humidity measurements with the built-in
semiconductor.
The humidity and temperature measuring function is for use a
humidity/semiconductor sensor and K-type thermocouple.

3 Overview
Refer to the illustration on page 2 of this manual.
1. LCD display: 3 ½-digit LCD. Displays a wide variety of units (Lux, x
1 Lux, °C, °F, %RH, dB, A, C, Lo, Hi) and also gives ‘BAT’, ‘MAX
HOLD’ and ‘DATA HOLD’ indications.
2. Power button: activates or deactivates the device
3. Select button: Used to select function and range
4. MAX HOLD: Press this button to hold the maximum reading. Press
again to release the reading and continue your measurements.
5. DATA HOLD: Press the HOLD button to hold a particular reading
and press it again to continue your measurements.
6. Function switch: Select temperature, humidity, sound level and
luminous intensity with this switch.
7. Microphone: built-in electret condenser microphone
8. Photo detector: long-life silicon photo diode is built in
9. Sensor for humidity measurements is built-in

4 Operation
a) Measuring Sound Levels
1. Place the function switch in the dB position.
2. Hold the microphone at a horizontal angle to the source to be
measured.
3. Press the SELECT button to select A & dB, C & dB, Lo & dB or Hi &
dB.
4. Both the A- and C-weighting curves have a frequency range
between 3 Hz and 1 kHz.
5. The fast response is ideal to measure short bursts of sound and
peak values.
6. The sound level is displayed.
Note: strong winds (> 1 m/sec.) can influence your measurements.
Use the included windscreen when this happens.
b) Measuring Light Levels
1. Place the function switch in the LUX-position
2. Hold the detector at a horizontal angle to the source to be
measured.
3. Press SELECT to select the range: 2 , 2 , 2 , 2 Lux.
4. Read the nominal value from the display.
5. The overrange indication (“1”) is displayed if the input signal
exceeds the range limit. Select a higher range.
6. Remove the photo detector from the light source when the
measurement is completed.
7. The spectral sensitivity of this device is very similar to the CIE curve
(International Commission on Illumination) depicted below:

c) Measuring Humidity
1. Place the function switch in the %RH position.
2. Read the measured value from the LCD.
3. The device needs a couple of minutes to catch up when the relative
humidity of the tested area changes.
d) Temperature Measurements
1. Place the function switch in the TEMP position.
2. Press the SELECT button to select .1°C or 1°C and 1°F or .1°F.
3. Read the measured value from the display.
4. Insert the K-type thermocouple in the appropriate socket.

5. Touch the target surface with the extremity of the temperature
sensor and read the measured temperatures from the LCD.
Attention: Be careful when the range selector is positioned on one of
the following ranges: .1°C, 1°C, .1°F or 1°F. Do not
attempt to make voltage measurements while the test leads
are connected with the K-type thermocouple socket.
Ignoring this warning may lead to personal injury or
damage to the device.
5 Maintenance
The battery should be replaced when “BAT” appears on the display.
Open the battery compartment, replace the old battery (1 x 9V-battery
type 6F22 or equivalent) and close the compartment again.

1 Inleiding

Dit multifunctionele toestel combineert vier verschillende functies nl.
die van decibelmeter, lichtmeter, vochtigheidsmeter en thermometer.
U kunt het zowel thuis als op het werk gebruiken.
Gebruik het toestel als decibelmeter op school, op kantoor, op de
luchthaven, enz. U kunt er ook de akoestische eigenschappen van
auditoriums, studio’s en hifi-installaties mee testen.
Het toestel is geschikt als lichtmeter om de heersende lichtintensiteit
te meten. Het toestel houdt automatisch rekening met de invalshoek
van het licht. De lichtgevoelige component is een zeer stabiele diode
met lange levensduur.
Meet temperaturen dankzij de ingebouwde temperatuurgevoelige
halfgeleider of via het K-type thermokoppel.
Meet de vochtigheidsgraad met de ingebouwde halfgeleider.

3 Omschrijving
Raadpleeg de figuur op pagina 2 van deze handleiding.
1. LCD display: 3 ½-digits LCD. Geeft een aantal meeteenheden (Lux,
x 1 Lux, °C, °F, %RH, dB, A, C, Lo, Hi) en aanduidingen (‘BAT’,
‘MAX HOLD’ en ‘DATA HOLD’) weer.
2. ON/OFF knop: schakelt het toestel in of uit
3. ‘Select’-knop: dient om het bereik en de functie te selecteren
4. MAX HOLD: druk op deze knop om de hoogste uitlezing op het
scherm te bevriezen. Druk nogmaals om de waarde los te laten en
uw metingen te hernemen.
5. DATA HOLD: Druk op de HOLD knop om een bepaalde uitlezing vast
te houden en druk nogmaals om uw metingen te hernemen.
6. Functieschakelaar: Selecteer temperatuur, vochtigheid,
geluidsniveau en lichtintensiteit met deze schakelaar.
7. Microfoon: ingebouwde elektret-condensatormicrofoon
8. Fotodetector: silicium fotodiode met filter en lange levensduur
9. De vochtigheidssensor is ingebouwd

4 Gebruik
a) Geluidsniveau meten
1. Plaats de functieschakelaar in de dB-stand.
2. Houd de microfoon onder een horizontale hoek t.o.v. de bron die u
wilt meten.
3. Druk op SELECT om A & dB, C & dB, Lo & dB of Hi & dB te
selecteren.
4. Zowel in A- als in C-weging heeft het toestel een frequentiebereik
van 3 Hz tot 1 KHz
5. De snelle respons is ideaal om korte geluidssignalen en hoge
waarden te meten.
6. Lees het geluidsniveau af van de LCD.
Opmerking: hevige windstoten (> 1 m/sec.) kunnen uw metingen
beïnvloeden. In dit geval moet u de meegeleverde windkap
gebruiken.
b) Lichtintensiteit meten
1. Plaats de functieschakelaar in de LUX-stand
2. Houd de detector onder een horizontale hoek t.o.v. de bron die u
wilt meten.
3. Selecteer één van de volgende bereiken met SELECT : 2 , 2 ,
2 , 2 Lux.
4. Lees de nominale waarde af van de display.
5. De buiten-bereik aanduiding (“1”) verschijnt op de LCD wanneer het
ingangssignaal te sterk is voor het gekozen bereik. Selecteer een
hoger bereik.
6. Haal de fotodetector weg van de lichtbron na uw meting.
7. De spectrale gevoeligheid van dit toestel lijkt sterk op de CIE curve
(International Commission on Illumination).

c) Vochtigheidsgraad meten

2. Lees de gemeten waarde op de LCD.
3. Het toestel heeft enkele minuten nodig om zich aan te passen
wanneer de heersende luchtvochtigheid verandert.
d) Temperatuurmetingen
1. Plaats de functieschakelaar in de TEMP-stand.
2. Selecteer .1°C of 1°C en 1°F of .1°F met SELECT.
3. De gemeten waarde verschijnt op de LCD.
4. Stop het K-thermokoppel in de juiste aansluitklemmen.
5. Raak het doeloppervlak aan met het uiteinde van de
temperatuursensor en lees de gemeten waarden af vn de LCD

Opgelet: Wees voorzichtig wanneer de bereikschakelaar ingesteld is op
één van de volgende bereiken : .1°C, 1°C, .1°F of 1°F.
Voer geen spanningsmetingen uit terwijl de testsnoeren
aangesloten zijn op de aansluitklemmen voor het K-
thermokoppel. U kunt het toestel beschadigen en zelfs
gewond raken indien u deze waarschuwing negeert.
5 Onderhoud
Vervang de batterij wanneer de mededeling “BAT” op de LCD
verschijnt. Verwijder het batterijdeksel, vervang de oude batterij (1 x
9V-batterij, type 6F22 of equivalent) en sluit het batterijvak weer af.

Cet appareil multifonctions fait fonction d’un sonomètre, d’un
luxmètre, d’un hygromètre et d’un thermomètre. Le DVM4 1 peut être
utilisé professionnellement mais convient également pour usage
domestique.
Utilisez la fonction sonomètre à l’école, au bureau, à l’aéroport, etc.
L’appareil permet également de contrôler les caractéristiques
acoustiques d’auditoriums, de studios et de chaînes hi-fi.
Mesurez l’intensité lumineuse avec la fonction luxmètre. L’appareil
tient compte de l’angle d’incidence. Le composant photosensible est
une diode très stable avec une longue vie.
Mesurez des températures grâce au thermocouple du type K ou le
semi-conducteur thermosensible incorporé.

4 Emploi
a) Mesurer le niveau sonore
1. Mettez le sélecteur de fonction dans la position dB.
2. Tenez le microphone à un angle horizontal vis –à-vis de la source à
mesurer.
3. Pressez SELECT pour sélectionner A & dB, C & dB, Lo & dB ou Hi &
dB.
4. La gamme de fréquence pour la pondération en A et celle en C est
de 3 Hz – 1 KHz.
5. La réponse rapide est idéale pour la mesure de signaux sonores
courts et de valeurs élevées.
6. Lisez le niveau sonore de l’afficheur LCD.
Remarque: des rafales de plus de 1 m/sec. peuvent influencer vos
mesures. Utilisez la bonnette anti-vent incluse si
nécessaire.
b) Mesurer l’intensité lumineuse
1. Placez le sélecteur de fonction dans la position LUX
2. Tenez le photodétecteur à un angle horizontal vis –à-vis de la
source à mesurer.
3. Sélectionnez une des gammes suivantes avec SELECT : 2 , 2 ,
2 , 2 Lux.
4. Lisez la valeur nominale sur l’afficheur.
5. L’indication hors-plage (“1”) est affichée quand le signal d’entrée est
trop fort pour la plage sélectionnée. Sélectionnez une plage plus
haute.
6. Eloignez le photodétecteur de la source lumineuse après vos
mesures.
7. La sensibilité spectrale de cet appareil ressemble très fort à celle
décrite par la courbe CIE (Commission internationale sur
l’éclairement).
