The appliance is only intended to be
installed and operated in ventilation sys-
tems that comply with EN 1946-6, with
due attention paid to the associated
installation, service and operating
instructions. It is only designed for the
controlled mechanical ventilation of liv-
ing spaces.
Intended use presupposes that a fixed
installation in conjunction with permissi-
ble, system-specific components has
been carried out.
Commercial or industrial usage for a pur-
pose other than mechanical ventilation
of living spaces shall be deemed inap-
propriate.
Any usage beyond this must be
approved by the manufacturer for the
individual case.
Incorrect usage or operation of the appli-
ance (e.g. the appliance being opened
by the system user) is prohibited and
results in an exclusion of liability. Incor-
rect usage also occurs if the components
in the ventilation system are modified
from their intended function.
Note
The appliance is intended exclusively for
domestic use, i.e. even users who have
not had any instruction are able to oper-
ate the appliance safely.
Passive house use
Vitovent 300-W meets the requirements
for passive house use.

Supply air and extract air ducts
The air is distributed from the ventilation
unit to the living spaces (supply air) or
from the wet areas to the ventilation unit
(extract air) via air distribution boxes with
flat ducts, connection elements, silenc-
ers, supply air and extract air vents.
■ Position the air distribution boxes near
the ventilation unit.
■ Route the supply air and extract air
ducts from the relevant air distribution
boxes to the individual rooms.
Installation information
■ In order to avoid complicated duct
runs, install the ventilation ductwork
prior to installing the central heating,
water and waste water services.
■ Ducts must not sag, to prevent con-
densate accumulating.
■ Contaminants must be kept out of the
ductwork.

■ Secure components with butt straps,
perforated straps (on site) or mounting
brackets (accessory).
■ Join all components with a lip seal to
make them airtight.

■ Secure components with plastic-
coated perforated straps (on site) and
seal with shrink tape.
■ Join all components with connection
pieces or female connections.
■ Use reducers in accordance with the
required flow rate and the building
characteristics.
■ Secure EPP pipes on the connectors
of the ventilation unit to the wall using
mounting brackets, so that the pipes
cannot be removed without tools.

■ If flexible System 150 flat ducts are
routed within the insulation layer below
the screed, e.g. as the supply pipe for
the air distribution box, protect these
with cover panels (on-site provision)
against deformation by concentrated
loads (impact protection).
■ Thermally insulate all ductwork in
unheated areas with vapour diffusion-
proof material.
Supply air/extract air valves
■ Arrange the supply air and extract air
valves in the room geometry so that
the air is routed as directly as possible
between rooms that are ventilated and
those from which air is extracted. At
the same time, ensure as comprehen-
sive a flow pattern as possible through
the entire room.
■ Max. distance to the ceiling in the case
of wall mounting: 300 mm.
Air routing between rooms
■ Create an interconnected room air
supply between the rooms to be ven-
tilated and those from which air is to be
extracted.
■ For this, a gap under doors into the
apartment is sufficient. The correlation
between gap height and air flow rate is
shown in DIN 1946-6 (see technical
guide).
■ Where internal doors are tightly
sealed, provide on-site noise attenu-
ated overflow vents in the internal
walls or in part of the door.

Preventing flow noise and pressure drop
■ Install air distribution boxes close to
the ventilation unit.
Maximum length of supply air and
extract air ducts between the ventila-
tion unit and the air distribution box:
5 m
■ Symmetrical layout of the supply air
and extract air lines.
■ Short runs, few bends.
■ Install one silencer (accessory) each
in the supply and extract air ducts
between the air distribution box and
ventilation unit.
■ Only for metal ductworks (flat):
– In areas where greater attenuation
is required, provide additional
silencers between adjacent living
and sleeping accommodation and
toilets.
– To reduce the pressure drop in
ducts, implement central risers with
EPP pipe DN 160 or DN 180 where
appropriate.
Measures against structure-borne
noise
No additional measures are required if
the ventilation unit is mounted on con-
crete or screed floors and on solid walls,
since the Vitovent is equipped with
sound-absorbing adjustable feet and
rubber washers to counteract structure-
borne noise transmission.
When a unit is installed on wooden ceil-
ings, we recommend additional isolation
against vibration by means of a concrete
plate or anti-vibration mounts.
Never position the ventilation unit in the
centre of a ceiling if the ceiling is con-
structed with wooden beams.
Note
This also applies when utilising a mount-
ing plinth (accessory).
