Working on the system
&Isolate the system from the power
supply and check that it is no longer
'live', e.g. by removing a separate
fuse or by means of a mains isola-
tor.
&Safeguard the system against
unauthorised reconnection.
&When using gas as fuel, also close
the main gas shut‐off valve and
safeguard against unauthorised
reopening.

Air distribution
Air is distributed through air distribu-
tion boxes with flat ducts (system 100)
in conjunction with suitable branches,
silencers, clean-out covers and air
wall outlets/inlets.
Routing the air supply ductwork takes
priority over the heating, DHW and
drainage networks to avoid compli-
cated pipe runs.

Run cables
&Secure the air distribution system
with clips or perforated straps.
&Prevent the accumulation of con-
densate by using straight (non-sag-
ging) lines.
&Push individual elements together
with joints or female connections.
&Secure joints with self-tapping
screws or blind rivets and seal air-
tight with shrink tape.
&Use reducers in accordance with
the required flow rate and the pre-
vailing building conditions.

&Never let drilling swarf drop into the
appliance connectors.
&Secure the flexible pipe with a hose
clip to the outside air connector on
the appliance.
Thermal insulation
Thermally insulate those parts of the
air distribution system that are routed
through unheated areas using vapour
diffusion-proof material.
Provide outside air and expelled air
lines with a vapour diffusion-proof
insulation layer.
Provide ventilation air and extract
air lines with a insulation layer of at
least 50 mm thickness.
Preventing flow noise and pressure drop
&Install the air distribution box near
the central device.
&Maintain a maximum distance of
5 m between the ventilation air and
extract air lines from the appliance
and the air distribution box.
&Install silencers on the ventilation
air and extract air side immediately
above the appliance (behind the
adaptor from round to flat).
&Symmetrical ductwork design.
&Short runs, few bends.

Positioning the domestic ventilation appliance
Installation conditions
&The domestic ventilation appliance
can be installed in any dry location
inside the house that is free from
the risk of frost, where the low oper-
ating noise will not cause any nui-
sance in the living space. We
recommend the shortest possible
pipe runs to the extract air and pos-
sible ventilation air areas.
&The installation requires a single
phase power outlet with its own fuse
protection and a condensate drain.
&The remote control unit can be fitted
anywhere in the house (max. cable
length: 50 m). A central location
would be ideal, e.g. living room,
kitchen or hall. Install a 2-core con-
trol cable for connecting the remote
control to the ventilation appliance
(0.5 mm
2
).

Location
The domestic ventilation appliance
can be installed freestanding or wall
mounted. The equipment must be
accessible for maintenance purposes.
Preferably install the ventilation appli-
ance inside the airtight and thermally
insulated building envelope.
The following are ideal locations:
&Utility room and domestic offices on
the ground floor
&Installation inside a wall cupboard
&Cellar
&Thermally insulated long pane attic
room.
Clearance dimensions
When installing the appliance ensure
that the appliance front can be fully
opened for maintenance purposes
(min. 500 mm clearance in front of the
appliance).
Common operation with open flue fireplace
!Please note
If the pressure inside the room
where the fireplace is installed
drops more than 0.04 mbar,
flue gases may flow back into
the room.
In that case, the installation of
a pre-heater bank (accessory)
or a geothermal heat exchan-
ger is always required.
&Never operate this domestic ventila-
tion system together with open
flue combustion equipment (e.g.
open fireplaces or combustion
equipment for solid fuel).
&A mechanical domestic ventilation
system and a combustion appliance
for solid fuel (fireplace) can be oper-
ated together if both are supplied
with combustion air via a dedicated
air duct. This should be agreed with
the local fuel gas inspector [where
appropriate]. Doors to boiler rooms
where the combustion air supply is
not interconnected with the living
space must be airtight and must be
kept closed.

&If the domestic ventilation system is
to be operated together with the
open flue combustion appliance
(open flue gas fired boiler or fire-
place), no negative pressure must
be created inside the installation
room as a result of the operation of
the domestic ventilation system.
Both appliances must be mutually
interlocked (accessories, see tech-
nical guide). When using other
makes, ensure on-site interlocking.
&An air pressure or safety pressure
limiter (on-site) can be installed as a
further interlocking option. This
requires the installation of the auxili-
ary PCB (accessory). This inter-
rupts the power supply to the
installation room of the combustion
equipment and switches the appli-
ance off.
Operation with cooker hoods and expelled air dryers
&Never interconnect extractor fans
and expelled air dryers into the ven-
tilation appliance pipework. Cooker
hoods can be designed as recircu-
lating or extractors. For reasons of
energy savings, we recommend the
installation of cooker hoods as recir-
culating appliances.

Hanging the appliance on the wall

1. Remove screws (300 and 400 m

from the appliance back panel.
2. Secure the retaining brace to the
back of the appliance.
3. Affix the rubber dampers
supplied A(only 180 m

onto the appliance back panel.

4. Fit rubber profile Cto the wall
retainer and mount level on the wall
with the screws and rawl plugs sup-
plied.
Fit rubber washers Bsupplied as
anti-vibration insulator between the
wall and the wall retainer.
5. Hook the appliance into the wall
retainer and level out.
Installing the appliance
Position the appliance level on its rub-
ber feet.
Note
It may be necessary to provide a
plinth to safeguard the free drainage
of condensate (see page 21).
