3.Installation Procedure
1. Pre-installation Checklist
Ensure that you have the following items with TrueSafe TS12CLR.
•TS12CLR unit
•Power supply adapter( Optional)
•10 replaceable filters for sensor
•mounting screws
•User manual
2. Fixing the unit
After selecting the right location, fix the unit on the wall with the wall mounting plugs and screws
provided with the unit.

3. Identifying place for TrueSafe in the premises
LPGis heavier than air. It has tendency to settle down. Hence, when you are using LPG cylinder,
TrueSafe must be installed at 30cm height from the floor.

Natural gas (LNG/PNG/CNG) is lighter than air. Hence when you are using it, TrueSafe must be
installed 30cm below the ceiling.

4. Locations to be avoided for installing TrueSafe
•Very near to exhaust fan
•By the side of a door or window
•In an enclosed space (for example, inside a cupboard)
•Directly above the gas stove
•Places where water can splash on the unit

6. Connecting wires
•Take out the wires from supply, relay output and RS 485 port through cable glands.
•Make the connections for relay and RS 485 as mentioned in above table.
•Insert power adapter to the mains socket.

4. Operation
Warm up period:
When TrueSafe is power ON, it enters in the warm-up period for approximately one minute. Fault LED
flashes rapidly during warm-up period.
Sense mode:
Once warm-up period is over, the detector enters into ‘Sense’ mode. During this mode,onlySensorON
LED glows (green) and Fault LED glows off.
During Sense mode, TrueSafemeasures the gas level in the environment and indicates on LED bar
graph.Whengas concentration crosses 10% of LEL (Lower Explosive Level), gas leakage alarm
condition is detected, unit givesvisual alarm by turning ON Gas Leak LED (red). All LEDs from 2.5%
LEL to 10%LEL glows on. It also gives 12V pulseacross valve coil output.If the external solenoid valve
is connected across the output, it cuts the gas supply.
When gas leakage reaches 10 % LEL, alarm condition is latched till the unit is reset.Even though gas
is dispersed, unit does not reset on its own.To reset the unit, power off the supply. In
TS12CLR-RS485 model, unit can also be reset by sending reset command through MODBUS RTU
master device.
Test:
For testing purpose, system simulates gas leak condition with 10% LEL. Press the button and check
the output at relay or valve if connected. So you can check TrueSafe’s alarm condition without actual
gas leak condition.
Relay Output:
Relay operates in alarm state and restores when unit is reset. This relay output can be used to trigger
any external device such as siren, dialer or sensor input for security system.
Interfacing the unit with other equipment:
Multiple TrueSafe(TS12CLR-RS485) units(up to 32) in the building premises can be connected to
central security systemor IBMS (Integrated Building Management System) using RS485 port.It
supports MODBUS RTU protocol. The unit is assigned with a unique Id from1 to 31 in the network. DIP
switch is provided inside the unit to assign unit Id. Refer the appendix to get switch position for
selecting unit Id. The serial parameters for RS485 port are set to 600 baud rate, no parity, 8 data
bits. Refer the appendix for MODBUS memory mapping.

Do’s & Don’ts When Gas Leakage Occurs
Do’s:
• If the gas leakage is severe, it is very dangerous for anybody to enter the premises. Call Fire
brigade/ Gas dealer.
• If there is a minor/moderate gas leakage- Turn off the knob, regulators etc, to stop gas
supply.
• Open all doors & windows.
• Replaceable filter which should be replaced after every 3 months or in case of damage. There
are 10 replaceable filters provided in the kit.
Don’ts:
• Do not panic
• Do not OFF/ON any electrical switch.
• Do not light any kind of fire or lamp.
Routine Check forTrueSafe
To ensure that TrueSafe is in working condition, it is necessary to check daily that Sensor ON LED
is glowing.
For checking unit’s sensing capability, it is necessary to check the unit once in a month, by applying
the Test switch.
