3. Use
Prevention and support of bedsore treatment. Due to its tubular structure, the mattress ensures an
appropriate arrangement of body weight and correct ventilation (oxygenation and moisture diversion).
The air insulation provides an optimal temperature and comfort of use. All of the above-mentioned
factors play crucial role for bedsore prophylaxis and treatment. The variable pressure mattresses do
not eliminate all causes of bedsores but due to changing position of body support points, they reduce
the risk of bedsores formation and development.
4. Contrandications
In case of adverse skin changes you should immediately consult a physician or medical personnel.

5
5. Operation
•After unpacking, check if it contains all parts in accordance with the list of elements set out
above.
Ensure that all components have no visible damage. If any doubts, please contact the
manufacturer.
The mattress should be placed on the bed in such a way that the pump is located on the side
with a patient's feet.
•Check if the switch-key is in the “0” zero position.
•Connect the pump to electricity.
•Connect the pipes to the pump –insert them into the air outlet located on the pump side and on
the mattress.
•Place the pump on hard surface or hang it on hinges. The place where the pump will stand
must be clean and dry. Dust, hair or other impurity may block the filter.
•Please, check if the pipes are not folded or pressed.
•Switch on the pump –set switch-key in 1 position.
•Set the pressure regulator on maximum. It will shorten the time of pumping which usually
takes 20-30 minutes.
•After inflating the mattress, you should choose the pressure according to the doctor’s
recommendation.
•Then place the cover included in the pockege of the antibedsore mattress using nep and velcro
(Illustration 7).
Illustration 6. Illustration 7.
Mattress lapels
Sheet should be placed on the cover.
Now the patient can lay on the mattress. The patient should be placed always on mattress fully
inflated, otherwise the pump may fully inflate it afterwards.
In order to receive exact instructions concerning an appropriate use and optimal pressure, please,
consult your doctor. The mattress and pump create effect of “constant movement” (changing position
of body support points), provide constant muscle massage and improve blood circulation. Thus, the
mattress is an effective tool to prevent bedsores. But the position of the patient on the mattress needs
to be changed despite of using it.
•The mattress must be on all times.
Switching off
•Set the switch-key into the 0 position.
•Disconnect the pipes from the air outlet in order to prevent air from escaping.

Illustration 8.
Illustration shows the range of adjustment mattress inflating located on the pump. Depending on your
preferences you should choose the right degree of firmness on a scale of 1 SOFT to 5 FIRM.
The mattress is inflated by a system of pipes. The cells are alternately inflated which ensures changin
position of body suport points. Patient’s body rests on the same, invariable height regardless of the
phase of pump functioning.
PHASES OF PUMP FUNCTIONING:
1 phase: Inflating all the cells
2 phase: Deflating the first section of cells
3 phase: Reinflating all the cells
4 phase: Deflating the second section of cells
LIFTING THE PATIENT FROM BED
Before lifting the patient from the bed deflate the mattress.
Mattress is equipped with a rapid deflation valve
To deflate the air pull the handle of rapid deflation. (Illustration 9.)

This will then two valves.
Before re-inflating mattress both of previously open valves should be closed.

SHORT-TERM CLOSURE OF THE AIR SUPPLY
In a situation when it is necessary to transport a patient with a bed for a short distance very
quickly, you can disconnect the mattress from the pump and close the air outlet.

- Please, check if there is a voltage in the electric circuit. If there is not, find the cause of such
situation.
- Please, check if the cable is not damaged. If so, you should change the cable.
The pump works too slowly or the pressure is too low.
- Please, check if the pressure regulator is set on an appropriate pressure. If not, please,
regulate it.
- Please, check if the pipes are correctly connected to the air outlet. If not, press them in such a
way which prevents the air from escaping.
- Please, check if the pipes are not folded or pressed. If so, please, unbend them.
- Please, check if the cells are not damaged. If so, please, repair it using the reparation kit.
