The brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec live and work in Paris.
Their field of work spans from small articles of daily use through to
architecture projects. They have worked with Vitra since 2000 and
have contributed numerous designs to both the office and home
collections.

Die Brüder Ronan und Erwan Bouroullec leben und arbeiten in
Paris. Ihr Arbeitsgebiet reicht vom kleinen Gebrauchsgegenstand
bis hin zu Architekturprojekten. Seit 2000 arbeiten sie mit Vitra
zusammen und haben sowohl die Büro- wie auch die Wohnmöbel-
kollektion um viele Entwürfe bereichert.

Les frères Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec vivent et travaillent à Paris.
Leur domaine d’activité s’étend de la création de petits objets
utilitaires aux projets architecturaux. Depuis 2000, ils travaillent en
collaboration avec Vitra et ont enrichi la collection de mobilier de
bureau et de mobilier pour l’habitat de leurs nombreuses créations.

Los hermanos Ronan y Erwan Bouroullec viven y trabajan en París.
Su área de trabajo incluye desde pequeños objetos de uso cotidia-

Vitra y han enriquecido con numerosos diseños las colecciones de
oficina y de muebles para el hogar.

De broers Ronan en Erwan Bouroullec wonen en werken in Parijs.
Hun werkterrein strekt zich uit van kleine gebruiksvoorwerpen tot
architectuurprojecten. Sinds 2000 werken ze samen met Vitra en
hebben zowel de kantoor- als de woonmeubelcollectie met tal van
ontwerpen verrijkt.

I fratelli Ronan ed Erwan Bouroullec vivono e lavorano a Parigi. Il
loro campo di attività spazia da oggetti d’uso quotidiano a proget-
ti di architettura. Lavorano con Vitra dal 2000 e hanno arricchito
con vari progetti sia la collezione di mobili da ufficio che quella di
mobili per arredamento domestico.

Like little protrusions in nature, Corniches by Ronan and
Erwan Bouroullec are informal and flexible shelves.
Corniches arose from the need for small storage spaces to sponta-
neously keep items. “The same way that we hang our belongings
on a rock jutting from a cliff before diving into the sea, we need
small, informal storage in everyday life too”, explains Ronan Bour-
oullec.
Wie kleine Vorsprünge in der Natur sind die Corniches von
Ronan und Erwan Bouroullec flexible Abstellflächen. Die
Corniches entstanden aus dem Bedarf nach kleinen Ablagemög-
lichkeiten, um spontan etwas unterbringen zu können. «So wie wir
unsere Sachen einfach an einen Felsvorsprung hängen, ehe wir ins
Wasser springen, brauchen wir auch im Alltag kleine Möglichkei-
ten, etwas zu verstauen», erläutert Ronan Bouroullec.

flexibles. Les Corniches sont nées du besoin de petits espaces de
rangement spontané. « De même que nous accrochons nos affaires
à une saillie d’un rocher avant de plonger dans la mer, nous avons
besoin de petits rangements informels au quotidien », explique
Ronan Bouroullec.
Las Corniches de Ronan y Erwan Bouroullec son estantes
informales y flexibles, como pequeños salientes creados por
la naturaleza. Las Corniches surgen de la espontánea necesidad
de encontrar un espacio donde depositar objetos pequeños. “Igual
que cuando nos tiramos al mar buscamos un saliente en la roca
para colgar nuestras cosas, en la vida cotidiana también necesita-
mos un lugar de almacenamiento pequeño e informal”, explica
Ronan Bouroullec.
De Corniches van Ronan en Erwan Bouroullec zijn informele
en flexibele legplanken – zoals kleine rotspunten in de
natuur.De Corniches ontstonden uit de behoefte aan een kleine
opbergruimte om spontaan iets weg te leggen. “Net zoals je je
spullen aan een rotspunt hangt voor je de zee induikt, heb je in het
dagelijks leven ook kleine, informele legplanken nodig”, aldus
Ronan Bouroullec.

Le Corniches nascono dalla necessità di progettare spazi di piccole
dimensioni su cui depositare spontaneamente un oggetto. Proprio
come appendiamo i vestiti su una roccia sporgente poco prima di
tuffarci in acqua, nella quotidianità ci occorrono piccole e flessibili
superfici di appoggio su cui collocare i nostri oggetti, spiega Ronan
Bouroullec.

Please note: Due to safety reasons, Corniche should only be
installed by a professional. The specified max. load only applies if
Corniche has been installed correctly taking the wall structure into
consideration. The mounting materials are suitable for walls made
of concrete or brick, but not for hollow walls.
Achtung: Aus Sicherheitsgründen sollte Corniche nur von Fachper-
sonal montiert werden. Die angegebene max. Belastung gilt nur,
wenn Corniche unter Berücksichtigung des Wandaufbaus fachge-
recht montiert wurde. Das Montagematerial gilt für Beton- und
Backsteinwände, nicht aber für hohle Wände.
Attention : pour des raisons de sécurité, il est conseillé de faire
installer votre étagère Corniche uniquement par du personnel qua-
lifié. La charge maximale indiquée n’est valable que si l’étagère
Corniche a été montée de manière professionnelle en tenant
compte de la structure du mur. Le matériel de montage est destiné
aux murs en béton et en briques mais pas aux murs creux.

Care instructions

cloth and a mild detergent.
