Description
Suspended solids, such as clay, silt, and other particulate precipitation, gives liquid a cloudy
appearance and may affect operating efficiency of downstream equipments or even damage
them. Waterite’s Jumbo filter system helps to remove particulate matters from incoming water
by trapping them on the surface of the pleated filter cartridge to produce clean, clear water.
Waterite Excelflow Jumbo Filter Housing are made of 304 grade stainless steel* and are
available in two different top openings and with three different flow capacities. Filter cartridges
are available with five different micron readings, covering a wide range of applications and
filtration requirements. The cover can be secured either by a band clamp or by swing bolts. The
three available cartridge sizes are 10’’, 20” and 30’’ and cartridge micron ratings range from 1
micron absolute to 20 micron.

Safety Warnings
For your safety, please read the following safety instructions before attempting the
system installation or operation.
DO NOT operate this filter system:
•With liquids corrosive to the system materials.
•At pressures exceeding the maximum specified operating pressure.
•At temperatures that exceed the maximum specified operating temperature.
Waterite Technologies does not accept the responsibility for damages resulting from improper
equipment application or operation.
When disassembling or maintaining the filter system, please note:
•The filter housing can be under pressure! Please make sure all the system pressure has been
released and inlet and outlet(s) are closed before opening the filter housing.
•The liquid in the filter housing can be chemically and/or biologically hazardous! Please take all
necessary precautions before opening the housing.
•Make sure the system closure is secure before restarting the system.
Installation
1. Install the unit in the desired location making sure the unit is level, on a firm base and has
sufficient space for easy servicing. Unit must be installed in a standing position and placed as
close as possible to the water supply source. A mounting hole on each supporting pad allows
positive attachment to the floor or the base. Do NOT install the unit in a location where freezing
temperatures occur or incoming water temperature above 65°C (150°F). Extreme water
temperatures can cause permanent damage to the equipment and will void the warranty.
2. Connect the upper flange port to the water inlet, the bottom flange port to the water outlet.
Making sure the gasket on the flange connection is suitable for the system pressure and
temperature and is chemically compatible with the filtrate. For precise system control,
monitoring and for ease of maintenance it is recommended to install pressure gauges and shut
off valves before and after the filter housing. For operation convenience, both the drain plug
and the vent plug may be replaced with ball valves.
3. Cartridges are NOT included with your filter housing and must be purchased separately. Upon
the completion of the housing installation, remove the housing lid. Screw the top diffuser plate
on the threaded end of the Jumbo pleated filter cartridge. Lubricate the cartridge bottom
opening with a good-quality, food-grade silicone grease (DO NOT use a petroleum-based
lubricant) to assist in the insertion of the cartridge on the housing stand pipe. Gently push the
bottom of the cartridge on to the standpipe and push down until the cartridge reaches the
bottom of the housing.
4. Close the system lid and make sure the lid o-ring is aligned correctly and the lid closure is
secured.

Operation
1. Open the system vent to allow air to escape as the housing fills for the first time. Make
sure the drain port and the pressure gauge port are plugged and secure.
2. Slowly open the system inlet to gradually fill up the housing. A sudden system start may
cause water hammer to occur and damage the housing lid assembly.
3. After the housing fills and liquid appears at the vent, close the vent. Slowly close the
outlet valve and allow pressure to build in the housing. Look for any abnormal pressure
readings (if gauges are installed) and check for any system leakage.
4. If leakage is detected, close the inlet valve and open the vent to release system
pressure. Open the drain port to empty the housing, remove the lid and check for any
damaged parts, or loose fittings. Once the leak has been fixed, restart the system by
repeating Operation steps 1-3.
5. Open the system outlet first when no leakage is observed under pressure. Your filter
system is now ready for normal operation.
Filter Cartridge Exchange
The service life of a filter cartridge is depending on the feed water quality and the system
usage. Under normal operation, change the filter cartridge when the differential pressure
is about 20 psi or annually, whichever comes first.
To change the filter cartridge:
1. Close filter inlet and outlet valves.
2. Slowly open the vent to release the system pressure.
3. Open the drain valve and empty the housing.
4. Open the filter housing lid.
5. Remove the filter cartridge from the filter housing by pulling the diffuser plate upwards.
Unscrew the diffusion plate from the cartridge. Rinse the inside of the housing, if
necessary.
6. Repeat step #3 in the ‘Installation’ section above.
7. Close and secure the filter housing lid.
8. Close the drain valve.
9. Follow the instruction under “Operation” to restart the service.

Recommended System Filter Cartridges:
For optimal performance ONLY use Excelpure filter cartridges supplied by Waterite
Technologies, as these have been specifically designed for use with Excelflow Jumbo
filter housings. Use of other brands may cause excessive system pressure drop,
incorrect fit or filter bypassing.


